Greece - Spain 66-69: "Harakiri" of the National Youth Team, led by 29 and was eliminated
The National Youth Team suffered a blackout in the last quarter and the unyielding Spain came back from -29 to win 69-66 and book a ticket to the semifinals of the Eurobasket U18.
It's a shame for the National Youth Team that it does not continue its journey to the Eurobasket U18, while it had embraced the qualification. After the great qualification against Serbia, Greece was enjoyable in the first half in the quarterfinals against Spain, but everything changed in the second and especially in the fourth quarter.
The Spanish came back from -29 and the -20 that had formed in the 29th minute and prevailed with 69-66, qualifying for the semifinals. With a terrific 7-26 partial score in the 4th period, the Iberians turned the match around.
In the semi-final, Spain will face Slovenia, while Greece will now be content with classification matches and will face Israel for positions 5-8.
The match
Our National Team imposed its rhythm from the start with very beautiful basketball, dominating in attack and defense. Indicative of this is the fact that the first quarter ended with the score at 29-13. The situation did not change until halftime, where Greece had a... party with 48-26.
However, the Spanish did not give up and reduced it to 63-58 with Fernandez in the 34th minute. Viger equalized and forced Skropolithas to call a timeout. Fernandez scored 66-69, while Hadjilambro missed the shot that would have sent the match to overtime in the last second. In a real... hara-kiri for our National Team.
For Greece, Hadjilambro was the top scorer with 24 points, Poulos had 12 while Skliros finished the match with 10 points.. On the other hand, for Spain, Ruiz had 22 points and Fernandez 15 points.

Η Εθνική Εφήβων υπέστη black out στο τελευταίο δεκάλεπτο και η αλύγιστη Ισπανία επέστρεψε από το -29 για να νικήσει με 69-66 και να κλείσει εισιτήριο στα ημιτελικά του Eurobasket U18.
Κρίμα για την Εθνική Εφήβων που δεν συνεχίζει το ταξίδι της στο Eurobasket U18, ενώ είχε αγκαλιάσει την πρόκριση. Μετά τη σπουδαία πρόκριση επί της Σερβίας, η Ελλάδα ήταν απολαυστική στο πρώτο ημίχρονο στον προημιτελικό κόντρα στην Ισπανία, αλλά όλα άλλαξαν στο δεύτερο και ειδικά στο τέταρτο δεκάλεπτο.
Οι Ισπανοί επέστρεψαν από το -29 και το -20 που είχε διαμορφωθεί στο 29' και επικράτησαν με 69-66, παίρνοντας πρόκριση για τα ημιτελικά. Με ένα φοβερό επιμέρους 7-26 στην 4η περίοδο, οι Ίβηρες έφεραν τούμπα το ματς.
Στον ημιτελικό η Ισπανία θα κοντραριστεί με τη Σλοβενία, ενώ πλέον η Ελλάδα θα αρκεστεί σε αγώνες κατάταξης και θα αντιμετωπίσει το Ισραήλ για τις θέσεις 5-8.
Το ματς
Η Εθνική μας επέβαλε τον ρυθμό της από το ξεκίνημα με πολύ όμορφο μπάσκετ, κυριαρχώντας σε επίθεση και άμυνα. Ενδεικτικό αυτού πως το πρώτο δεκάλεπτο τελείωσε με το σκορ στο 29-13. H κατάσταση δεν άλλαξε μέχρι το ημίχρονο, εκεί όπου Ελλάδα έκανε... πάρτι με 48-26.
Οι Ισπανοί όμως δεν τα παράτησαν και μείωσαν σε 63-58 με τον Φερνάντεθ στο 34'. Ο Βιγκέρ ισοφάρισε και ανάγκασε τον Σκροπολίθα να καλέσει timeout. Ο Φερνάντεθ έγραψε το 66-69, ενώ ο Χατζηλάμπρου αστόχησε στο σουτ που θα έστελνε το ματς στην παράταση στο τελευταίο δευτερόλεπτο. Σε ένα πραγματικό... χαρακίρι για την Εθνική μας.
Για την Ελλάδα ο Χατζηλάμπρου ήταν πρώτος σκόρερ με 24 πόντους, ο Πούλος είχε 12 ενώ ο Σκληρός τελείωσε την αναμέτρηση με 10 πόντους.. Στον αντίποδα για την Ισπανία ο Ρουίθ είχε 22 πόντους και ο Φερνάντεθ 15 πόντους.
Σε αυτή την πορεία της Εθνικής Εφήβων, άτυχος έχει σταθεί ο Μπιλιώνης της ΑΕΚ, που υπέστη ρήξη χιαστού στο ματς της Ελλάδας με τη Σερβία.
