Stefanos Tsitsipas had to go through… adventures to book a place in the quarterfinals of Gstaad. The Greek champion found himself in a difficult position against Jerome Kim, but in the final he showed character and took the victory in the tie-break of the third set, sealing his qualification.

The match had started yesterday, but bad weather and then darkness interrupted it at 5-5 in the third set. Today, with the restart, Tsitsipas entered more focused, knowing that the slightest mistake could cost him.

It had been preceded by a first set in which Steph took the only break of the match and a second in which Kim withstood the only break point he faced, sending the set to a tie-break and leveling at 7-2, taking advantage of the Greek's failures.

In the decisive third set, Tsitsipas found himself behind 1-3 in the tie-break, but from that point he picked up speed, avoided errors and took six of the next eight points, completing the upset. The qualification was accompanied by an intense outburst, a sign of the pressure that had accumulated.

With this victory, Tsitsipas continues to the quarterfinals of the Swiss Open Gstaad, showing that despite the difficulties, he remains capable of finding solutions in the most demanding points of a match.

Ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς δυσκολεύτηκε απέναντι στον Ζερόμ Κιμ, όμως με ψυχραιμία στο tie-break του τρίτου σετ πήρε τη νίκη και εξασφάλισε την παρουσία του στα προημιτελικά του Γκστάαντ!

Ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς χρειάστηκε να περάσει από… περιπέτειες για να κλείσει θέση στα προημιτελικά του Γκστάαντ. Ο Έλληνας πρωταθλητής βρέθηκε σε δύσκολη θέση απέναντι στον Ζερόμ Κιμ, όμως στο φινάλε έδειξε χαρακτήρα και πήρε τη νίκη στο tie-break του τρίτου σετ, σφραγίζοντας την πρόκριση.

Το ματς είχε ξεκινήσει χθες, αλλά η κακοκαιρία και στη συνέχεια το σκοτάδι το διέκοψαν στο 5-5 του τρίτου σετ. Σήμερα, με την επανέναρξη, ο Τσιτσιπάς μπήκε πιο συγκεντρωμένος, γνωρίζοντας ότι το παραμικρό λάθος θα μπορούσε να του κοστίσει.

Είχε προηγηθεί ένα πρώτο σετ όπου ο Στεφ πήρε το μοναδικό break του αγώνα και ένα δεύτερο στο οποίο ο Κιμ άντεξε στο μοναδικό break point που αντιμετώπισε, στέλνοντας το σετ στο tie-break και ισοφαρίζοντας με 7-2, εκμεταλλευόμενος τις αστοχίες του Έλληνα.

Στο καθοριστικό τρίτο σετ, ο Τσιτσιπάς βρέθηκε πίσω με 1-3 στο tie-break, αλλά από εκείνο το σημείο ανέβασε στροφές, απέφυγε τα λάθη και πήρε έξι από τους οκτώ επόμενους πόντους, ολοκληρώνοντας την ανατροπή. Η πρόκριση συνοδεύτηκε από έντονο ξέσπασμα, δείγμα της πίεσης που είχε συσσωρευτεί.

Με αυτήν τη νίκη, ο Τσιτσιπάς συνεχίζει στα προημιτελικά του Swiss Open Gstaad, δείχνοντας ότι παρά τις δυσκολίες, παραμένει ικανός να βρει λύσεις στα πιο απαιτητικά σημεία ενός αγώνα.
