What happened and a year that was heading full speed towards the "rocks" turned into a possible triumph?

According to the Spanish newspaper AS, the management had decided that the situation needed a strong shock. The departure of Javi Alonso and his coaching staff after the Super Cup, as well as the arrival of Arbeloa, brought the missing element.

However, a meeting in the locker room, without Bellingham and Mbappe, was the decisive action to turn the whole season around. The players spoke openly with each other, admitted their mistakes and realized that they had to change their faces and make important decisions before it was too late. Combined with the renewal of the roster by Arbeloa, the players began to run more, press consistently and function as a well-tuned machine.

The two matches against City were typical, with the first match "testifying" that Real Madrid covered over 300 meters more than City, while at the Etihad, the Madrid team ran 114.5 km compared to 109.9 for the English team.

Now the Merengues are within all the goals and show that they are getting more and more in shape, with Arbeloa gaining points and confidence, while a few weeks ago everyone had "written him off"

Στις 2 Μαρτίου, η γκέλα απέναντι στη Χετάφε είχε «βυθίσει» το κλίμα στη Μαδρίτη σε εσωστρέφεια, με τραυματισμούς, αποβολές και κακή αγωνιστική εικόνα να δημιουργούν προβληματισμό. Πριν τον επαναληπτικό με την Σίτι όμως, άπαντες ήταν βέβαιοι για την πρόκριση στην επόμενη φάση της διοργάνωσης του Champions League και το κλίμα είχε αλλάξει άρδην.

Τι συνέβη και μια χρονιά που πήγαινε ολοταχώς προς τα "βράχια" μετετράπη σε πιθανό θρίαμβο; 

Σύμφωνα με την ισπανική «AS», η διοίκηση είχε πάρει τις αποφάσεις της πως η κατάσταση χρειαζόταν ένα ισχυρό σοκ. Η απομάκρυνση του Χάβι Αλόνσο και του τεχνικού του επιτελείου μετά το Σούπερ Καπ, καθώς και ο ερχομός του Αρμπελόα, έφεραν το στοιχείο που έλειπε. 

Μια συνάντηση στα αποδυτήρια όμως, δίχως Μπέλιγχαμ και Εμπαπέ, ήταν η αποφασιστική ενέργεια για να γυρίσει όλη η σεζόν. Οι παίκτες μίλησαν ανοιχτά μεταξύ τους, παραδέχθηκαν τα λάθη και συνειδητοποίησαν πως έπρεπε να αλλάξουν πρόσωπο και να πάρουν σημαντικές αποφάσεις, πριν να είναι αργά. Σε συνδυασμό με την ανανέωση του ρόστερ από τον Αρμπελόα, οι ποδοσφαιριστές άρχισαν να τρέχουν περισσότερο, να πιέζουν με συνέπεια και να λειτουργούν ως μια καλοκουρδισμένη μηχανή. 

Χαρακτηριστικές οι δύο αναμετρήσεις απέναντι στη Σίτι, με το πρώτο ματς να "μαρτυρά" πως η Ρεάλ κάλυψε πάνω από 300 μέτρα περισσότερα από τη Σίτι, ενώ στο Etihad, οι Μαδριλένοι έτρεξαν 114,5 χλμ. έναντι 109,9 της ομάδας των Άγγλων.

Πλέον οι Μερένχες είναι μέσα σε όλους τους στόχους και δείχνουν πως φορμάρονται ολοένα και περισσότερο, με τον Αρμπελόα να κερδίζει πόντους και εμπιστοσύνη, ενώ πριν από λίγες εβδομάδες άπαντες τον είχαν "ξεγραμμένο"
