So, if Panionios takes "1" and... drops Olympiakos and Panathinaikos to "2" and "3" respectively, everything indicates that the "eternal" will not play in the final of the competition, but in the semi-final.

Ο νικητής του UNICEF Trophy μπορεί να προκαλέσει ντέρμπι αιωνίων πριν τον τελικό του Κυπέλλου.

Με τον Γιάννη Σαχπατζίδη να σημειώνει double-double (20 πόντοι, 15 ριμπάουντ), ο Πανιώνιος της Β’ Εθνικής έριξε στο καναβάτσο και τη ΦΕΑ (80-71), που αγωνίζεται στην Elite League. Κάπως έτσι, οι Νεοσμυρνιώτες, κατέκτησαν το νεοσύστατο UNICEF Trophy, εξασφαλίζοντας μια θέση στο Final Eight του Κυπέλλου Ελλάδας, το οποίο θα διεξαχθεί στην Κρήτη.

Πέραν του Πανιωνίου, στο Final 8 θα συμμετάσχουν οι ομάδες που θα βρίσκονται στις 7 πρώτες θέσεις της Basket League στο τέλος του πρώτου γύρου του πρωταθλήματος. Μετά και τον θρίαμβο των «κυανέρυθρων» στο UNICEF Trophy, ενδέχεται να προκληθεί καραμπόλα και ντέρμπι αιωνίων πριν τον τελικό του Κυπέλλου. Πως θα γίνει αυτό;

Ενώ οι σύλλογοι της Basket League θα ριχτούν στη μάχη του Final 8 με την κατάταξη που είχαν στον πρώτο γύρο του πρωταθλήματος, ο Πανιώνιος δεν θα τεθεί αυτομάτως όγδοος. Θα γίνει κλήρωση για να πάρει… αριθμό και ανάλογα με το ποιον θα πάρει, θα προκαλέσει και ανακατατάξεις στη σειρά.

Αν, για παράδειγμα, πάρει τον αριθμό «4», τότε ο τέταρτος της Basket League θα πάει πέμπτος, ο πέμπτος θα πάει έκτος και ούτω καθεξής. Αν όμως ο Πανιώνιος στην κλήρωση πάρει το «1», τότε θα οδηγήσει τον Ολυμπιακό στο «2» και τον Παναθηναϊκό στο «3», πράγμα που σημαίνει πως ερυθρόλευκοι και πράσινοι θα βρεθούν στον ημιτελικό και όχι στον τελικό!

Οπως αναφέρει η προκήρυξη του Κυπέλλου, δεν υπάρχει κλήρωση για τα ζευγάρια του Final 8, αλλά στα προημιτελικά παίζουν ο πρώτος με τον όγδοο, ο δεύτερος με τον έβδομο, ο τρίτος με τον έκτο και ο τέταρτος με τον πέμπτο, ενώ στα ημιτελικά παίζουν ο νικητής του 1-4 με το νικητή του 4-5 και ο νικητής του 2-7 με το νικητή του 3-6. Αν, λοιπόν, ο Πανιώνιος πάρει το «1» και… ρίξει τον Ολυμπιακό και τον Παναθηναϊκό στο «2» και στο «3» αντίστοιχα, όλα δείχνουν πως οι «αιώνιοι» δεν θα παίξουν στον τελικό της διοργάνωσης, αλλά στον ημιτελικό.
