Maria Sakkari qualified for the semifinals of the Vanda Pharmaceuiticals Athens Open, prevailing 6-4, 6-3 over Alicia Parks in the quarterfinals of the event.

In yet another match at the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Athens Open, Maria Sakkari was amazing! The Greek tennis player dominated Alicia Parks without dropping a set 6-4, 6-3 and qualified for the semifinals of the event.

The 30-year-old tennis player got her first victory against the American, against whom she had only lost to date. On the part of the Greek player, her performance was excellent, making it difficult for her opponent who could not cope with her very good rhythm.

In the... battle of the break, the Greek player emerged victorious

The match began with Alicia Parks serving. The American took the first game with Maria Sakkari following by holding her serve (1-1). Then, the Greek player managed to make a break, but the American immediately took it back (2-2). Of course, the breaks did not stop there with Sakkari making another one and taking the lead in the score (3-2).

In fact, the hold came very quickly for the 30-year-old tennis player (4-2), which gave her a clear lead to win the first set. Maria Sakkari was not threatened until the end of the first set and with a score of 6-4 took the lead in the match.

With a quick break she set... a course for the semi-finals

The second set started like the first! The two tennis players took one game each and in the third game Maria Sakkari broke her opponent's serve (2-1). For her part, the Greek maintained her service games at an excellent level, again taking a two-game lead (3-1).

She was not threatened at all by her opponent, thus managing to win the set 6-3 and celebrate with the Greek audience her qualification to the semi-finals of the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Athens Open. There Maria Sakkari will face Alina Korneeva.

Η Μαρία Σάκκαρη προκρίθηκε στα ημιτελικά του Vanda Pharmaceuiticals Athens Open, επικρατώντας με 6-4, 6-3 της Αλίσια Παρκς στον προημιτελικό της διοργάνωσης.

Σε ακόμη ένα ματς στο Vanda Pharmaceuticals Athens Open η Μαρία Σάκκαρη ήταν εκπληκτική! Η Ελληνίδα τενίστρια χωρίς να χάσει σετ κυριάρχησε της Αλίσια Παρκς με 6-4, 6-3 και προκρίθηκε στα ημιτελικά του θεσμού.

Η 30χρονη τενίστρια πήρε την πρώτη της νίκη κόντρα στην Αμερικανίδα, κόντρα στην οποία μέχρι σήμερα είχε μόνο ήττες. Από τη μεριά της Ελληνίδας η απόδοσή της ήταν εξαιρετική, βάζοντας δύσκολα στην αντίπαλό της η οποία δεν μπορούσε να ανταπεξέλθει στον πολύ καλό ρυθμό της.

Στη... μάχη τον break η Ελληνίδα βγήκε νικήτρια

Η αναμέτρηση ξεκίνησε με την Αλίσια Παρκς να σερβίρει. Η Αμερικανίδα πήρε το πρώτο game με τη Μαρία Σάκκαρη να ακολουθεί κρατώντας το σερβίς της (1-1). Στη συνέχεια, η Ελληνίδα κατάφερε να κάνει break, ωστόσο η Αμερικανίδα το πήρε αμέσως πίσω (2-2). Βέβαια, τα breaks δεν σταμάτησαν εκεί με τη Σάκκαρη να πραγματοποιεί ακόμη ένα και να παίρνει κεφάλι στο σκορ (3-2).

Μάλιστα, πολύ γρήγορα ήρθε το hold για την 30χρονη τενίστρια (4-2), το οποίο της έδωσε σαφές προβάδισμα για την κατάκτηση του πρώτου σετ. Η Μαρία Σάκκαρη δεν απειλήθηκε έως το τέλος του πρώτου σετ και με σκορ 6-4 πήρε προβάδισμα στην αναμέτρηση.

Με ένα γρήγορο break έβαλε... πλώρη για τον ημιτελικό

Το δεύτερο σετ ξεκίνησε όπως το πρώτο! Οι δύο τενίστριες πήραν από ένα game και στο τρίτο game η Μαρία Σάκκαρη έκανε break στο σερβίς της αντιπάλου της (2-1). Από την πλευρά της η Ελληνίδα διατήρησε σε εξαιρετικό επίπεδο τα service games της, παίρνοντας ξανά απόσταση δύο games (3-1).

Η ίδια δεν απειλήθηκε καθόλου από την αντίπαλό της, καταφέρνοντας έτσι να φτάσει στην κατάκτηση σετ με 6-3 και να πανηγυρίσει με το ελληνικό κοινό την πρόκρισή της στα ημιτελικά του Vanda Pharmaceuticals Athens Open. Εκεί η Μαρία Σάκκαρη θα αντιμετωπίσει την Αλίνα Κορνέεβα.
