Champions League: 5 English teams in the new season, "battle" for City

England secured the first of two extra UEFA tickets and will field five teams in the next Champions League. The "battle" of Manchester City (6th) and the Premier League standings.

Arsenal's victory over Real Madrid was beneficial both for the Gunners in their attempt to qualify for the "4" of this year's Champions League, and for English football as a whole, which won an extra ticket for the next season's tournament!

Specifically, England secured one of the two tickets that UEFA gives to the two associations with the highest score in the annual Country Coefficient and will thus field five teams from the Premier League in the top club competition in the new season.

This fact intensifies the "battle" in Europe in the Premier League standings, where 3rd from 7th place is only six points away and at least 5 teams are fighting for three tickets, seven matches before the final.

With the exception of the leader Liverpool and, apart from a shocking surprise, 2nd place Arsenal, the remaining positions are still up in the air.

Nottingham Forest is 3rd with 57 points, having established itself in the top four and looks capable of holding on until the end. The top five is currently completed with 53 points by Chelsea and Newcastle (with a match less), while Manchester City is called upon to fight its own "battle" which... is burning for the exit to the Champions League, having fallen to 6th place with 52 points. Aston Villa follows with 51 points, while Fulham (48 points) and Brighton (47 points) also remain in the game.

It is noted that England can field up to seven teams in the Champions League. For this to happen, two English teams will have to win the Champions League and the Europa League, while they will also finish outside the top five in the Premier League. Arsenal and Aston Villa continue in the Champions League, while Manchester United and Tottenham, who have fallen far behind in the league, will continue in the Europa League.

Η Αγγλία κατοχύρωσε το πρώτο από τα δύο έξτρα εισιτήρια της UEFA και θα βγάλει πέντε ομάδες στο επόμενο Champions League. Η «μάχη» της Μάντσεστερ Σίτι (6η) και η βαθμολογία της Premier League.

Η νίκη της Άρσεναλ επί της Ρεάλ Μαδρίτης λειτούργησε ευεργετικά τόσο για τους Gunners στην προσπάθεια πρόκρισης στους «4» του φετινού Champions League, όσο και για το αγγλικό ποδόσφαιρο συνολικά που κέρδισε ένα έξτρα εισιτήριο για τη διοργάνωση της επόμενης σεζόν!

Συγκεκριμένα, η Αγγλία εξασφάλισε το ένα από τα δύο εισιτήρια που δίνει η UEFA στις δύο ομοσπονδίες με την υψηλότερη βαθμολογία στο ετήσιο Country Coefficient κι έτσι θα βγάλει πέντε ομάδες από την Premier League στην κορυφαία διασυλλογική διοργάνωση τη νέα σεζόν.

Το γεγονός αυτό εντείνει τη «μάχη» της Ευρώπης στην κατάταξη της Premier, όπου η 3η από την 7η θέση απέχει μόλις έξι βαθμούς και τουλάχιστον 5 ομάδες παλεύουν για τρία εισιτήρια, επτά αγωνιστικές πριν το φινάλε.

Με εξαίρεση την πρωτοπόρο Λίβερπουλ και εκτός συγκλονιστικού απροόπτου και τη 2η, Άρσεναλ, οι υπόλοιπες θέσεις βρίσκονται ακόμη στον... αέρα.

Η Νότιγχαμ Φόρεστ βρίσκεται 3η με 57 βαθμούς έχοντας εδραιωθεί στην πρώτη τετράδα και δείχνει ικανή να αντέξει μέχρι τέλους. Την πεντάδα αυτή τη στιγμή συμπληρώνουν στους 53 βαθμούς η Τσέλσι και η Νιούκαστλ (με ματς λιγότερο), ενώ τη δική της «μάχη» καλείται να δώσει η Μάντσεστερ Σίτι που... καίγεται για την έξοδο στο Champions League, έχοντας υποχωρήσει στην 6η θέση με 52 βαθμούς. Η Άστον Βίλα ακολουθεί στους 51 β., ενώ τυπικά στο κόλπο παραμένουν και οι Φούλαμ (48 β.) και Μπράιτον (47 β.)

Σημειώνεται ότι η Αγγλία μπορεί να βγάλει ακόμη και επτά ομάδες στο Champions League. Για να συμβεί αυτό θα πρέπει να κατακτήσουν το Champions League και το Europa League δύο αγγλικές ομάδες οι οποίες παράλληλα θα τερματίσουν εκτός πεντάδας στην Premier League. Στο Champions League συνεχίζουν Άρσεναλ και Άστον Βίλα, ενώ στο Europa League οι Μάντσεστερ Γιουνάιτεντ και Τότεναμ, οι οποίες έχουν μείνει πολύ πίσω στο πρωτάθλημα.
