Το πρωί ο Έλληνας αμυντικός έπρεπε να πάει σε ιατρικό κέντρο (Villa Stuart clinic) για να περάσει έναν πρώτο κύκλο ιατρικών εξετάσεων για την ομάδα της Αγίας Πετρούπολης, αλλά δεν πήγε!
Ο λόγος ήταν οικονομικός, καθώς απαιτεί να πληρωθεί σε ευρώ και όχι σε ρούβλια (4.000.000 ευρώ τον χρόνο). Το απόγευμα το ραντεβού μεταξύ των δύο πλευρών δεν κύλησε ομαλά, δεν υπήρξε συμφωνία και μάλιστα η ίδια η Ζενίτ πάγωσε τις διαπραγματεύσεις (είχε συμφωνία με τη Ρόμα στα 30.000.000 ευρώ + 5.000.000 ευρώ bonus).
Όπως αναφέρουν χαρακτηριστικά οι Ιταλοί, ο ρωσικός σύλλογος και ο προπονητής, Ρομπέρτο Μαντσίνι, είναι απογοητευμένοι από την συμπεριφορά του Μανωλά.
Δεν αποκλείεται εντός 24 ωρών να γίνει νέα προσέγγιση, αλλά το μόνο σίγουρο είναι ο Έλληνας άσος πρέπει να πάρει αυτά που θέλει για να πάει στη Ρωσία, σε ένα πρωτάθλημα που δεν είναι απ'τα καλύτερα στην Ευρώπη.
