The race

Πιθανότατα βέβαια, η "Βασίλισσα" θα προτιμούσε να θυσιάσει το θετικό αποτέλεσμα στην έδρα της Βιλερμπάν για να έχει υγιή τον Έντι Ταβάρες. Ο θηριώδης σέντερ τραυματίστηκε στον αριστερό αστράγαλο στα 28.7'' για το τέλος, σημαίνοντας συναγερμό στην ισπανική πλευρά εν όψει της διαβολοβδομάδας που ακολουθεί.
Ο αγώνας
Η Ρεάλ Μαδρίτης κυριάρχησε στο παρκέ του Astroballe από νωρίς χάρη σε δύο στοιχεία: την υπεροχή κοντά στο καλάθι (8/11 δίποντα) και την αστοχία της Βιλερμπάν στο περιφερειακό σουτ (0/8 τρίποντα). Το +10 (10-20) της ισπανικής ομάδας στο φινάλε της πρώτης περιόδου ήταν ενδεικτικό της κατάστασης και δεν αμφισβητήθηκε επί της ουσίας μέχρι την ανάπαυλα.
Ειδικά από την στιγμή που Νάντο Ντε Κολό (1/7 σουτ) και ο Ντι Μποστ (0/3 τρίποντα) δεν ολοκλήρωναν με επιτυχία τις κατοχές που έπαιρναν. Κάπως έτσι, το πρώτο μέρος έκλεισε με τη Ρεάλ Μαδρίτης στο +15 (32-47) και τη Βιλερμπάν να ελπίζει πως μετά από τη διακοπή του ημιχρόνου, όλα θα ήταν καλύτερα.
Με την έναρξη του δεύτερου μέρους, η Βιλερμπάν έδειξε διάθεση να κυνηγήσει την ανατροπή. Ο Γιουσούφα Φαλ έχτισε ένα τείχος κοντά στο καλάθι, ο Νάντο Ντε Κολό άρχισε να σκοράρει με πολύ μεγαλύτερη συνέπεια και κάπως έτσι οι γηπεδούχοι πήραν θάρρος. Από την στιγμή μάλιστα που η Ρεάλ Μαδρίτης έβλεπε τα ποσοστά σε δίποντα και τρίποντα να πέφτουν, όλα ήταν πιθανά.
Κάτι που αποδείχθηκε στην πράξη, με τη Βιλερμπάν να ρίχνει τη διαφορά σε μονοψήφια επίπεδα (53-61 στο 28') πριν πλησιάσει ακόμη περισσότερο. Στο σουτ. Οι γηπεδούχοι έφτασαν σε απόσταση βολής (62-64 στο 33'), αλλά έχασαν τα σουτ που θα τους έδιναν το προβάδισμα. Αντίθετα, η "Βασίλισσα" ήταν σαφώς πιο συνεπής στο εκτελεστικό κομμάτι, διατήρησε το προβάδισμα μέχρι τέλους και πήρε μια νίκη, που αποδείχθηκε πύρρειος εξαιτίας του τραυματισμού του Έντι Ταβάρες στα 28.7'' για το τέλος.
