Η ΑΕΚ άλωσε την έδρα της Βενέτσια (103-101), σε ένα... τρελό ματς-ψυχοβγάλτη που κρίθηκε με κάρφωμα του Ντελρόι Τζέιμς 2'' πριν από τη λήξη!

Αυτά... δεν γίνονται. Ή μάλλον γίνονται μόνο στο μπάσκετ! Η ΑΕΚ έχανε επί 38 λεπτά στη Βενετία, στο τέλος του κανονικού αγώνα βρέθηκε... αγκαλιά με τη νίκη, απώλεσε διαφορά έξι πόντων στα τελευταία δύο λεπτά της παράτασης, αλλά στο τέλος κατάφερε να νικήσει μέσα στην Ιταλία τη Βενέτσια 103-101 χάρις σε κάρφωμα του Ντελρόι Τζέιμς 2'' πριν από τη λήξη! Ήταν το πιο... παράδοξο φινάλε που έχουμε δει τα τελευταία χρόνια σε αγώνα ελληνικής ομάδας στην Ευρώπη.

Μάλιστα, το φινάλε θα μπορούσε να είναι ακόμα πιο τρελό (και δυσάρεστο συνάμα), εάν έμπαινε και το τρίποντο που... εκτόξευσε από απόσταση 18 μέτρων ο Ντομινικ Τζόνσον στην εκπνοή. Η μπάλα όμως χτύπησε στο μπροστινό μέρος της στεφάνης και έφυγε πάνω από το ταμπλό... Ναι, η τύχη ήταν αυτή τη φορά με την πλευρά της "Ένωσης", η οποία έχανε σχεδόν σε όλο το παιχνίδι, αλλά κατάφερε να προηγηθεί 1'14'' πριν από τη λήξη του κανονικού αγώνα (77-79) για πρώτη φορά από το 17' (32-34). Η "Ενωση" προηγήθηκε μάλιστα και με +3 στα 12,6'' (82-85). Από εκεί και πέρα το ματς απέκτησε άγρια ομορφιά. Ναι, 12,6'' πριν από τη λήξη...

Ο Γιαννούλης Λαρεντζάκης χρεώθηκε με αντιαθλητικό φάουλ στα 9,5'', ο Ντόμινικ Τζόνσον ευστόχησε σε δύο βολές (84-85) και στην επίθεση ο Ορελικ άρπαξε το επιθετικό ριμπάουντ μετά το άστοχο τρίποντο του Αμερικανού. Ο Λιθουανός κέρδισε φάουλ 0,9'' πριν από το τέλος αλλά αστόχησε στην πρώτη βολή, έβαλε τη δεύτερη και έστειλε το παιχνίδι στην παράταση. Την τέταρτη παράταση της Βενέτσια μετά τις τρεις που έπαιξε στον αγώνα της πρεμιέρας με τη Μπάνβιτ.

Η έξτρα περίοδος ανήκε πάντως στην ΑΕΚ. Έστω κι αν λίγο έλειψε πάλι να τα κάνει θάλασσα στο τέλος. Η ομάδα του Σωτήρη Μανωλόπουλου προηγήθηκε με 93-87 χάρις σε διαδοχικά τρίποντα των Σάκοτα, Γκριν. Ο Αμερικανος έβαλε μάλιστα άλλο ένα ζευγάρι βολών και έκανε επίσης το σκορ 92-97 με λέι-απ, ενώ έβαλε ξανά την ΑΕΚ μπροστά στο σκορ στα 17'' (99-101). Δεν έφτανε όμως. Στη συνέχεια ο Τζόνσον ισοφάρισε με κάρφωμα στα 8,2'' (101-101) και στην τελευταία φάση ο Ντελρόι Τζέιμς εκμεταλλεύτηκε το διάδρομο που του έδωσε η ιταλική άμυνα, καρφώνοντας μπροστά στον Μπράμο!

Ο MVP: Ο Μάικ Γκριν ήταν κακός επί ένα ημίχρονο, στο δεύτερο όμως ήταν ο υπεύθυνος για το comeback της ΑΕΚ. Ο Αμερικανός γκαρντ σημείωσε τους 18 από τους 23 πόντους του στο δεύτερο ημίχρονο και στην παράταση, έχοντας ακόμα 9/11 βολές, 6/14 σουτ, 4 ασίστ, 2 ριμπάουντ και 2 κλεψίματα σε 28'11''.
