F1, Belgium: The formidable Antonelli took pole at the legendary Spa

Mercedes F1's Kimi Antonelli was the star of the qualifying sessions at the legendary Spa and will start from pole position for tomorrow's race.

The qualifying sessions for the Belgian Grand Prix, the 10th Formula 1 race in 2026, proved to be exciting once again. After a tough battle in Q3, Kimi Antonelli was the one who stood out again.

The Italian, with a formidable time at the end, wrote 1:44.361 and reached his 6th pole position in 2026. Next to him at the start will be Max Verstappen, who, with the help of his teammate with a slipstream, took 2nd place and will aim for victory tomorrow. Lando Norris was 3rd, but due to a 10-place penalty, George Russell will be in 3rd place.

Q1

The pitlane opened and the first cars appeared on the track. Ferrari had managed to repair Hamilton's car after the damage it suffered in FP3. The two Cadillacs and Stroll were first on the track and a little later the other drivers appeared.

Verstappen wrote the fastest lap of the three-day race with the good morning and showed his intentions early on. The one who overtook him was Norris, who had an excellent pace. The drivers made just one attempt before returning to their garages. Given that the two Aston Martins and the two Cadillacs would be out of the race, we were looking for the other two drivers who would be out of the fight.

The battle at the end of the process was great, with the positions outside the 16 changing constantly. Albon was eliminated in 17th by just 0.007s from Oliver Berman. He was also eliminated by Ocon, Bottas, Perez, Alonso and Stroll.

Q2

The 15-minute session began with the drivers taking to the track for their first passes. Antonelli recorded an impressive lap of 1:45.142 and left the others searching for him. The one who came closest to him was Leclerc, who was just two tenths of a second slower, while Norris recorded the third fastest effort. Lindblad was also impressive in 6th.

The battle for qualification was intense in the final minutes, with the drivers pushing to the limit for a good time. 10th-placed Bortoletto was under pressure, as was 9th-placed Hajar. The battle was ultimately between the Audi driver and Lawson, with the Brazilian winning.

Lawson finished 11th, with Gasly, Colapinto, Hulkenberg, Sainz and Berman all eliminated.

After the end of Q2, Hulkenberg stopped on the track with a problem with the hydraulics of his R26.

Q3

The battle for pole position began with the drivers taking to the track with a fresh set of soft tires. The Red Bull drivers were first, followed by the Mercedes drivers.

Antonelli posted a stunning time to pass Verstappen, who was in 1st place after receiving help from his teammate via slipstream in the final sector. However, the one who overtook him was Norris with a 1:44.801 to take provisional 1st place in Q3. Apart from Antonelli, Leclerc was also in the same tenth.

At that point the red flag came out to clear the track in the third sector. The classification was as follows: Norris, Antonelli, Leclerc, Verstappen, Hamilton, Russell, Piastre, Lindblad, Bortoletto and Hajar.

But everything was decided in the last attempts. Verstappen got the perfect slipstream from Hajar in the last sector of the track and this brought him back to 1st place. However, Antonelli had a different opinion and with 1:44.361 he took pole position. Norris failed to improve and remained in 3rd place, while both Ferrari drivers had a bad last lap.

Russell took 4th place, while the top 10 was completed by Leclerc, Hamilton, Piastre, Lindblad, Bortoletto and Hajar.

O Κίμι Αντονέλι της Mercedes F1 ήταν ο πρωταγωνιστής στις κατατακτήριες δοκιμές στο θρυλικό Σπα και θα εκκινήσει από την pole position τον αυριανό αγώνα.

Οι κατατακτήριες δοκιμές του Grand Prix Βελγίου, του 10ου αγώνα της Formula 1 στο 2026, αποδείχθηκαν για μία ακόμη φορά συναρπαστικές. Έπειτα από μία σκληρή μάχη στο Q3 o Κίμι Αντονέλι ήταν αυτός που ξεχώρισε και πάλι.

Ο Ιταλός με έναν τρομερό χρόνο στο τέλος έγραψε το 1:44,361 και έφτασε στην 6η του pole position στο 2026. Δίπλα του στην εκκίνηση θα έχει τον Μαξ Φερστάπεν, ο οποίος έχοντας τη βοήθεια του teammate του με slipstream πήρε τη 2η θέση και αύριο θα στοχεύσει στη νίκη. Ο Λάντο Νόρις ήταν 3ος, όμως λόγω ποινής 10 θέσεων, ο Τζορτζ Ράσελ θα είναι στην 3η θέση.

Q1

Το pitlane άνοιξε και τα πρώτα μονοθέσια έκαναν την εμφάνισή τους στην πίστα. Η Ferrari είχε καταφέρει να επιδιορθώσει το μονοθέσιο του Χάμιλτον έπειτα από τη ζημιά που υπέστη στο FP3. Οι δύο Cadillac και ο Στρολ ήταν πρώτοι στην πίστα και λίγο αργότερα εμφανίστηκαν και οι υπόλοιποι οδηγοί.

Ο Φερστάπεν έγραψε με το καλημέρα τον ταχύτερο γύρο του τριημέρου και έδειξε τις διαθέσεις του από νωρίς. Αυτός που τον ξεπέρασε ήταν ο Νόρις, ο οποίος είχε εξαιρετικό ρυθμό. Οι οδηγοί έκαναν μόλις μία προσπάθεια πριν επιστρέψουν στα γκαράζ τους. Με δεδομένο πως οι δύο Aston Martin και οι δύο Cadillac θα έμεναν εκτός συνέχειας, ψάχναμε τους άλλους δύο οδηγούς που θα έμεναν εκτός μάχης.

Η μάχη στο τέλος της διαδικασίας ήταν μεγάλη, με τις θέσεις εκτός 16άδας να αλλάζουν συνεχώς. Ο Άλμπον αποκλείστηκε ως 17ος για μόλις 0,007 δλ από τον Όλιβερ Μπέρμαν. Μαζί του αποκλείστηκαν οι Οκόν, Μπότας, Πέρεζ, Αλόνσο και Στρολ.

Q2

Το 15λεπτο ξεκίνησε με τους οδηγούς να βγαίνουν στην πίστα για τα πρώτα τους περάσματα. Ο Αντονέλι έγραψε έναν εντυπωσιακό γύρο στο 1:45,142 και άφησε τους υπόλοιπους να ψάχνονται. Αυτος που τον πλησίασε πιο πολύ ήταν ο Λεκλέρ, ο οποίος ήταν μόλις δύο δέκατα του δευτερολέπτου πιο αργός, ενώ ο Νόρις έγραψε την τρίτη ταχύτερη προσπάθεια. Εντυπωσιακός ήταν και ο 6ος Λίντμπλαντ.

Η μάχη για την πρόκριση ήταν έντονη στα τελευταία λεπτά, με τους οδηγούς να πιέζουν στο όριο για έναν καλό χρόνο. Ο 10ος Μπορτολέτο ήταν υπό πίεση, όπως και ο 9ος Χατζάρ. Η μάχη ήταν εν τέλει ανάμεσα στον οδηγό της Audi και του Λόσον, με τον Βραζιλιάνο να κερδίζει.

Ο Λόσον έμεινε 11ος και μαζί του αποκλείστηκαν οι Γκασλί, Κολαπίντο, Χούλκενμπεργκ, Σάινθ και Μπέρμαν.

Μετά το τέλος του Q2 o Χούλκενμπεργκ σταμάτησε στην πίστα με πρόβλημα στα υδραυλικά της R26 του.

Q3

Η μάχη της pole position ξεκίνησε με τους οδηγούς να βγαίνουν στην πίστα με φρέσκο σετ μαλακής γόμας ελαστικών. Πρώτοι ήταν οι οδηγοί της Red Bull και πίσω τους αυτοί της Mercedes.

Ο Αντονέλι έγραψε έναν εκπληκτικό χρόνο για να περάσει τον Φερστάπεν που ήταν 1ος έχοντας πάρει βοήθεια από τον teammate του μέσω slipstream στον τελευταίο τομέα. Όμως αυτός που τον ξεπέρασε ήταν ο Νόρις με το 1:44,801 πήρε την προσωρινή 1η θέση στο Q3. Πέρα από τον Αντονέλι, στο ίδιο δέκατο ήταν και ο Λεκλέρ.

Σε εκείνο το σημείο βγήκε η κόκκινη σημαία για να καθαριστεί η πίστα στον τρίτο τομέα. Η κατάταξη είχε ως εξής: Νόρις, Αντονέλι, Λεκλέρ, Φερστάπεν, Χάμιλτον, Ράσελ, Πιάστρι, Λίντμπλαντ, Μπορτολέτο και Χατζάρ.

Όλα όμως κρίθηκαν στις τελευταίες προσπάθειες. Ο Φερστάπεν πήρε το τέλειο slipstream από τον Χατζάρ στον τελευταίο τομέα της πίστας και αυτό τον επανέφερε στην 1η θέση. Όμως ο Αντονέλι είχε διαφορετική άποψη και με το 1:44,361 πήρε την pole position. Ο Νόρις δεν κατάφερε να βελτιώσει και έμεινε στην 3η θέση, ενώ κακό τελευταίο γύρο είχαν και οι δύο οδηγοί της Ferrari.

O Ράσελ πήρε την 4η θέση, ενώ την πρώτη 10άδα συμπλήρωσαν οι Λεκλέρ, Χάμιλτον, Πιάστρι, Λίντμπλαντ, Μπορτολέτο και Χατζάρ.
