Panathinaikos AKTOR – Efes 87-80: Master of turnarounds in the playoffs, made it 1-0 with an unimaginable Juancho and clutch Grant (video)
Panathinaikos made another turnaround, defeated Efes 87-80 and wants two more victories for Abu Dhabi. Magical Juancho Ernagomet with 20 points, 16 rebounds, clutch Jerian Grant with a three-pointer at 30.6″ before the finale.
Overturn at OAKA? Overturn at OAKA. Panathinaikos did it again, for the umpteenth time this year. Now, however, he did not achieve it in the regular season, but in Game 1 of the EuroLeague playoffs, against Anadolu Efes, which he defeated 87-80 despite losing by 8 points (64-72) in 30′. The Greens made a huge effort in the last period, they got a huge boost from their fans.
The MVP
There is no doubt. There is no question. Juancho Hernangomez was by far the second most valuable player of the Greens. The Spanish forward closed the match with 20 points, 16 rebounds (career-high), 3 assists, 3 steals.
Efes entered the match with 0/6 three-pointers in the first period, but made 5/8 in the second. At the same time, by the break, Luca Banki's team had scored 18 points in surprise. At the end of the game, the points in transition were 16-26 (with Efes not scoring there in the 4th period), the points from opponent's mistakes were 20-19 and the second chance points were 21-11 from 12 and 13 offensive rebounds respectively.

The game
Having Yurtseven as a reference point (6 points, 3 rebounds) and with two three-pointers from Nan – Osman, Panathinaikos had a double-score (12-6) in the 4th minute. Poirier, however, scored 10 quick points to make it 17-14 at 7’30”. Efes reduced the lead to a point (19-18, 9’14”) with Bryant reaching 8 points, but Juancho made it 21-18 (10′) with 5 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block in the period.
With successive good phases in defense and offense, the greens increased the difference to 10 points (30-20, 12′). The situation changed completely after Banky’s time-out, with the guests scoring 5/5 three-pointers to get a double-digit difference (36-46, 18′). Finally, the team went to the locker room at -8 (40-48, 20′).
With an 11-7 partial, the home team reduced the lead to 51-55 (24’25”). Larkin and Bryant made it 51-60 (25’12”). Nan with a three-pointer and Juancho with back-to-back baskets answered for 58-60 (26′). Efes went on a 10-0 run, while Nan and the bench were charged with technical penalties (27’35”) for protesting after an offensive foul was called on the American guard. The end of the 3rd period found the Turks at +8 (64-72). However, the Greens entered the last quarter with an 8-0 run to tie the game (72-72, 32’34”). Ataman's team overtook with a three-pointer by Osman at 35’17” (78-76).
Grad and Gabriel won offensive fouls from Willis and Poirier, but the greens did not score on the other side and Bryant wrote 78-78 (37’26”). Gabriel made 2/2 shots, Shane Larkin 1/2 and Sloukas 2/2 to make it 82-79 with 1’24” on the clock.

Ο Παναθηναϊκός έκανε μία ακόμα ανατροπή, λύγισε την Εφές με 87-80 και θέλει άλλες δύο νίκες για το Άμπου Ντάμπι. Μαγικός Χουάντσο Ερναγκόμεθ με 20 πόντους, 16 ριμπάουντ, clutch Τζέριαν Γκραντ με τρίποντο στα 30.6″ πριν το φινάλε.
Ανατροπή στο ΟΑΚΑ; Ανατροπή στο ΟΑΚΑ. Ο Παναθηναϊκός το έκανε ξανά, για πολλοστή φορά φέτος. Τώρα δεν το πέτυχε όμως στην regular season, αλλά στο Game 1 των playoffs της EuroLeague, απέναντι στην Αναντολού Εφές, την οποία και λύγισε με 87-80 παρότι έχανε με 8 πόντους 64-72) στο 30′. Οι πράσινοι έκαναν τεράστια προσπάθεια στην τελευταία περίοδο, πήραν τεράστια ώθηση από τον κόσμο τους.
O MVP
Δεν χωράει αμφιβολία. Δεν τίθεται ερώτημα. Ο Χουάντσο Ερνανγκόμεθ ήταν μακράν του δεύτερου ο πολυτιμότερος παίκτης των πρασίνων. Ο Ισπανός φόργουορντ έκλεισε το ματς με 20 πόντους, 16 ριμπάουντ (career-high), 3 ασίστ, 3 κλεψίματα.
Η Εφές μπήκε στο ματς με 0/6 τρίποντα στην πρώτη περίοδο, όμως έβαλε 5/8 στη δεύτερη. Παράλληλα, μέχρι την ανάπαυλα η ομάδα του Λούκα Μπάνκι είχε βρει και 18 πόντους στον αιφνιδιασμό. Στο τέλος του αγώνα οι πόντοι στο transition ήταν 16-26 (με την Εφές να μην βρίσκει σκορ εκεί στην 4η περίοδο), οι πόντοι από λάθη αντιπάλου 20-19 και οι πόντοι δεύτερης ευκαιρίας 21-11 από 12 και 13 επιθετικά ριμπάουντ αντίστοιχα.

Ο αγώνας
Έχοντας ως σημείο αναφοράς τον Γιούρτσεβεν (6 πόντοι, 3 ριμπάουντ) και με δύο τρίποντα από Ναν – Όσμαν ο Παναθηναϊκός είχε double-score (12-6) στο 4′. Ο Πουαριέ έβαλε, όμως, 10 γρήγορους πόντους για να γράψει το 17-14 στο 7’30”. Η Εφές μείωσε στον πόντο (19-18, 9’14”) με τον Μπράιαντ να φτάνει στους 8 πόντους, αλλά ο Χουάντσο έγραψε το 21-18 (10′) μετρώντας 5 πόντους, 5 ριμπάουντ, 2 ασίστ, 1 μπλοκ στην περίοδο.
Με διαδοχικές καλές φάσεις σε άμυνα και επίθεση οι πράσινοι ανέβασαν τη διαφορά στους 10 πόντους (30-20, 12′). Η κατάσταση άλλαξε εντελώς μετά το time-out του Μπάνκι, με τους φιλοξενούμενους να βάζουν 5/5 τρίποντα για να πάρουν εκείνοι διψήφια διαφορά (36-46, 18′). Τελικά το τρφύλλι πήγε στα αποδυτήρια βρισκόμενο στο -8 (40-48, 20′).
Με ένα επιμέρους 11-7, οι γηπεδούχοι μείωσαν σε 51-55 (24’25”). Λάρκιν και Μπράιαντ διαμόρφωσαν το 51-60 (25’12”). Ναν με τρίποντο και Χουάντσο με απανωτά καλάθια απάντησαν για το 58-60 (26′). Η Εφές έτρεξε σερί 10-0, ενώ Ναν και πάγκος χρεώθηκαν με τεχνικές ποινές (27’35”) για διαμαρτυρία μετά από επιθετικό φάουλ που δόθηκε στον Αμερικανό γκαρντ.

Γκραντ και Γκέιμπριελ κέρδισαν επιθετικά φάουλ από Γουίλις και Πουαριέ, όμως οι πράσινοι δεν σκόραραν στην άλλη πλευρά και ο Μπράιαντ έγραψε το 78-78 (37’26”). Ο Γκέιμπριελ έβαλε 2/2 βολές, ο Σέιν Λάρκιν 1/2 και ο Σλούκας 2/2 για να προκύψει το 82-79 με 1’24” στο χρονόμετρο.
