Haddad Maia - Sakkari 2-0: Nothing went right for the Greek and she was eliminated
Maria Sakkari suffered a 6-4, 6-4 defeat by Beatriz Haddad Maia in the round of 16 of the Madrid Open, withdrawing from the Spanish tournament.
The many unforced errors and several ups and downs during the game cost Maria Sakkari, who lost to Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-4, 6-4, knowing the elimination from the tournament in Madrid.
Double break and effortless mistakes cost Sakkari
Although she started the game in a convincing way, Maria Sakkari received the break very early from Hadad Maia and found herself chasing a difference of two games (3-1). The Brazilian athlete was very close to the second break, however, the Greek had a hard time holding her serve for 3-2.
What she didn't manage in the 5th game, Haddad Maia managed two games later, making a second break for 5-2. The Brazilian served to close the set, but Sakkari with an amazing reaction managed to get the break back and then find herself a game away from the Brazilian (5-4).
Haddad Maia found herself with the balls in her hands for the second time to close the set, facing two break points from Sakkari. The Brazilian, however, correctly stood behind her serve and after a lost set point took the lead in the match 6-4.

Second set like... déjà vu
The second leg of the game like the first for Maria Sakkari. The Greek took the lead, but again saw Haddad Maia take the lead at the change of sides (2-1). The Brazilian made the hold for 3-1, maintaining her lead.
In the 7th game, Maria Sakkari's opponent made the second break in the set and served to end the match and get the qualification (5-2). The Greek, as in the first set, took back the Brazilian's break and reduced to within a breath (5-4). The set was decided in the 10th game, where Haddad Maia was very good behind the serve making it 6-4.
In the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open, Haddad Maia will face the winner of the match Sviontek - Soribes Tormo.

Τα πολλά αβίαστα λάθη και αρκετά σκαμπανεβάσματα στη διάρκεια του παιχνιδιού κόστισαν στην Μαρία Σάκκαρη, η οποία γνώρισε την ήττα από την Μπεατρίζ Χαντάντ Μάια με 6-4, 6-4, γνωρίζοντας τον αποκλεισμό από το τουρνουά της Μαδρίτης.

Αν και ξεκίνησε με πειστικό τρόπο το παιχνίδι, η Μαρία Σάκκαρη δέχθηκε πολύ νωρίς το break από την Χαντάντ Μάια και βρέθηκε να κυνηγάει διαφορά δύο games (3-1). Η Βραζιλιάνα αθλήτρια βρέθηκε πολύ κοντά στο δεύτερο break, ωστόσο η Ελληνίδα διατήρησε δύσκολα το σερβίς για το 3-2.
Ό,τι δεν κατάφερε στο 5ο game τον κατάφερε δύο games αργότερα η Χαντάντ Μάια, κάνοντας δεύτερο break για το 5-2. Η Βραζιλιάνα σέρβιρε για να κλείσει το σετ, όμως η Σάκκαρη με εκπληκτική αντίδραση κατάφερε να πάρει το ένα break πίσω και στη συνέχεια να βρεθεί ένα game μακριά από την Βραζιλιάνα (5-4).
Η Χαντάντ Μάια βρέθηκε για δεύτερη φορά με τις μπάλες στα χέρια για να κλείσει το σετ, αντιμετωπίζοντας δύο break points της Σάκκαρη. Η Βραζιλιάνα, όμως στάθηκε σωστά πίσω από το σερβίς της και μετά από ένα χαμένο set point πήρε το προβάδισμα στην αναμέτρηση με 6-4.

Δεύτερο σετ σαν... déjà vu
Το δεύτερο σκέλος του παιχνιδιού όπως το πρώτο για την Μαρία Σάκκαρη. Η Ελληνίδα πήρε το προβάδισμα, ωστόσο ξανά είδε την Χαντάντ Μάια να πηγαίνει με το προβάδισμα στην αλλαγή πλευράς (2-1). Η Βραζιλιάνα έκανε το hold για το 3-1, διατηρώντας το προβάδισμα της.
Στο 7ο game η αντίπαλος της Μαρίας Σάκκαρη πραγματοποίησε το δεύτερο break στο σετ και σέρβιρε για να λήξει το ματς και να πάρει την πρόκριση (5-2). Η Ελληνίδα, όπως στο πρώτο σετ, πήρε πίσω το break της Βραζιλιάνας και μείωσε σε απόσταση αναπνοής (5-4). Το σετ κρίθηκε στο 10ο game, όπου η Χαντάντ Μάια ήταν πολύ καλή πίσω από το σερβίς κάνοντας το 6-4.
Στα προημιτελικά του Madrid Open η Χαντάντ Μάια θ' αντιμετωπίσει τη νικήτρια από το ματς Σβιόντεκ - Σορίμπες Τόρμο.
