Ο προπονητής των μπλε τα "έβαλε" με το μορφάτ της νέας ευρωπαϊκής διασυλλογικής διοργάνωσης τονίζοντας ότι δεν ρωτήθηκε η γνώμη των παικτών και των προπονητών.

"Δεν είμαι σίγουρος αν μου αρέσει γιατί βλέπω περισσότερα παιχνίδια. Είναι δύσκολο για μένα να είμαι ενθουσιασμένος. Όλες αυτές οι συζητήσεις για τη Super League μας έκαναν να ξεχάσουμε ότι το νέο φορμάτ του Champions League έρχεται σύντομα. Ρώτησαν κάποιον προπονητή γι' αυτό; Δεν νομίζω. Δεν με ρώτησαν. Ρώτησαν κάποιους παίκτες; Δεν νομίζω" ανέφερε αρχικά.

Στη συνέχεια έθιξε το ζήτημα των ολοένα και περισσότερων παιχνιδιών που ωστόσο, σύμφωνα με τα λεγόμενά του, δεν συνδυάζονται και με ποιότητα.

"Υπάρχουν πολλά νέα φορμάτ, το Nations League, ένα νέο Παγκόσμιο Κύπελλο Συλλόγων που έρχεται, περισσότερες ομάδες στο Euro. Περισσότερα παιχνίδια, αλλά όχι μεγαλύτερη ποιότητα. Την ίδια ώρα έχουμε τρεις αλλαγές στην Premier League. Δεν είμαι καθόλου χαρούμενος για τη νέα μορφή του Champions League" σχολίασε ο Τούχελ.
