Markopoulo - Panathinaikos 2-3

As last year, Panathinaikos won but dropped a point to Markopoulo. She led 0-2, got complacent, the home team fought back, leveled at 2-2 and led 8-3 in the tiebreak. That's where the great class of Anae spoke, who with terrible hits turned it into... two points (3-2 sets) in favor of the clover.

It happened again. Just like last year, the champion Panathinaikos found it... dark against Markopoulo, since although he was winning 2-0 (12-25 in the second set) he became complacent and almost lost the match, however the formidable Andora Anae spoke at the end and gave the "greens" the two points.

In the first set, Panathinaikos entered strongly and escaped to +5 (13-18), Pasqualino's team did not put anything into it and returned to the set with Fitzmaurice (20-23), however Hatzieustratiadou and Anae locked their 0-1 of Kalmazidis' team in 24' (21-25). The second set turned into a walk for the visitors.

With Anthoulis putting in a terrific performance, the "greens" escaped to +10 6-16 and never looked back, after closing the set at +13 from the home team with 12-25 and Anthoulis - Anae starring in the close Markopoulou, but...

But things that showed a comfortable victory for Panathinaikos and 3-0, before the great rematch with Nantes for the "34" of the Challenge Cup, took an unexpected turn for the champions. Fitzmaurice (29 points, first scorer of the match), played the match of her life and with support from Kalataridou (17 points), Spanaki (13 points), Markopoulos turned the game around in one hour.

The hosts, like last year, managed to take the match from 0-2 back in the tie break, after winning two sets with the same score (26-24). In the great finale, Markopoulos came one breath away from a total upset, as they led 8-3 at the tie break, but the formidable Anae with great attacks turned the game around and gave Panathinaikos the victory 13-15 and the two valuable points.

Όπως και πέρυσι, ο Παναθηναϊκός νίκησε αλλά άφησε βαθμό στο Μαρκόπουλο. Προηγήθηκε 0-2, εφησυχάστηκε, οι γηπεδούχες αντέδρασαν, ισοφάρισαν 2-2 και προηγήθηκαν 8-3 στο τάι μπρέικ. Εκεί μίλησε η μεγάλη κλάση της Ανάε που με τρομερά χτυπήματα το γύρισε σε… δίποντο (3-2 σετ) υπέρ του τριφυλλιού.

Έγινε ξανά. Όπως και πέρσι ο πρωταθλητής Παναθηναϊκός τα βρήκε... σκούρα κόντρα στο Μαρκόπουλο, αφού αν και κέρδιζε με 2-0 (12-25 το δεύτερο σετ) εφησυχάστηκε και παραλίγο να χάσει το ματς, ωστόσο η τρομερή Αντόρα Ανάε, μίλησε στο τέλος και έδωσε στους «πράσινους» το δίποντο.

Στο πρώτο σετ ο Παναθηναϊκός μπήκε δυνατά και ξέφυγε στο +5 (13-18), η ομάδα του Πασκουαλίνο, δε το έβαλε κάτι και επέστρεψε στο σετ με την Φιτζμόρις (20-23), ωστόσο Χατζηευστρατιάδου και Ανάε κλείδωσαν το 0-1 της ομάδας του Καλμαζίδη σε 24' (21-25). Το δεύτερο σετ εξελίχθηκε σε περίπατο για τους φιλοξενούμενους. 

Με την Ανθούλη να κάνει τρομερή εμφάνιση, οι «πράσινοι» ξέφυγαν στο +10 με 6-16 και δεν κοίταξαν ποτέ πίσω, αφού έκλεισαν το σετ στο +13 από τους γηπεδούχους με 12-25 και τις Ανθούλη - Ανάε να πρωταγωνιστούν στο κλειστό του Μαρκόπουλου, όμως...

Όμως τα πράγματα εκεί που έδειχναν μία ξεκούραστη νίκη για τον Παναθηναϊκό και 3-0, πριν τη σπουδαία ρεβάνς με τη Ναντ για τους «34» του Challenge Cup, πήραν απρόσμενη τροπή για τις πρωταθλήτριες. Η Φιτζμόρις (29 πόντους, πρώτη σκόρερ του ματς), έκανε το ματς της ζωής της και με συμπαραστάτριες τις Καλαταρίδου (17π.), Σπανάκη (13π.) το Μαρκόπουλο σε μία ώρα γύρισε το παιχνίδι.

Οι γηπεδούχοι όπως και πέρσι κατάφεραν να πάνε το ματς από 0-2 πίσω στο tie break, αφού κατέκτησαν δύο σετ με το ίδιο σκορ (26-24). Στο σπουδαίο φινάλε το Μαρκόπουλο έφτασε μία ανάσα από την ολική ανατροπή, καθώς προηγείτο με 8-3 στο tie break, όμως η τρομερη Ανάε με σπουδαίες επιθέσεις γύρισε το παιχνίδι και έδωσε τη νίκη στον Παναθηναϊκό 13-15 και τους δύο πολύτιμους βαθμούς.
