Σχεδόν 9'' πριν από την λήξη και αφού είχαν τρία ομαδικά φάουλ, έκαναν ένα φάουλ για να σταματήσουν τον ρυθμό, το οποίο χρεώθηκε σκανδαλωδώς ως αντιαθλητικό!

Φυσικά, οι παίκτριες και το σταφ της εθνικής Ιταλίας δεν πίστευαν με τίποτα την απόφαση των διαιτητών και διαμαρτυρήθηκαν έντονα. Η Στρέινμπεργκα πήγε στις βολές, έβαλε 2/2 και έτσι η Λετονία πήρε τελικά τη νίκη (68-67).
