Until... today (03/03) the international striker of Eindhoven announced that he is leaving the representative group of his homeland, speaking of a huge honor and thanking everyone for the memories.
De Jong made his debut for the Oranie in a friendly against Austria on 9 February 2011, replacing Dirk Keit.
With the now 32-year-old striker scoring his first goal for the national team on 6 September 2011, in the Netherlands' 2-0 win over Finland in a Euro 2012 qualifier that secured their place in the finals.
In total, De Jong made 39 appearances and scored eight goals for the Dutch national team.

Ο μέχρι… σήμερα (03/03) διεθνής επιθετικός της Αϊντχόφεν ανακοίνωσε ότι αποχωρεί από το αντιπροσωπευτικό συγκρότημα της πατρίδας, κάνοντας λόγο για τεράστια τιμή και ευχαριστώντας άπαντες για τις αναμνήσεις.
Ο Ντε Γιόνγκ έκανε το ντεμπούτο του με τους «οράνιε» σε ένα φιλικό παιχνίδι με αντίπαλο την Αυστρία στις 9 Φεβρουαρίου του 2011, αντικαθιστώντας τον Ντιρκ Κάιτ.
Με τον 32χρονο πλέον στράικερ να σημειώνει το πρώτο του γκολ με το εθνόσημο στις 6 Σεπτεμβρίου του 2011, στο 2-0 της Ολλανδίας επί της Φινλανδίας για τα προκριματικά του Euro 2012, με την οποία εξασφαλίστηκε η πρόκριση στα τελικά της διοργάνωσης.
Συνολικά, ο Ντε Γιόνγκ μέτρησε 39 συμμετοχές και οκτώ τέρματα με την εθνική Ολλανδίας.
