Panathinaikos continues to struggle, PAOK made it difficult and threatened at the "T-Center" causing a ruckus in the equalizer basket (96-96 s.d.) but in overtime the "greens" woke up and won 114-102.

The "clover" once again showed that there is a problem. It was bad in the first half, it managed to build an 11-point difference in 35' (95-84), but in the last 5 minutes it scored just 1 point with a shot by Osman and PAOK with a partial 12-1 sent the game to overtime.

There, Ergin Ataman's team got serious, they were 18-6 in the extra five minutes with Sloukas coming out ahead and clearing the game, with the series now being transferred to Pylaia on Saturday (30/5, 14:50) for Game 2.

Panathinaikos bad offensively, PAOK found solutions and took the lead

Osman and Grant with two three-pointers in the first 90" of the match made it 6-2 for Panathinaikos, with the "greens" pressing on defense from the start. However, PAOK found the solutions and with Moore and Tyree's shot from the perimeter brought the game to a point (10-9) in the 5th minute, with the "clover" not yet having found a rhythm in the attack. Nan was off target (0/3 three-pointers), with Panathinaikos trying to "feed" Lesor, with Melvin and Moore being charged for PAOK with 2 early fouls. Koniaris with a three-pointer in the 8th minute put the Two-Headed ahead for the first time (15-16), with Sloukas after 38 days stepping on the glass floor again. Fillios with a three-pointer in the 9th minute made it 15-21, with the "greens" immediately responding with a 6-0 run and tying at 21-21 in the 10th minute, but the quarter ended at 23-24.

The "clover" also damaged its defense, with the Two-Headed steadily ahead

Sloukas responded with the start of the second period for 26-24, with Hayes with a nice effort making it 28-24. However, PAOK responded with a 4-0 run and Beverly tied at 24-24 in the 13th minute, to go ahead again with 30-31 thanks to a three-pointer by Beverly again. Persides in the 15th minute made it 33-35, with the "clover" now also facing problems in defense. Hayes with a three-pointer made it 36-35, with PAOK hitting every weakness of the "greens" and Moore (11pts) with 1/2 shots making it 36-38 in the 16th minute. Melvin in the 18th minute took the Double Head to +5 (38-43), with Grant with a three-pointer and Nunn with a difficult basket immediately tying the score (43-43). However, Panathinaikos' defense did not improve and the guests with a goal-foul by Omoruyi went back to +5 (43-48) in the 19th minute, with the half ending at 45-50.

PAOK tried to escape, but Lesor and Hayes turned the match around

Melvin's three-pointer at the start of the third period brought PAOK to +8 for the first time (47-55), with Panathinaikos now losing several rebounds and the Two-Headed Man scoring points from second and third chances. Beverly's three-pointer in the 23rd minute increased the difference to +9 for the first time (54-63), with Lesor (12pts) now being the reference point in the attack, reaching 8 points in the quarter and with a basket and a foul reducing it to 60-63 in the 25th minute. Hayes with 2/2 shots immediately collected the situation for the Panathinaikos and reduced it to a point (62-63), with Ataman's team "running" an 8-0 run. Hayes (14pts.) also entered the equation aggressively for the "clover" and in the 26th minute with a basket and a foul put the "greens" ahead 67-66. Osman and Hayes in the 28th minute lost their way, with Melvin with a three-pointer in the surprise to make it 68-71, but Sloukas immediately answered for 71-71. Nan (10pts.) in the 29th minute wrote 73-71, with Mitoglou in the 30th minute to make it 75-71 and the quarter ended at 77-75.

Panathinaikos committed suicide, left in the last 5 minutes with 1 point and overtime!

Nan (13pts, with a three-pointer in the first attack of the fourth period made it 80-75, with Osman at 55" with a goal-foul sending Panathinaikos to +8 (83-75). However, PAOK did not let the "clover" escape any further and with a 4-0 run reduced it to 83-79 in the 32nd minute with Allen, with Persides with a three-pointer bringing the match to the basket (84-82). The referees - and especially Hatzibalidis - had started to make things... a mess, with Lesor (17pts) with a goal-foul in the 34th minute making it 89-84. Nan with a nice effort increased the difference to 7 (91-84), with the American taking attempts and with a floater in the 35th minute making the 93-84, reaching 17 points. Hayes (16pts) on a surprise in the 36th minute brought Panathinaikos to a double-digit lead for the first time (95-84), with PAOK finding solutions and reducing it to 95-89 in the 37th minute with a three-pointer by Tyree (15pts). Omoruyi's surprise dunk brought the Two-Headed even closer, who were now "running" a 7-0 run, with the "clover" stuck in the attack this time. Moore (17pts) took the individual to 10-0 in the 39th minute and PAOK within shooting distance (95-93), with Osman at 1:13 to the end with 1/2 shots making it 96-93 and Panathinaikos finding a score after almost 4 minutes! Tyree at 53" missed a three-pointer to tie the game, Grant imitated him at and Tyree at 23" with 1/2 shots initially writing 96-94, Beverly taking the offensive rebound and then Tyree (18pts) again with a difficult effort to tie at 96-96 at 15"! Sloukas was too late in the last attack, Hayes' basket was out of time and the match thus went to overtime!

Sloukas took it upon himself and cleaned it up

In the extra five minutes, the "clover" did not have Nunn, who had been expelled with 5 fouls, with Lesor in the low post to make it 98-96. Sloukas with a three-pointer in the 41' took Panathinaikos to +5 (101-96), with the captain of Panathinaikos coming out ahead and with a basket and a foul in the 42nd minute giving Ataman's team an 8-point lead (104-96). Beverly with 2/2 shots scored PAOK's first points in the overtime (104-98), with Sloukas (14pts.) taking over and making it 106-98. Lesor (21pts.) in the 43rd minute with 2/2 shots made it 108-100, with Hayes at 1:31 for the end of the extra five minutes in the same way writing 110-110 and ending the match, with Panathinaikos reaching the victory and 1-0 with the final 114-102.

Ο Παναθηναϊκός συνεχίζει να ασθμαίνει, ο ΠΑΟΚ έβαλε δύσκολα και απείλησε στο «T-Center» προκαλώντας γιούχα στο καλάθι ισοφάρισης (96-96 κ.δ.) αλλά στην παράταση οι «πράσινοι» ξύπνησαν και νίκησαν με 114-102.

Το «τριφύλλι» για ακόμα μία φορά έδειξε πως υπάρχει πρόβλημα. Ήταν κακό στο πρώτο ημίχρονο, κατάφερε να χτίσει διαφορά 11 πόντων στο 35' (95-84), όμως στο τελευταίο 5λεπτο πέτυχε μόλις 1 πόντο με βολή του Όσμαν και ο ΠΑΟΚ με επιμέρους 12-1 έστειλε το παιχνίδι στην παράταση.

Εκεί η ομάδα του Εργκίν Αταμάν σοβαρεύτηκε, είχε 18-6 στο έξτρα πεντάλεπτο με τον Σλούκα να βγαίνει μπροστά και να καθαρίζει το παιχνίδι, με τη σειρά πλέον να μεταφέρεται στην Πυλαία το Σάββατο (30/5, 14:50) για το Game 2.

Κακός επιθετικά Παναθηναϊκός, βρήκε λύσεις ο ΠΑΟΚ και προβάδισμα

Όσμαν και Γκραντ με δύο τρίποντα στα πρώτα 90" της αναμέτρησης έκαναν το 6-2 για τον Παναθηναϊκό, με τους «πράσινους» να πιέζουν στην άμυνα από την αρχή. Ο ΠΑΟΚ όμως βρήκε τις λύσεις και με τον Μουρ και το σουτ από την περιφέρεια του Ταϊρί έφερε το παιχνίδι στον πόντο (10-9) στο 5', με το «τριφύλλι» να μην έχει βρει ακόμα ρυθμό στην επίθεση. Ο Ναν ήταν άστοχος (0/3 τριπ.), με τον Παναθηναϊκό να προσπαθεί να «ταΐσει» τον Λεσόρ, με τους Μέλβιν και Μουρ να χρεώνονται για τον ΠΑΟΚ με 2 φάουλ από νωρίς. Ο Κόνιαρης με τρίποντο στο 8' έβαλε τον Δικέφαλο για πρώτη φορά μπροστά (15-16), με τον Σλούκα μετά από 38 μέρες να πατάει και πάλι glass floor. Ο Φίλλιος στο 9' με τρίποντο έγραψε το 15-21, με τους «πράσινους» να απαντούν άμεσα με σερί 6-0 και να ισοφαρίζουν σε 21-21 στο 10', αλλά το δεκάλεπτο να κλείνει στο 23-24.

Χάλασε και την άμυνα του το «τριφύλλι» σταθερά μπροστά ο Δικέφαλος

Ο Σλούκας με την εκκίνηση της δεύτερης περιόδου απάντησε για το 26-24, με τον Χέις με ωραία προσπάθεια να γράφει το 28-24. Ο ΠΑΟΚ όμως με σερί 4-0 και τον Μπέβερλι απάντησε και ισοφάρισε σε 24-24 στο 13', για να περάσει και πάλι μπροστά με 30-31 χάρη σε τρίποντο του Μπέβερλι και πάλι. Ο Περσίδης στο 15' έκανε το 33-35, με το «τριφύλλι» να αντιμετωπίζει πρόβλημα και στην άμυνα πλέον. Ο Χέις με τρίποντο διαμόρφωσε το 36-35, με τον ΠΑΟΚ να χτυπάει κάθε αδυναμία των «πράσινων» και τον Μουρ (11π.) με 1/2 βολές να κάνει το 36-38 στο 16'. Ο Μέλβιν στο 18' πήγε τον Δικέφαλο στο +5 (38-43), με τον Γκραντ με τρίποντο και τον Ναν με δύσκολο καλάθι να ισοφαρίζουν άμεσα (43-43). Η άμυνα του Παναθηναϊκού όμως δεν βελτιωνόταν και οι φιλοξενούμενοι με γκολ-φάουλ του Ομορούγι πήγαν και πάλι στο +5 (43-48) στο 19', με το ημίχρονο να ολοκληρώνεται στο 45-50.

Πήγε να ξεφύγει ο ΠΑΟΚ, αλλά έφεραν τούμπα το ματς Λεσόρ και Χέις

Ο Μέλβιν με τρίποντο στην έναρξη της τρίτης περιόδου πήγε τον ΠΑΟΚ για πρώτη φορά στο +8 (47-55), με τον Παναθηναϊκό να χάνει πλέον κι αρκετά ριμπάουντ και τον Δικέφαλο να βρίσκει πόντους από δεύτερες και τρίτες ευκαιρίες. Ο Μπέβερλι με τρίποντο στο 23' ανέβασε τη διαφορά για πρώτη φορά στο +9 (54-63), με τον Λεσόρ (12π.) να είναι πλέον σημείο αναφοράς στην επίθεση, να φτάνει τους 8 πόντους στο δεκάλεπτο και με καλάθι και φάουλ να μειώνει σε 60-63 στο 25'. Ο Χέις με 2/2 βολές μάζεψε άμεσα την κατάσταση για τον Παναθηναϊκό και μείωσε στον πόντο (62-63), με την ομάδα του Αταμάν να «τρέχει» σερί 8-0. Ο Χέις (14π.) μπήκε κι αυτός στην εξίσωση επιθετικά για το «τριφύλλι» και στο 26' με καλάθι και φάουλ να βάζει μπροστά τους «πράσινους» με 67-66. Όσμαν και Χέις στο 28' έχασαν τα άχαστα, με τον Μέλβιν με τρίποντο στον αιφνιδιασμό να κάνει το 68-71, με τον Σλούκα όμως να απαντά άμεσα για το 71-71. Ο Ναν (10π.) στο 29' έγραψε το 73-71, με τον Μήτογλου στο 30' να κάνει το 75-71 και το δεκάλεπτο να λήγει στο 77-75.

Αυτοκτόνησε ο Παναθηναϊκός, έμεινε στο τελευταίο 5λεπτο με 1 πόντο και παράταση!

Οι διαιτητές -και κυρίως ο Χατζημπαλίδης- είχαν ξεκινήσει να τα κάνουν... σαλάτα, με τον Λεσόρ (17π.) με γκολ-φάουλ στο 34' να διαμορφώνει το 89-84. Ο Ναν με ωραία προσπάθεια ανέβασε τη διαφορά στους 7 (91-84), με τον Αμερικανό να παίρνει προσπάθειες και με φλότερ στο 35' να κάνει το 93-84, φτάνοντας τους 17 πόντους. Ο Χέις (16π.) στον αιφνιδιασμό στο 36' πήγε τον Παναθηναϊκό για πρώτη φορά σε διψήφια διαφορά (95-84), με τον ΠΑΟΚ όμως να βρίσκει λύσεις και να μειώνει σε 95-89 στο 37' με τρίποντο του Ταϊρί (15π.). Ο Ομορούγι με κάρφωμα στον αιφνιδιασμό έφερε ακόμα πιο κοντά τον Δικέφαλο, που «έτρεχε» πλέον σερί 7-0, με το «τριφύλλι» να έχει κολλήσει στην επίθεση αυτή τη φορά. Ο Μουρ (17π.) πήγε το επιμέρους στο 10-0 στο 39' και τον ΠΑΟΚ σε απόσταση βολής (95-93), με τον Όσμαν στο 1:13 για τη λήξη με 1/2 βολές να κάνει το 96-93 και τον Παναθηναϊκό να βρίσκει σκορ μετά από σχεδόν 4 λεπτά! Ο Ταϊρί στα 53" αστόχησε σε τρίποντο ισοφάρισης, τον Γκραντ να τον μιμείται στα και τον Ταϊρί στα 23" με 1/2 βολές αρχικά να γράφει το 96-94, τον Μπέβερλι να παίρνει το επιθετικό ριμπάουντ και στη συνέχεια ο Ταϊρί (18π.) και πάλι με δύσκολη προσπάθεια να ισοφαρίζει σε 96-96 στα 15"! Ο Σλούκας άργησε πολύ στην τελευταία επίθεση, το καλάθι του Χέις ήταν εκτός χρόνου και το ματς έτσι πήγε στην παράταση!

Το πήρε πάνω του και το καθάρισε ο Σλούκας

Στο έξτρα πεντάλεπτο το «τριφύλλι» δεν είχε τον Ναν, που είχε αποβληθεί με 5 φάουλ, με τον Λεσόρ στο low post να κάνει το 98-96. Ο Σλούκας με τρίποντο στο 41' πήγε τον Παναθηναϊκό στο +5 (101-96), με τον αρχηγό του Παναθηναϊκού να βγαίνει μπροστά και με καλάθι και φάουλ στο 42' να δίνει αέρα 8 πόντων (104-96) στην ομάδα του Αταμάν. Ο Μπέβερλι με 2/2 βολές σημείωσε τους πρώτους πόντους του ΠΑΟΚ στην παράταση (104-98), με τον Σλούκα (14π.) να το έχει πάρει πάνω του και να διαμορφώνει το 106-98. Ο Λεσόρ (21π.) στο 43' με 2/2 βολές έκανε το 108-100, με τον Χέις στο 1:31 για το τέλος του έξτρα πενταλέπτου με τον ίδιο τρόπο να γράφει το 110-110 και να τελειώνει το ματς, με τον Παναθηναϊκό να φτάνει στη νίκη και στο 1-0 με το τελικό 114-102.
