Olympiacos celebrated its 22nd victory in the EuroLeague of the 2025/26 season on Thursday night (19/3), defeating Baskonia 90-80 at the Peace and Friendship Stadium.

Piraeus (14-3 home and 8-8 away) took another step towards the goal of the four that offers home advantage and a possible Game 5 at home, with Sasha Vezenkov scoring in a flurry, with Nikola Milutinov imperial and with Tyler Dorsey following. Tyreek Jones was excellent and economical, with 15 points in 17 minutes from 6/6 two-pointers and 3/5 shots.

The statistics that stood out

Milutinov closed the first quarter with 10 points (4/5 two-pointers, 2/2 shots), everything was in Baskonia's favor at halftime. And the points from surprise (2-7) and the points from the opponent's mistakes (4-11) and the points from second chances (2-9). At the end of the evening, the Piraeus team had won the match with 4/22 three-pointers, but also with 26 assists for 12 mistakes. And with an excellent 71% in the two-point range, two days after the 81% against Fenerbahce.

The match

With Walkup, Dorsey, Ward, Vezenkov, Milutinov, Olympiacos opened the match, which saw the Basques lead by six (4-10) after just two minutes. The Basques were not nervous and that's why they were dangerous, the home team made some "cheap" mistakes and were forced to chase constantly, with the 19-24 score in the first period pushing. Jones made two quick fouls, the rotation was a bit broken, but Milutinov had 10 points.

The Piraeus team had a strange, unjustified irritation, as a result of which they continued to chase their opponents. Bartzokas searched deep in his bench, with Papanikolaou, Vezenkov, Milutinov giving the lead (32-31 at 16′) and the tall Serb scoring a foul goal for 35-33. And again, not much changed. Baskonia played partnership basketball and the 41-40 halftime score left open accounts.

Vezenkov - Milutinov continued to score in quick succession at the start of the second half, Dorsey made a three-pointer for 50-44 in the 23rd minute and Walkup organized perfectly. Baskonia did not let the match slip away and with the very strong Omoruyi stayed close, however Vezenkov ended the phases, Dorsey made a three-pointer for 69-62 at the end of the third period and the red and whites began to pull away.

A great partnership between Peters - Jones at the beginning of the fourth increased the difference to 10 (72-62 in the 31st minute), but Olympiacos continued to play with fire. Baskonia reduced the lead to four (82-78 at 37′), followed by a two-pointer by Fournier after a timeout and a shot by Jones for 85-78 that could not be overturned. And it was not overturned.

Αυτή τη φορά ο Ολυμπιακός δεν έλαμψε, έκανε όμως τη δουλειά απέναντι στη Μπασκόνια (90-80) και ετοιμάζεται να κλειδώσει την τετράδα στην έδρα της Βαλένθια που τον είχε νικήσει στο ΣΕΦ.

Την 22η νίκη του στη EuroLeague της σεζόν 2025/26 πανηγύρισε το βράδυ της Πέμπτης (19/3) ο Ολυμπιακός, που επικράτησε με 90-80 της Μπασκόνια στο Στάδιο Ειρήνης και Φιλίας.

Οι Πειραιώτες (14-3 εντός και 8-8 εκτός έδρας) έκαναν ακόμη ένα βήμα προς τον στόχο της τετράδας που προσφέρει το πλεονέκτημα έδρας και το πιθανό Game 5 στο σπίτι τους, με τον Σάσα Βεζένκοβ να σκοράρει κατά ριπάς, με τον Νίκολα Μιλουτίνοβ αυτοκρατορικό και με τον Τάιλερ Ντόρσεϊ να ακολουθεί. Εξαιρετικός και οικονομικός ο Ταϊρίκ Τζόουνς, με 15 πόντους σε 17 λεπτά από 6/6 δίποντα και 3/5 βολές.

Στο 9-23 έπεσαν οι Βάσκοι (8-7 εντός και 1-16 εκτός έδρας), που έκαναν την προσπάθειά τους, πίστεψαν στην υπέρβαση, αλλά δεν είχαν βάθος για να την διεκδίκήσουν μέχρι το τέλος. Δεν είχαν τους Χάουαρντ, Κούρουτς, Σεντεκέρσκις, Ντιοπ και γνώρισαν μια απόλυτα λογική ήττα. Ομορούγι και Ντιακίτε ήταν οι δύο που ξεχώρισαν, με τον Πάολο Γκαλμπιάτι να βλέπει 21 ασίστ για 11 λάθη.

Με αυτό το αποτέλεσμα ο Ολυμπιακός ολοκλήρωσε τον κύκλο των επτά αγώνων σε 14 ημέρες με ρεκόρ 6-1 και με μοναδικό αρνητικό αποτέλεσμα αυτό με την Μονακό στο Μόντε Κάρλο. Στη διαβολοβδομάδα που ακολουθεί θα παίξει στη Βαλένθια, καθώς το εκτός έδρας ματς με την Παρί το έχει ήδη δώσει.

Το μοιράζονται ο Σάσα Βεζένκοβ (20 πόντοι, 9/11 δίποντα, 0/5 τρίποντα, 2/3 βολές, 6 ριμπάουντ, 2 ασίστ, 4 κερδισμένα φάουλ σε 27 λεπτά) κι ο Νίκολα Μιλουτίνοβ (17 πόντοι, 7/10 δίποντα, 3/3 βολές, 6 ριμπάουντ, 2 ασίστ, 3 κερδισμένα φάουλ επίσης σε 23 λεπτά). 24 μονάδες στο σύστημα αξιολόγησης ο πρώτος, 24 μονάδες στο σύστημα αξιολόγησης ο δεύτερος.

Τα στατιστικά που ξεχώρισαν

Με 10 πόντους έκλεισε το πρώτο δεκάλεπτο ο Μιλουτίνοβ (4/5 δίποντα, 2/2 βολές), όλα υπέρ της Μπασκόνια ήταν στο ημίχρονο. Και οι πόντοι στον αιφνιδιασμό (2-7) και οι πόντοι από τα λάθη του αντιπάλου (4-11) και οι πόντοι από δεύτερες ευκαιρίες (2-9). Στο τέλος της βραδιάς οι Πειραιώτες είχαν πάρει το ματς με 4/22 τρίποντα, αλλά και με 26 ασίστ για 12 λάθη. Και με ένα εξαιρετικό 71% στο δίποντο, δύο ημέρες μετά από το 81% απέναντι στη Φενέρμπαχτσε.

Ο αγώνας

Με Γουόκαπ, Ντόρσεϊ, Γουορντ, Βεζένκοβ, Μιλουτίνοβ άνοιξε το ματς ο Ολυμπιακός, που είδε τους Βάσκους να προηγούνται με έξι (4-10) μετά από μόλις δύο λεπτά. Οι Βάσκοι δεν είχαν άγχος και γι’ αυτό ήταν επικίνδυνοι, οι γηπεδούχοι έκαναν κάποια “φθηνά” λάθη και αναγκάστηκαν να κυνηγούν συνεχώς, με το 19-24 της πρώτης περιόδου να πιέζει. Ο Τζόουνς έκανε δύο γρήγορα φάουλ, το ροτέισον κάπως χάλασε, όμως ο Μιλουτίνοβ είχε 10 πόντους.

Οι Πειραιώτες είχαν έναν περίεργο, αδικαιολόγητο εκνευρισμό, με αποτέλεσμα να συνεχίσουν να κυνηγούν τους αντιπάλους τους. Ο Μπαρτζώκας έψαχνε βαθιά στον πάγκο του, με Παπανικολάου, Βεζένκοβ, Μιλουτίνοβ να δίνουν το προβάδισμα (32-31 στο 16′) και τον Σέρβο ψηλό να βάζει γκολ-φάουλ για το 35-33. Και πάλι όμως, δεν άλλαξαν πολλά. Η Μπασκόνια έπαιζε μπάσκετ συνεργασιών και το 41-40 του ημιχρόνου άφηνε ανοιχτούς λογαριασμούς.

Βεζένκοβ – Μιλουτίνοβ συνέχισαν να σκοράρουν κατά ριπάς στο ξεκίνημα του β’ μέρους, ο Ντόρσεϊ έβαλε τρίποντο για το 50-44 στο 23′ κι ο Γουόκαπ οργάνωνε άψογα. Η Μπασκόνια δεν άφηνε το ματς να ξεφύγει και με τον πολύ δυνατό Ομορούγι έμενε κοντά, ωστόσο ο Βεζένκοβ τελείωσε τις φάσεις, ο Ντόρσεϊ έβαλε τρίποντο για το 69-62 στο τέλος της τρίτης περιόδου και οι ερυθρόλευκοι άρχισαν να απομακρύνονται.

Μια σπουδαία συνεργασία Πίτερς – Τζόουνς στις αρχές της τέταρτης ανέβασε τη διαφορά στους 10 (72-62 στο 31′), όμως ο Ολυμπιακός συνέχισε να παίζει με τη φωτιά. Η Μπασκόνια μείωσε στους τέσσερις (82-78 στο 37′), για να ακολουθήσει δίποντο του Φουρνιέ μετά από timeout και βολή του Τζόουνς για το 85-78 που δεν μπορούσε να ανατραπεί. Και δεν ανατράπηκε.
