F1, Belgium: Antonelli scares the competition in FP2

Mercedes F1's Kimi Antonelli was the fastest driver in the second session of Formula 1 free practice at the magnificent Spa.

The action at the Belgian Grand Prix, the 10th Formula 1 race weekend in 2026, continued with FP2. Teams and drivers had just one hour to execute their program and get valuable data for the rest of the season.

In the process, we saw the drivers do the first qualifying simulations, but no race simulations due to interruptions in the process.

Mercedes "showed" its teeth

The fastest driver in FP2 of the Belgian GP was Kimi Antonelli. The Mercedes driver was very fast and with the soft tires he wrote 1:45.944 to take 1st place. Mercedes improved the setup of the W17 which showed strength in all three timed sections and took the lead for the rest of the three-day race. Its gain from FP1 to FP2 was 1.6 seconds.

In 2nd place was McLaren Racing's Lando Norris. The world champion showed himself comfortable in the MCL40, without having any problems this time and was 0.190 seconds away from the top in FP2. Until the second section of the track the Briton was on the same pace as Antonelli, but he lost all the difference in the last section.

Red Bull and Ferrari lost ground

In 3rd place in the standings was Max Verstappen. The Dutch driver of Red Bull Racing was almost half a second off the top, with the dynamics of the cars changing significantly in the afternoon session. In contrast to FP1, the RB22 was very strong in the first and third sections of the track.

Lewis Hamilton took 4th place, but the difference of 0.747 seconds from Antonelli must be a serious concern for Scuderia Ferrari. The biggest surprise was that in the second section with many consecutive turns, the SF-26 lost half a second to both drivers.

In 5th place was Isak Hajar in the second RB22, ahead of McLaren's Oscar Piastre. Alpine's Franco Collapito was impressive in 7th place, who overtook the disappointing George Russell. The Briton is 1.2 seconds behind Antonelli after FP2 and is being sought. The top 10 was completed by Racing Bulls drivers Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad.

The two red flags

FP2 was interrupted twice. The first occurred in the first 15 minutes, when drivers filled the track with gravel at the exit of Stavelot 1 and the area had to be cleared.

The second red flag appeared 12 minutes before the end of the procedure. The reason was the accident that Pierre Gasly of Alpine had at the end of the second section of the track, filling the track with debris.

The rest of the three-day session

The action continues on Saturday with FP3, the final free practice session at Spa, at 13:30 Greek time.

O Κίμι Αντονέλι της Mercedes F1 ήταν ο ταχύτερος οδηγός στη δεύτερη περίοδο ελεύθερων δοκιμών της Formula 1 στο μαγευτικό Σπα.

Η δράση στο Grand Prix Βελγίου, το 10 αγωνιστικό τριήμερο της Formula 1 στο 2026, συνεχίστηκε με το FP2. Ομάδες και οδηγοί είχαν μόλις μία ώρα στη διάθεσή τους ώστε να εκτελέσουν το πρόγραμμά τους και να πάρουν πολύτιμα δεδομένα για τη συνέχεια.

Στη διαδικασία είδαμε τους οδηγούς να κάνουν τις πρώτες προσομοιώσεις κατατακτήριων δοκιμών, όμως όχι προσομοιώσεις αγώνα λόγω διακοπών στη διαδικασία.

Η Mercedes «έδειξε» τα δόντια της

Ταχύτερος οδηγός στο FP2 του GP Βελγίου ήταν ο Κίμι Αντονέλι. Ο οδηγός της Mercedes ήταν ταχύτατος και με τη μαλακή γόμα ελαστικών έγραψε το 1:45,944 για να πάρει την 1η θέση. Η Mercedes βελτίωσε το στήσιμο της W17 που έδειξε δυνατή και στα τρία χρονομετρημένα κομμάτια και πήρε προβάδισμα για τη συνέχεια του τριημέρου. Το κέρδος της από το FP1 στο FP2 ήταν 1,6 δευτερόλεπτα.

Στη 2η θέση ήταν ο Λάντο Νόρις της McLaren Racing. O παγκόσμιος πρωταθλητής έδειξε άνετος στην MCL40, δίχως να έχει αυτή τη φορά προβλήματα και ήταν 0,190 δλ μακριά από την κορυφή στο FP2. Μέχρι τον δεύτερο τομέα της πίστας ο Βρετανός ήταν στον ίδιο ρυθμό με τον Αντονέλι, όμως έχασε όλη τη διαφορά στο τελευταίο κομμάτι.

Red Bull και Ferrari έχασαν έδαφος

Στην 3η θέση της κατάταξης ήταν ο Μαξ Φερστάπεν. Ο Ολλανδός οδηγός της Red Bull Racing ήταν σχεδόν μισό δευτερόλεπτο μακριά από την κορυφή, με τη δυναμική των μονοθεσίων να αλλάζει σημαντικά στην απογευματινή διαδικασία. Σε αντίθεση με το FP1, η RB22 ήταν πολύ δυνατή στο πρώτο και το τρίτο κομμάτι της πίστας.

Ο Λιούις Χάμιλτον πήρε την 4η θέση, όμως η διαφορά των 0,747 δλ από τον Αντονέλι πρέπει να προβληματίζει έντονα τη Scuderia Ferrari. Η μεγαλύτερη έκπληξη ήταν πως στο δεύτερο κομμάτι με τις πολλές διαδοχικές στροφές η SF-26 έχανε στα χέρια και των δύο της οδηγών μισό δευτερόλεπτο.

Στην 5η θέση βρέθηκε ο Ίσακ Χατζάρ με τη δεύτερη RB22, μπροστά από τον Όσκαρ Πιάστρι της McLaren. Εντυπωσιακός ήταν ο Φράνκο Κολαπίντο της Alpine στην 7η θέση, ο οποίος ξεπέρασε τον απογοητευτικό Τζορτζ Ράσελ. Ο Βρετανός είναι 1,2 δλ πίσω από τον Αντονέλι μετά το FP2 και ψάχνεται. Την πρώτη 10άδα συμπλήρωσαν οι οδηγοί της Racing Bulls, Λίαμ Λόσον και Άρβιντ Λίντμπλαντ.

Οι δύο κόκκινες σημαίες

Το FP2 διεκόπη δύο φορές. Η πρώτη συνέβη στα πρώτα 15 λεπτά, όταν οδηγοί γέμισαν με χαλίκια την πίστα στην έξοδο της Στάβελοτ 1 και το σημείο έπρεπε να καθαριστεί.

Η δεύτερη κόκκινη σημαία εμφανίστηκε 12 λεπτά πριν από το φινάλε της διαδικασίας. Ο λόγος ήταν το ατύχημα που είχε ο Πιέρ Γκασλί της Alpine στο τέλος του δεύτερου τομέα της πίστας, γεμίζοντας με θραύσματα την πίστα.

Η συνέχεια του τριημέρου

Η δράση συνεχίζεται το Σάββατο με το FP3, την τελευταία περίοδο ελεύθερων δοκιμών στο Σπα, στις 13:30 ώρα Ελλάδος.
