Panathinaikos: Holmes is gone

Panathinaikos announced the end of its collaboration with Rishon Holmes, after the match against Dubai Basketball in Sarajevo.

Ergin Ataman left Rishon Holmes out of the team for the match against Dubai Basketball and after the "greens"' victory in Sarajevo, Panathinaikos KAE officially announced that the American former NBAer will not continue with the team.

Ataman had essentially announced this development, explaining during the "clover"'s departure for Bosnia that it was a management issue. Thus, the Greek Cup Winners will close the season without Holmes, who did not manage to stay long at the Telekom Center Athens, ending his presence prematurely.

Moreover, Ataman's substitution at halftime of the recent match against AEK was the turning point, given that the Turkish coach did not hide his strong dissatisfaction and was particularly sharp in his statements, emphasizing that Holmes was sleeping on the floor.

The tall American player averaged 7.9 points and 4.3 rebounds in 29 EuroLeague appearances, staying on the floor for 18:44 minutes per game in his first season in Europe. Against Villeurbanne, he had his best performance in the competition, making a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds.

Now, Panathinaikos will finish the 2025/26 season with Mathias Lesor and Kenneth Farid as pure centers.

Ο Παναθηναϊκός ανακοίνωσε τη λύση της συνεργασίας του με τον Ρισόν Χολμς, μετά τον αγώνα με την Dubai Basketball στο Σαράγεβο.

Ο Εργκίν Άταμαν άφησε τον Ρισόν Χολμς εκτός αποστολής για την αναμέτρηση με την Dubai Basketball και μετά τη νίκη των «πράσινων» στο Σαράγεβο, η ΚΑΕ Παναθηναϊκός ανακοίνωσε επίσημα ότι ο Αμερικανός πρώην NBAer δεν θα συνεχίσει στην ομάδα.

Ο Άταμαν είχε προαναγγείλει ουσιαστικά τη συγκεκριμένη εξέλιξη, εξηγώντας κατά την αναχώρηση του «τριφυλλιού» για τη Βοσνία ότι πρόκειται για ζήτημα της διοίκησης. Έτσι, οι Κυπελλούχοι Ελλάδας θα κλείσουν τη σεζόν χωρίς τον Χολμς, ο οποίος δεν κατάφερε να μακροημερεύσει στο Telekom Center Athens, ολοκληρώνοντας πρόωρα την παρουσία του.

Εξάλλου, η τοποθέτηση του Άταμαν στο ημίχρονο του πρόσφατου αγώνα με την ΑΕΚ αποτέλεσε το σημείο καμπής, με δεδομένο ότι ο Τούρκος προπονητής δεν έκρυψε την έντονη δυσαρέσκειά του και ήταν ιδιαίτερα αιχμηρός στις δηλώσεις του, τονίζοντας πως ο Χολμς κοιμόταν στο παρκέ.

Ο Αμερικανός ψηλός μέτρησε 7.9 πόντους και 4.3 ριμπάουντ σε 29 συμμετοχές στη EuroLeague, μένοντας στο παρκέ για 18:44 λεπτά ανά αγώνα στην πρώτη του σεζόν στην Ευρώπη. Κόντρα στη Βιλερμπάν, πραγματοποίησε την καλυτερη εμφάνισή του στη διοργάνωση, κάνοντας double-double με 24 πόντους και 10 ριμπάουντ.

Πλέον, ο Παναθηναϊκός θα ολοκληρώσει τη σεζόν 2025/26 με τους Ματίας Λεσόρ και Κένεθ Φαρίντ ως καθαρούς σέντερ.
