Με πρωταγωνιστές του Κώστα Παπανικολάου και Δημήτρη Αγραβάνη, ο Ολυμπιακός νίκησε με 75-64 την Μπασκόνια στα Δύο Αοράκια και έκανε ιδανική εκκίνηση στην EuroLeague.
Τα προβλήματα όχι μόνο δεν λύγισαν τον Ολυμπιακό, αλλά τον συσπείρωσαν και τον βοήθησαν να γίνει όσο σκληρός χρειαζόταν για να κάνει ιδανική εκκίνηση στη EuroLeague. Φρόντισαν γι αυτό ο Κώστας Παπανικολάου και ο Δημήτρης Αγραβάνης, που ήρθαν από τον πάγκο και ουσιαστικά έκαναν τη δουλειά κάθε φορά που η Μπασκόνια γινόταν απειλητική. Το τελικό 75-64 είχε την υπογραφή των δύο παικτών, που είχαν άλλωστε και επιπλέον κίνητρο σε αυτό το ματς.
Ο μεν Παπανικολάου ήταν πρωταγωνιστής στο επεισόδιο με τον Γιάννη Σφαιρόπουλο στο ματς με τον Παναθηναϊκό, αλλά φάνηκε και στην πράξη πως και οι δύο το άφησαν πίσω τους. Ο δε Αγραβάνης, δεν είχε αγωνιστεί καθόλου και απέδειξε στον προπονητή του ότι αξίζει να βρίσκεται στο παρκέ.

Ο Δημήτρης Αγραβάνης εκμεταλλεύτηκε την ευκαιρία που του δόθηκε με τον τραυματισμό του Τιλί, πήρε χρόνο συμμετοχής και ήταν από τους βασικούς λόγους που πήρε τη νίκη ο Ολυμπιακός. Επαιξε 16:26, είχε 13 πόντους με 2/2 βολές, 4/4 δίποντα, 1/3 τρίποντα, 5 ριμπάουντ και 18 στην αξιολόγηση.
Ο ΑΓΩΝΑΣ
Ο Σενγκέλια ταλαιπώρησε τον Ολυμπιακό στην εκκίνηση του ματς γι αυτό ήρθε το 2-6 στο 4' και το τάιμ άουτ από τον Σφαιρόπουλο. Αλλωστε είχαν προηγηθεί πολλές βιαστικές επιθέσεις από πλευράς ερυθρολεύκων.
Μέχρι το 6' η Μπασκόνια είχε τον έλεγχο (9-12), αλλά τότε ήρθαν οι λύσεις από δύο παίκτες του πάγκου. Ο Παπανικολάου κέρδισε τέσσερις συνεχόμενες κατοχές χάρη στην άμυνά του, ο Αγραβάνης πέτυχε δύο συνεχόμενα γκολ φάουλ και με σερί 7-0, οι ερυθρόλευκοι έκλεισαν το δεκάλεπτο στο +4 (16-12).
Ο Σφαιρόπουλος έριξε στη μάχη και τον Τολιόπουλο και ο 21χρονος γκαρντ ανταποκρίθηκε στις απαιτήσεις. Μαζί με τον Τόμπσον έδωσαν επιθετικές λύσεις και κάπως έτσι το σκορ έγινε 25-16 στο 15'. Οταν τη σκυτάλη πήρε ο Στρέλνικς, ο Ολυμπιακός έκανε και το 39-26, έχοντας παράλληλα αναγκάσει την Μπασκόνια και σε 10 λάθη, χάρη στην πιεστική του άμυνα. Εν τέλει το ημίχρονο βρήκε τους ερυθρόλευκους στο +8, λόγω της χαλάρωσης στην άμυνα και των λύσεων που έδωσαν στους Βάσκους οι Γκρέιντζερ και Σενγκέλια.
Τα τρία φάουλ με τα οποία χρεώθηκε ο Σενγκέλια στην αρχή της επανάληψης βοήθησαν τον Πρίντεζη να βρει χώρο και ρυθμό, όμως συνολικά ο Ολυμπιακός δεν πήρε αυτό που ήθελε διότι η άμυνα δεν λειτούργησε εξίσου καλά. Η Μπασκόνια, λοιπόν, μείωσε σε 51-45 στο 26', αλλά όταν επανήλθαν Παπανικολάου και Αγραβάνης, οι ερυθρόλευκοι ανέβασαν την πίεσή τους και μαζί τη διαφορά (56-45 στον 27΄, 60-49 στο 30').
Ομως η Μπασκόνια ήταν αποφασισμένη να παλέψει, μείωσε σε 60-54 στο 32', αλλά ήταν και πάλι εκεί ο Αγραβάνης και ο Παπανικολάου (2 συνεχόμενα τρίποντα) για να δώσουν τις λύσεις και να γράψουν το 68-54 στο 33'.
