Sabalenka wants revenge against Rybakina

Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina will duel tonight for the title in Indian Wells, in a rematch of this year's Australian Open final.

This is, in fact, the only match the 27-year-old Belarusian has lost this season (16/17) and the only match in which she has dropped a set (33/35)!

However, she faced a player who is undoubtedly the most in form in recent months. And we are not just talking about this season, as Rybakina had a great finale in 2025 and entered the WTA Finals at the last minute, where she also took the title with victories over Swiatek (round robin) and Sabalenka (final)!

The triumph at the Australian Open followed and tomorrow (16/3), thanks to her great run in California, she will rise to No. 2 in the world, marking a career high. It is worth noting that she is also running a 12-game winning streak against Top 10 players!

In essence, the two top tennis players in the world will duel and the only thing certain is that there is no favorite! The two of them, however, had also met in the 2023 final, with Rybakina winning. Sabalenka had also claimed the title at the BNP Paribas Open last year, but Mira Andreeva had blocked her path.

In the head to head, Arina leads 8-7, however, the 26-year-old Kazakh has won four of their five meetings in finals!

The match will start at 20.00 and will be broadcast by Novasports 6.

Aρίνα Σαμπαλένκα και Έλενα Ριμπάκινα μονομαχούν απόψε για τον τίτλο στο Indian Wells, στο rematch του τελικού του φετινού Australian Open.

Αυτός, μάλιστα, είναι ο μοναδικός αγώνας που έχει χάσει τη φετινή σεζόν η 27χρονη Λευκορωσίδα (16/17) και ο μοναδικός αγώνας στον οποίο έχει χάσει σετ (33/35)!

Είχε, όμως, απέναντί της μια παίκτρια που είναι αναμφισβήτητα η πιο φορμαρισμένη των τελευταίων μηνών. Και δεν μιλάμε μόνο για τη φετινή σεζόν, καθώς η Ριμπάκινα έκανε φοβερό φινάλε στο 2025 και μπήκε την τελευταία στιγμή στο WTA Finals, όπου πήρε και τον τίτλο με νίκες απέναντι σε Σβιόντεκ (round robin) και Σαμπαλένκα (τελικός)!

Ακολούθησε ο θρίαμβος στο Australian Open και αύριο (16/3), χάρη στη μεγάλη πορεία της στην Καλιφόρνα, θα ανεβεί στο Νο.2 του κόσμου, σημειώνοντας career high. Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι τρέχει και ένα σερί 12 νικών κόντρα σε παίκτριες του Top 10!

Στην ουσία, λοιπόν, θα μονομαχήσουν οι δύο κορυφαίες τενίστριες στον κόσμο και το μόνο βέβαιο είναι ότι δεν υπάρχει φαβορί! Oι δυο τους, πάντως, είχαν αναμετρηθεί και στον τελικό του 2023, με νικήτρια τη Ριμπάκινα. Η Σαμπαλένκα είχε διεκδικήσει και πέρυσι τον τίτλο στο BNP Paribas Open, όμως της είχε κόψει τον δρόμο η Μίρα Αντρέεβα.

Στο head to head η Αρίνα προηγείται με 8-7, ωστόσο η 26χρονη Καζάκα έχει κερδίσει τέσσερις από τις πέντε συναντήσεις τους  σε τελικούς!

Ο αγώνας θα αρχίσει στις 20.00 και θα μεταδοθεί από το Novasports 6.
