Μια από τις πιο σημαντικές νίκες της στην φετινή Euroleague πέτυχε η -ανεβασμένη- Μπασκόνια. Οι παίκτες του Πέδρο Μαρτίνεθ χάρη σε εξαιρετικό τέταρτο δεκάλεπτο κατάφεραν να επικρατήσουν της Μπαρτσελόνα και να κάνουν ένα πολύ σημαντικό βήμα για την όγδοη θέση της κατάταξης.
Κι αυτό γιατί πλέον βρίσκονται στο 15-13 και απέχουν 2 νίκες από την Μακάμπι Τελ Αβίβ (13-15), κάτι που σημαίνει πως με νίκη την ερχόμενη εβδομάδα «τσεκάρουν» και μαθηματικά το εισιτήριο για τα πλέι οφ της διοργάνωσης.
Ισορροπημένα ήταν τα πρώτα λεπτά του αγώνα. Η Μπασκόνια προσπαθούσε να πάρει τα ηνία με μπροστάρη τον Τίμα (5-10, 4'). Η Μπαρτσελόνα αντέδρασε, όμως και χτυπώντας κοντά στο καλάθι κατάφερε να ισοφαρίσει στο φινάλε του δεκαλέπτου για το 16-16. Το σκηνικό έμεινε ίδιο και στο δεύτερο δεκάλεπτο. Οι Βάσκοι συνέχισαν να βρίσκουν λύσεις με τον Σενγκέλια να φωνάζει παρών και αυτό βοήθησε ώστε να πάρουν τα ηνία στο φινάλε του πρώτου μέρους για το 40-43.
Το ντέρμπι συνεχίστηκε και στο δεύτερο μέρος. Η Μπαρτσελόνα έβρισκε λύσεις από Κόπονεν και Οριόλα και παρέμενε κοντά στο σκορ. Ο Πουαριέ ανέλαβε δράση, όμως και χάρη σε δικές του προσπάθειες οι Βάσκοι έκλεισαν το δεκάλεπτο με προβάδισμα της τάξεως των 5 πόντων (58-63). Στο τέταρτο δεκάλεπτο οι παίκτες του Πέδρο Μαρτίνεθ πάτησαν... γκάζι.
