The faster the Hamilton opened the curtain in Mexico

The British had the best time in the first free trials of the Grand Prix, but Lecler was almost as fast, though with medium tires.


Luis Hamilton started dynamically in the Grand Prix of Mexico marking the best time in the first free trials. Behind the Mercedes driver were Ferrari's Charles Lecler and Max Ferstappen with Red Bull with about a tenth of a second difference. However, the two Ferrari's best impressions were left, as both Lecler and the sixth Vettel recorded these fast times with medium tire rather than soft tires as their rivals.

The first three were followed by Albon (Red Bull) and Boots (Mercedes), and after the six riders of the top three teams were once again Carlos Saind with McLaren, who was again '' Best of the Rest ''.

The tests were carried out on a slippery slope, which resulted in several exits, although most were painless. The most serious of these was the exit of Lans Stroll, which hit Racing Point's car in the barriers. The Canadian managed and continued to pitch, but the trials were interrupted for a few minutes until damage to the protective bars was restored. The worst times were made by the usual suspicious Williams with Latifi last.

Ο Βρετανός πέτυχε τον καλύτερο χρόνο στα πρώτα ελεύθερα δοκιμαστικά του Γκραν Πρι Μεξικού, όμως ο Λεκλέρ ήταν σχεδόν εξίσου γρήγορος, αν και με μεσαία ελαστικά.

Ο Λιούις Χάμιλτον ξεκίνησε δυναμικά στο Γκραν Πρι Μεξικού σημειώνοντας τον καλύτερο χρόνο στα πρώτα ελεύθερα δοκιμαστικά. Πίσω από τον οδηγό της Mercedes βρέθηκαν με περίπου ένα δέκατο του δευτερολέπτου διαφορά ο Σαρλ Λεκλέρ της Ferrari και ο Μαξ Φερστάπεν με Red Bull. Ωστόσο τις καλύτερες εντυπώσεις άφησαν οι δύο Ferrari, καθώς τόσον ο Λεκλέρ, όσο και ο έκτος Φέτελ σημείωσαν αυτούς τους γρήγορους χρόνους με ελαστικά μεσαίας γόμας και όχι μαλακής, όπως οι αντίπαλοί τους.

Την πρώτη τριάδα ακολούθησαν οι Άλμπον (Red Bull) και Μπότας (Mercedes), ενώ μετά τους έξι οδηγούς των τριών κορυφαίων ομάδων πλασαρίστηκε για μια ακόμη φορά ο Κάρλος Σάινθ με McLaren, που ήταν και πάλι ‘’Best of the Rest’’.

Οι δοκιμές πραγματοποιήθηκαν σε μία πίστα, που γλιστρούσε πολύ, γι αυτό και σημειώθηκαν αρκετές έξοδοι, αν και οι περισσότερες ήταν ανώδυνες. Σοβαρότερη από αυτές ήταν η έξοδος του Λανς Στρολ, εξαιτίας της οποίας χτύπησε το μονοθέσιο της Racing Point στις μπαριέρες. Ο Καναδός κατάφερε και συνέχισε μέχρι τα πιτ, ωστόσο διακόπηκαν για μερικά λεπτά τα δοκιμαστικά, μέχρι να αποκατασταθούν οι ζημιές στις προστατευτικές μπαριέρες. Τους χειρότερους χρόνους έκαναν οι συνήθεις ύποπτες Williams με τελευταίο τον Λατίφι.
