Η ομάδα του Γιάννη Σφαιρόπουλου όχι μόνο ηττήθηκε από τους Βάσκους, αλλά κατέστρεψε σε ένα βράδυ πολλές από τις καλές εντυπώσεις που έχει δημιουργήσει τη φετινή σεζόν, καθώς εμφανίστηκε στο παρκέ της «Φερνάντο Μπουέσα Αρίνα» μόλις για ένα δεκάλεπτο και υπέστη ένα απίστευτο διασυρμό.

Με καλάθι και φάουλ του Γάλλου σέντερ η Μπασκόνια μείωσε σε 7-10, ωστόσο μετά ανέλαβε δράση ο αρχηγός, καθώς με δύο τρίποντα η διαφορά ανέβηκε και πάλι στο +7 (10-17) για τον Ολυμπιακό, ενώ με καλάθι και φάουλ του Μάντζαρη διαμορφώθηκε το 12-20. Τελικά, με ένα 4-1 της Μπασκόνια στο τελευταίο λεπτό της περιόδου με τους Σενγκέλια και Βόιγκτμαν, το σκορ έκλεισε στο 16-21 υπέρ των «ερυθρολεύκων» που κράτησαν στο μηδέν τους γηπεδούχους στο τρίποντο, τη στιγμή που οι ίδιοι είχαν 4/9.
