The Thessalian team withstood the pressure of the "talkative" OFI and left Heraklion with a draw (0-0) in the game that opened the curtain on the 16th matchday in the Super League.

OFI was coming off a draw (1-1) against Panathinaikos at Leoforos, while Volos was coming off a heavy home defeat (4-0) against AEK shortly before the sunset of 2022.

The home team came into the game stronger, took the initiative and missed the first good chance in the 8th minute.

After some good movement of the ball, Diko found himself in a position to shoot inside the area, but his attempted shot went wide.

The Thessalian team tried to balance the game but had difficulty keeping the ball in their possession and were harmless offensively.

OFI missed two great scoring opportunities just before the end of the first half. In the 45th, Diko found himself in front of Kleiman in a sideways position in the area, but he was unable to beat the goalkeeper of Volos, who made a save.

"Cap" in the next phase, Alho pushed Toral's header over the line and kept the visitors' goal intact, who had a difficult time in the last minutes of the first half.

VAR canceled OFI's goal

The Heraklion team entered the match strongly in the second half as well and found the way to the net in the 59th minute.

Neira laid the ball to Diko who shot the ball against and ended up to Larsson who alone at the second post found the target from close range.

However, the goal did not count, since VAR showed that Neira was exposed at the start of the phase.

The match flowed at the same tempo with OFI having the territorial superiority, "besieging" the defense of Volos and looking for the coveted goal, but not with the same intensity and at the same pace as it did before the goal phase which was marked and overruled by VAR.

Dabrauskas threw Guerrero and Perea into the match in the final quarter of the match, looking for a way to take the game.

Volos made its presence felt for the first time in the opposition's frame in the 78th minute, when after a cross from Alhos, Koutsias sent the ball just outside the left vertical post with a nailed header.

Kleiman's life-saving operation

A great opportunity for OFI to break the Gordian knot in the 89th minute, when after a foul by Larsson and a header by Perea, Kleiman instinctively drove away and kept the scoreless.

In the end, the match was "locked" at 0-0 with OFI throwing away two more valuable points at home and Volos leaving the visit to "Jedi Koule" on their feet, even though it moved at low...speeds.

Referee Evangelos (Athens) showed a yellow card to Escoval, Pasalidis, Pirinen, Meyados and Vouros.

Η θεσσαλική ομάδα άντεξε στην πίεση του («φλύαρου») ΟΦΗ κι έφυγε με το βαθμό της ισοπαλίας (0-0) από το Ηράκλειο στο παιχνίδι που άνοιξε την αυλαία της 16ης αγωνιστικής στη Super League.

Ο ΟΦΗ προερχόταν από την ισοπαλία (1-1) κόντρα στον Παναθηναϊκό στη Λεωφόρο, ενώ ο Βόλος από τη βαριά εντός έδρας ήττα (4-0) από την ΑΕΚ λίγο πριν από τη δύση του 2022.

Οι γηπεδούχοι μπήκαν πιο δυνατά στο παιχνίδι, απέκτησαν την πρωτοβουλία των κινήσεων κι έχασαν την πρώτη καλή ευκαιρία στο 8΄.

Έπειτα από ωραία κυκλοφορία της μπάλας, ο Ντίκο βρέθηκε σε θέση βολής μέσα στην περιοχή, ωστόσο το σουτ που επιχείρησε έστειλε την μπάλα άουτ.

Η θεσσαλική ομάδα προσπάθησε να ισορροπήσει το παιχνίδι ωστόσο δυσκολευόταν να κρατήσει την μπάλα στην κατοχή της και ήταν ακίνδυνη επιθετικά.

Ο ΟΦΗ έχασε δύο σπουδαίες ευκαιρίες για γκολ λίγο πριν από τη λήξη του α΄ημιχρόνου. Στο 45΄ο Ντίκο βρέθηκε μπροστά από τον Κλέιμαν σε πλάγια θέση μέσα στην περιοχή χωρίς όμως να καταφέρει να κερδίσει στο τετ α τετ τον πορτιέρο του Βόλου ο οποίος απομάκρυνε σωτήρια.

«Καπάκι» στην επόμενη φάση, ο Άλχο έδιωξε πάνω στη γραμμή κεφαλιά του Τοράλ και κράτησε ανέπαφη την εστία των φιλοξενούμενων που πέρασαν δύσκολες στιγμές στα τελευταία λεπτά του α΄μέρους.   

Το VAR ακύρωσε γκολ του ΟΦΗ

Δυνατά μπήκε στο ματς η ομάδα του Ηρακλείου και στο β΄ημίχρονο και βρήκε το δρόμο προς τα δίχτυα στο 59΄.

Ο Νέιρα έστρωσε την μπάλα στον Ντίκο που σούταρε η μπάλα κόντραρε και κατέληξε στον Λάρσον που μόνος του στο δεύτερο δοκάρι βρήκε στόχο από κοντά.

Ωστόσο το γκολ δεν μέτρησε, αφού στο VAR φάνηκε πως ο Νέιρα ήταν εκτεθειμένος στο ξεκίνημα της φάσης.

Το ματς κυλούσε στο ίδιο τέμπο με τον ΟΦΗ να έχει την εδαφική υπεροχή, να «πολιορκεί» την άμυνα του Βόλου και να αναζητά το πολυπόθητο γκολ, όχι όμως με την ίδια ένταση και με τον ίδιο ρυθμό που το έκανε πριν από τη φάση του γκολ που σημείωσε και ακυρώθηκε από το VAR.  

Ο Νταμπράουσκας έριξε στο ματς τους Γκερέρο και Περέα στο τελευταίο τέταρτο του αγώνα, αναζητώντας τον τρόπο για να πάρει το παιχνίδι.

O Βόλος έκανε για πρώτη φορά αισθητή την παρουσία του στα αντίπαλα καρέ στο 78΄, όταν μετά από σέντρα του Άλχο ο Κούτσιας με καρφωτή κεφαλιά έστειλε την μπάλα λίγο έξω από το αριστερό κάθετο δοκάρι.

Σωτήρια επέμβαση ο Κλέιμαν

Σπουδαία ευκαιρία για τον ΟΦΗ να λύσει το γόρδιο δεσμό στο 89΄, όταν μετά από φάουλ του Λάρσον και κεφαλιά του Περέα ο Κλέιμαν έδιωξε ενστικτωδώς και κράτησε το μηδέν.

Εν τέλει το ματς "κλείδωσε" στο 0-0 με τον ΟΦΗ να πετάει δύο ακόμα πολύτιμους βαθμούς μέσα στην έδρα του και το Βόλο να φεύγει όρθιος από την επίσκεψη στο "Γεντί Κουλέ" παρότι κινήθηκε σε χαμηλές...στροφές. 

O διαιτητής Ευαγγέλου (Αθήνας) έδειξε κίτρινη κάρτα στους Εσκοβάλ, Πασαλίδη, Πίρινεν, Μεγιάδο και Βούρο.
