"Haaland wouldn't score 60 goals if he played at Rochdale"

An interesting point of view about Erling Haaland was expressed by Paul Merson.

With the Euro's main strikers restricted to mediocre nights so far in Germany, there has been plenty of talk about the absence of Norway and of course Erling Haaland.

However, according to Paul Merson, the Manchester City goal scorer is not that effective when he is not playing with the "civilians" players!

Speaking on the Football's Greatest: Euros podcast with Jeff Stelling, the veteran footballer and current commentator said: 'You're only as good as your teammates.

Whichever league you're in. I don't believe Haaland would go to Rochdale and score 60 goals in one season. It just doesn't happen. You have to be around incredible players to be an incredible player."

Perhaps predictably, Stelling disagreed, with Merson sticking to his original point.

Μία ενδιαφέρουσα άποψη για τον Έρλινγκ Χάαλαντ εξέφρασε ο Πολ Μέρσον.

Με τους σημαντικότερους επιθετικούς του Euro να έχουν περιοριστεί σε μέτριες βραδιές μέχρι τώρα στη Γερμανία, μπόλικη κουβέντα έχει γίνεται για την απουσία της Νορβηγίας και φυσικά του Έρλινγκ Χάαλαντ.

Σύμφωνα πάντως με τον Πολ Μέρσον, ο γκολτζής της Μάντσεστερ Σίτι δεν είναι και τόσο αποτελεσματικός όταν δεν παίζει με τους παιχταράδες των «πολιτών»!

Μιλώντας στο podcast Football's Greatest: Euros μαζί με τον Τζεφ Στέλινγκ, ο παλαίμαχος ποδοσφαιριστής και νυν σχολιαστής ανέφερε πως «είσαι τόσο καλός, όσο καλοί είναι οι συμπαίκτες σου.

Σε όποιο πρωτάθλημα κι αν είσαι. Δεν πιστεύω πως ο Χάαλαντ θα πήγαινε στη Ρότσντεϊλ και θα έβαζε 60 γκολ σε μία σεζόν. Απλά δεν συμβαίνει. Πρέπει να είσαι δίπλα σε απίστευτους παίκτες για να είσαι απίστευτος παίκτης».

Μάλλον αναμενόμενα, ο Στέλινγκ διαφώνησε, με τον Μέρσον πάντως να εμμένει στην αρχική του άποψη.
