The Orestiada team announced Karambali

Leiner Apontsa Karabali will compete in the Orestiada League this season, as announced on Monday by the critical team.

Leiner Apontsa Karambali will continue his career in Orestiada's Athlos. The Akrites have announced the signing of the 22-year-old Colombian winger for this season to strengthen their attack.

Last season, Karabali was competing in the Indonesian league with the Pertamax shirt.

In detail, the announcement:

"The administration of TAA Athos Orestiada is pleased to announce the start of cooperation with the international athlete of Colombia, Leiner Aponza Carabali, in view of the Volleyleague season 2023-2024. The new acquisition of our team is expected this evening in Orestiada to be officially placed under the instructions of the Romanian coach, Cristian Citigoi, and to strengthen our club in its quest for distinction this year.

It should be noted that Karabali will have the right to participate from December 15, 2023, specifically from the eighth matchday when, however, Athlos has a day off.

Liner Aponza Carambali was born on August 27, 2001 in Bogotá, he is 2.00m tall and plays as a winger. Despite his young age, in addition to the Colombian championship, where he was crowned champion in 2021 with Vallecaucana, he has already competed in three more foreign championships (Bahrain, Finland, Indonesia). This season will be his 'maiden' presence in the Greek stadiums. He also has a twin brother, international center Daniel Aponza, who last year played for Slovenian side Calcit Kamnik.

The newly acquired international ace of the Orestiada team is the captain of the U23 team of Colombia, with which he took fourth place in the 2021 Pan American Games, while he himself emerged as the tournament's top scorer. In 2022 in the organization of the 12th South American Games Men won the silver medal, while in the 2023 South American Men's Championship he took the bronze medal in the organization of Brazil.

In addition to his offensive gifts, the left-handed winger stands out for his strength and leap, as he nails at 3.70m and blocks at 3.50.

In his first official statements as an Athlos athlete, Leiner Aponza stated the following on the athlosorestiadas.gr website: "I am coming to Orestiada to help my new team achieve all the high goals it has set for this year. I am grateful to the club and the administration for the opportunity it gives me to compete in the strong and competitive Greek league. Στον Άθλο Ορεστιάδας θα αγωνιστεί τη φετινή σεζόν ο Λέινερ Απόντσα Καραμπαλί, όπως ανακοίνωσε τη Δευτέρα η ακριτική ομάδα.

Στον Άθλο Ορεστιάδας θα συνεχίσει την καριέρα του ο Λέινερ Απόντσα Καραμπαλί. Οι ακρίτες ανακοίνωσαν την απόκτηση του 22χρονου Κολομβιανού ακραίου για τη φετινή σεζόν, ώστε να ενισχυθεί στην επίθεση.

Ο Καραμπαλί την περυσινή σεζόν αγωνιζόταν στο πρωτάθλημα της Ινδονησίας με τη φανέλα της Περταμάξ.

«Η διοίκηση του ΤΑΑ Άθλος Ορεστιάδας είναι στην ευχάριστη θέση να ανακοινώσει την έναρξη συνεργασίας με τον διεθνή αθλητή της Κολομβίας, Λέινερ Απόντσα Καραμπαλί (Leiner Aponza Carabali), ενόψει της σεζόν Volleyleague 2023-2024. Το νέο απόκτημα της ομάδας μας αναμένεται απόψε το βράδυ στην Ορεστιάδα για να τεθεί και επίσημα υπό τις οδηγίες του Ρουμάνου προπονητή, Κριστιάν Σιτιγκόι, και να ενισχύσει τον σύλλογό μας στη φετινή του προσπάθεια διάκρισης.

Να σημειωθεί πως ο Καραμπαλί θα έχει δικαίωμα συμμετοχής από 15 Δεκεμβρίου 2023 και συγκεκριμένα από την όγδοη αγωνιστική που, όμως, ο Άθλος έχει ρεπό.

O Λέινερ Απόνζα Καραμπαλί γεννήθηκε στις 27 Αυγούστου 2001 στην Μπογκοτά, έχει ύψος 2.00μ κι αγωνίζεται ως ακραίος. Παρά το νεαρό της ηλικίας του, πέρα από το πρωτάθλημα Κολομβίας, όπου στέφθηκε πρωταθλητής το 2021 με τη Vallecaucana, έχει αγωνιστεί ήδη σε τρία ακόμη ξένα πρωταθλήματα (Μπαχρέιν, Φινλανδία, Ινδονησία). Η φετινή σεζόν θα είναι η ‘παρθενική’ του παρουσία στα ελληνικά γήπεδα. Έχει ακόμη έναν δίδυμο αδελφό, τον διεθνή κεντρικό Daniel Aponza, που πέρυσι αγωνίστηκε στην σλοβενική Calcit Kamnik.

Ο διεθνής νεοαποκτηθείς άσος του Άθλου Ορεστιάδας είναι αρχηγός της U23 της Κολομβίας, με την οποία στους Παναμερικανικούς Αγώνες 2021 κατέλαβε την τέταρτη θέση, ενώ ο ίδιος αναδείχθηκε κορυφαίος σκόρερ της διοργάνωσης. To 2022 στη διοργάνωση των 12ων Αγώνων Νότιας Αμερικής Ανδρών κατέκτησε το ασημένιο μετάλλιο, ενώ στο Πρωτάθλημα Νότιας Αμερικής Ανδρών 2023 κατέλαβε το χάλκινο μετάλλιο στη διοργάνωση της Βραζιλίας.

Πέρα από τα επιθετικά του χαρίσματα, ο αριστερόχειρας ακραίος ξεχωρίζει για τη δύναμη και το άλμα του, καθώς καρφώνει στα 3.70μ και μπλοκάρει στα 3.50.

Στις πρώτες του επίσημες δηλώσεις ως αθλητής του Άθλου ο Λέινερ Απόνζα δήλωσε στην ιστοσελίδα athlosorestiadas.gr τα εξής: “Έρχομαι στην Ορεστιάδα για να βοηθήσω τη νέα μου ομάδα να πετύχει όλους τους υψηλούς στόχους που έχει θέσει για φέτος. Είμαι ευγνώμων στον σύλλογο και στη διοίκηση για την ευκαιρία που μου δίνει να αγωνιστώ στο δυνατό και ανταγωνιστικό ελληνικό πρωτάθλημα.
