Αν και η ηλικία του είναι αρκετά… προχωρημένη, ο σπουδαίος ψηλός δεν φαίνεται να σκέφτεται ακόμη την απόσυρση από την ενεργό δράση, δηλώνοντας μετά το φιλικό με την Αυστραλία πως: «Ακόμη δεν γνωρίζω εάν θα αποσυρθώ μετά το τουρνουά».
Φέτος, ο Σκόλα αγωνίστηκε στην Ιταλία με τη φανέλα της Βαρέζε. Εκεί, έκανε «γεμάτη» χρονιά με 28 αγώνες, έχοντας κατά μέσο όρο 17,8 πόντους, 6,7 ριμπάουντ και 1,1 ασίστ.
