Villeurbanne – Panathinaikos AKTOR 93-96: They made the easy difficult, but took the double with Sloukas – Nunn (video)
With Kostas Sloukas and Kendrick Nunn coming out on top in the finale, Panathinaikos defeated Villeurbanne 96-93, in a match in which they were ahead by up to 15 points.
Panathinaikos AKTOR made the easy difficult on Friday night (2/28) at Astrobal. The greens went from +15 (52-67, at 25′) to -1 (79-78) at 34′. Kostas Sloukas and Kendrick Nunn showed their class in the finale - for the umpteenth time - and so the clover took the double with 96-91 to rise to 17-10 (11-2 home and 6-8 away).
The captain of the greens won a crucial unsportsmanlike foul from Andre Roberson with 2’18” before the end to make two shots, while immediately after the American grand slam hit a big three-pointer for 82-88 at 38′. Nunn and Sloukas each made a set of shots with 45″ and 27″ remaining respectively, with the former NBAer sealing the victory for the greens with two more points from the charity stripe at 18″.
The statistics that stood out
Panathinaikos closed the first half having scored 8 points in the surprise and 16 from the only 6 errors that Villeurbanne had committed.
The game
Brown entered the starting five -due to Grant's muscle spasm- along with Nan, Osman, Juancho and Gabriel. The 2-10 at 3' became 12-12 at 5'23", but with two three-pointers from Nunn, one from Sloukas and two baskets from Mitoglou, it became 16-25 at 10'.
Mitoglou, playing at the four, which is his natural position, with Place at the five, continued to be hot at the start of the second period. Scoring 8 points until 12’36”, he brought the greens to +14 (21-35). Villeurbanne responded with a 7-0 run (28-35), but Brown and Hernangomez gave the home team a double-digit lead again (28-41) in the 15th minute.
The home team continued to press and came close to -4 (44-48), before Panathinaikos closed the first half with six unanswered points to go to the locker room at +10 (44-54, 20′).

By the middle of the third period, Ergin Ataman’s team had opened the gap to 15 points (52-67), but De Colo gave the home team a boost to reduce the difference to single digits (63-71, 30′).
At the start of the fourth period, Panathinaikos turned the ball over twice and Poupé's team came close to 4 points (67-71, 30'43"). With Ajinsa's fourth three-pointer, the gap between the two teams was reduced to the basket (73-75, 32'). The 20-year-old Frenchman made two more three-pointers to overtake Villeurbanne (79-78, 34').

Τα εύκολα δύσκολα έκανε ο Παναθηναϊκός AKTOR το βράδυ της Παρασκευής (28/2) στο Αστρομπάλ.Οι πράσινοι βρέθηκαν από το +15 (52-67, στο 25′) στο -1 (79-78) στο 34′. Ο Κώστας Σλούκας και ο Κέντρικ Ναν έδειξαν την κλάση τους στο φινάλε -για πολλοστή φορά- κι έτσι το τριφύλλι πήρε το διπλό με 96-91 για να ανέβει στο 17-10 (11-2 εντός και 6-8 εκτός έδρας).
Ο αρχηγός των πρασίνων κέρδισε ένα κομβικό αντιαθλητικό φάουλ από τον Άντρε Ρόμπερσον στα 2’18” πριν το τέλος για να βάλει δύο βολές, ενώ αμέσως μετά ο Αμερικανός γκραντ πέτυχε ένα μεγάλο τρίποντο για το 82-88 στο 38′. Ναν και Σλούκας έβαλαν από ένα σετ βολών με 45″ και 27″ να απομένουν αντίστοιχα, με τον άλλοτε NBAer να κλειδώνει τη νίκη των πρασίνων με δύο ακόμα πόντους από τη γραμμή της φιλανθρωπίας στα 18″.

Ο Παναθηναϊκός έκλεισε το πρώτο μέρος έχοντας πάρει 8 πόντους στον αιφνιδιασμό και 16 από τα μόλις 6 λάθη στα οποία είχε υποπέσει η Βιλερμπάν.
Ο αγώνας
Ο Μπράουν μπήκε στην αρχική πεντάδα -λόγω του μυϊκού σπασμού στη μέση του Γκραντ- μαζί με τους Ναν, Όσμαν, Χουάντσο και Γκέιμπριελ. Το 2-10 στο 3′ έγινε 12-12 στο 5’23”, αλλά με δύο τρίποντα από τον Ναν, ένα από τον Σλούκα και δύο καλάθια του Μήτογλου προέκυψε το 16-25 στο 10′.
Ο Μήτογλου, παίζοντας στο τέσσερα που είναι και η φυσική του θέση, με τον Πλάις στο πέντε, συνέχισε ζεστός στο ξεκίνημα της δεύτερης περιόδου. Βάζοντας 8 πόντους μέχρι το 12’36”, έφερε τους πράσινους στο +14 (21-35). Η Βιλερμπάν απάντησε με σερί 7-0 (28-35), αλλά Μπράουν και Ερνανγκόμεθ έδωσαν ξανά διψήφιο προβάδισμα (28-41) στο 15′.
Οι γηπεδούχοι συνέχισαν να πιέζουν και πλησίασαν στο -4 (44-48), πριν ο Παναθηναϊκός κλείσει το πρώτο μέρος με έξι αναπάντητους πόντους για να πάει στα αποδυτήρια στο +10 (44-54, 20′).

Μέχρι τα μέσα της τρίτης περιόδου, η ομάδα του Εργκίν Αταμάν είχε ανοίξει την ψαλίδα στους 15 πόντους (52-67), όμως ο Ντε Κολό έδωσε ώθηση στους γηπεδούχους να κατεβάσουν τη διαφορά σε μονοψήφιο επίπεδο (63-71, 30′).
Στο ξεκίνημα της τέταρτης περιόδου, ο Παναθηναϊκός πούλησε δύο φορές την μπάλα και η ομάδα του Πουπέ πλησίασε στους 4 πόντους (67-71, 30’43”).
