As reported by Gazzetta dello sport, the Technical Director and the advisor of the Italian national team submitted their resignations after 16 days.

The reason was the president's blocking of the hiring of Andrea Pirlo for the position of coach of the Squadra Azzurra.

The two experienced and qualified football players felt that their first moves were not appreciated by the authorities and so they chose to leave with their heads held high.

In the first two weeks that they had taken charge of the Italian national team, they spoke with Guardiola and Ancelotti, with both coaches refusing the position.

So, they turned to Pirlo and while everything seemed to be ending the matter and white smoke was coming out on the subject of the next coach of the four-time World Champion, it broke down at the last minute.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Roberto Mancini is in pole position.

Ο Πάολο Μαλντίνι και ο Λεονάρντο υπέβαλαν την παραίτηση τους στον πρόεδρο της ιταλικής Ομοσπονδίας μετά από 16 ημέρες, σύμφωνα με το Gazzetta dello sport. Χαμός στην Σκουάντρα Ατζούρα.

Η συνάντηση το μεσημέρι της Δευτέρας 27/07 με τον Τζιοβάνι Μαλαγκό και τους Μαλντίνι και Λεονάρντο δεν έβγαλε θετικό αποτέλεσμα.

Όπως ανέφερε η Gazzetta dello sport, ο Τεχνικός Διευθυντής και ο σύμβουλος της εθνικής Ιταλίας υπέβαλαν την παραίτηση τους μετά από 16 ημέρες.

Αφορμή ήταν το μπλόκο του προέδρου στην πρόσληψη του Αντρέα Πίρλο για την θέση του προπονητή της Σκουάντρα Ατζούρα. 

Οι δύο έμπειροι και καταρτισμένοι ποδοσφαιράνθρωποι θεώρησαν πως οι πρώτες κινήσεις τους δεν εκτιμήθηκαν από τους αρμόδιους και έτσι επέλεξαν να φύγουν με το κεφάλι ψηλά.

Τις δύο πρώτες βδομάδες που είχαν αναλάβει τον σχεδιασμό της εθνικής Ιταλίας μίλησαν με τους Γκουαρδιόλα και Αντσελότι, με τους δύο τεχνικούς να αρνούνται τη θέση.

Έτσι, στράφηκαν στον Πίρλο και ενώ όλα έδειχναν να τελειώνει το θέμα και να βγαίνει λευκός καπνός στο θέμα του επόμενου προπονητή της τετράκις Παγκόσμιας Πρωταθλήτριας, χάλασε την τελευταία στιγμή.

Σύμφωνα με τον Τζιανλούκα Ντι Μάρτζιο, στην pole position βρίσκεται ο Ρομπέρτο Μαντσίνι.
