Virtus Bologna - Valencia 81-94 (video)
Valencia, with Reivers (33pts, 10 rebs) going wild, passed Bologna against Virtus and entered the trap of the 4th team and the home advantage again for good.
Pedro Martinez's team is not the only flare this year, as it continues its impressive course and, passing with the double from Italy, reached 22-13 and is again in the zone of the 4th team and the home advantage in the Euroleague playoffs.
Virtus sank even further, which despite the change of coach and the arrival of Nenad Jakovljevic, did not part with its pathogens.
Valencia next week in the doubleheader awaits Panathinaikos at home (9/4, 21:45), in an important match for both. Against Armani in the first match (7/4, 21:30).
A major protagonist for the Spanish team was Nathan Revers, who on a career night had 33 points (7/8 FP, 5/5 FP, 4/5 FP) and 10 rebounds, with Branco Badio adding another 15 (5 asst.). Jean Montero (4/7 FP, 8 asst.) added 11.
On the Virtus side, the top scorer was Carsen Edwards with 26 points (9/12 rds, 2/7 tr.), with Saliu Niang adding another 12 (5/8 rds, 7 reb.) and Derrick Alston 10.
Valencia better in points and ahead
The first minutes were more of an exploration, with Niang (4 pts) starring for Virtus, but the pace was still low (6-7 in 3'). Somewhere there Edwards appeared, with the American ace with 4 consecutive points and the help of Alston writing 12-7 in 4'. However, Badio and Reivers responded with two consecutive 3-pointers for the individual 6-0 and the lead of Valencia (12-13). The second continued his... violin and with two more shots from the perimeter sent the guests to +6 (14-20) in the 8th minute, with Virtus with Diarra reducing it to 18-20 and the quarter ending at 20-22.
Virtus tried to escape, Valencia picked it up straight away
With the start of the second period, the hosts "ran" a 4-0 run and went ahead again with 24-22 with Edwards (8pts), with Reivers (13pts) however having fun and in the 13th minute making it 24-26. Edwards (12pts, 6/8 refs) also had a terrible day, but initially with a difficult basket and then with an assist to Niang (8pts) gave the Virtus the lead again in the 15th minute at 32-28. Alston in the 16th minute with 3/3 shots made it 35-30, with Vildoza in the 17th minute taking the Italian team to 7 for the first time (37-30). Who took action for Valencia? Of course, Reivers (19pts), who with 5 consecutive points, and the help of Montero, brought the guests to the point (39-38) in the 18th minute. Moore even took the run to 7-0 in the 19th minute and put the Spanish team ahead again, 39-40, with the half ending at 43-44 with an incredible buzzer beater three-pointer by Costello.
Spanish bases for the double
The third period began with their great protagonist, Reivers, reaching 21 points and making it 43-46, with Montero in the 22nd minute making it 43-48 and Valencia's individual score now being 15-4! Edwards (19pts) was the sure solution for Virtus and together with Alston they reduced it to 53-55 in the 24th minute, with Badio in the 25th minute with a three-pointer making it 53-58. Martinez's team began to impose its rhythm, with Badio (13 points) becoming a factor in the match and De La Rea in the 27th minute with a three-pointer sending Valencia to +9 for the first time (57-66). The double-digit difference came at the hands of Thompson (61-71), with the quarter ending at 63-71.
They passed Bologna and Valencia sees an advantage!
The basket and foul of the unstoppable Rayvers (29 points) at the start of the fourth period made it 63-74 and Virtus was now having a hard time following the rhythm of the Spanish team and was running out of solutions. Vildoza's three-pointer in the 34th minute showed signs of life for the home team and reduced the score to 70-78, with Edwards making 2/2 shots in the 35th minute to make it 72-78. However, Reivers (31pts) and Badio (15pts) brought the lead back to 10 (72-82) in the 36th minute and kept the score within reach. Puerto gave the Virtus the final blow, making it 74-88 in the 37th minute and ending the game with a score of 81-94, giving Valencia the valuable victory.

Η Βαλένθια με τον Ρέιβερς (33π., 10 ριμπ.) να κάνει όργια πέρασε από την Μπολόνια κόντρα στη Βίρτους και μπήκε για τα καλά και πάλι στο κόλπο της 4άδας και του πλεονεκτήματος έδρας.
Η ομάδα του Πέδρο Μαρτίνεθ μόνο φωτοβολίδα δεν είναι φέτος, αφού συνεχίζει την εντυπωσιακή πορείας της και περνώντας με το διπλό από την Ιταλία έφτασε στο 22-13 και είναι ξανά στη ζώνη της 4άδας και του αβαντάζ έδρας στα πλέι οφ της Euroleague.
Βυθίστηκε ακόμα περισσότερο η Βίρτους, που παρά την αλλαγή προπονητή και την έλευση του Νέναντ Γιακόβλιεβιτς δεν αποχωρίστηκε τις παθογένειές της.
Η Βαλένθια την επόμενη βδομάδα στη διπλή αγωνιστική περιμένει και τον Παναθηναϊκό στην έδρα της (9/4, 21:45), σε μία αναμέτρηση σημαντική και για τους δύο. Κόντρα στην Αρμάνι το πρώτο ματς (7/4, 21:30).
Μεγάλος πρωταγωνιστής για την ισπανική ομάδα ήταν ο Νέιθαν Ρέιβερς, που σε βραδιά καριέρας είχε 33 πόντους (7/8 διπ., 5/5 τριπ., 4/5 βολές) και 10 ριμπάουντ, με τον Μπράνκο Μπαντιό να προσθέτει άλλους 15 (5 ασ.). Στους 11 ο Ζαν Μοντέρο (4/7 διπ., 8 ασ.).
Από την πλευρά της Βίρτους, πρώτος σκόρερ ήταν ο Κάρσεν Έντουαρντς με 26 πόντους (9/12 διπ., 2/7 τριπ.), με τον Σαλιού Νιανγκ να προσθέτει άλλους 12 (5/8 διπ., 7 ριμπ.) και τον Ντέρικ Άλστον 10.
Καλύτερη στα σημεία η Βαλένθια και μπροστά
Τα πρώτα λεπτά ήταν περισσότερο αναγνωριστικά, με τον Νιανγκ (4π.) να πρωταγωνιστεί για τη Βίρτους, αλλά τον ρυθμό να είναι ακόμα χαμηλός (6-7 στο 3'). Κάπου εκεί εμφανίστηκε ο Έντουαρντς, με τον Αμερικανό άσο με 4 σερί πόντους και τη βοήθεια του Άλστον να γράφει το 12-7 στο 4'. Μπαντιό και Ρέιβερς όμως απάντησαν με δύο συνεχόμενα τρίποντα για το επιμέρους 6-0 και το προβάδισμα της Βαλένθια (12-13). Ο δεύτερος συνέχισε το... βιολί του και με ακόμα δύο σουτ από την περιφέρεια έστειλε τους φιλοξενούμενους στο +6 (14-20) στο 8', με τη Βίρτους με τον Ντιαρά να μειώνει σε 18-20 και το δεκάλεπτο να ολοκληρώνεται στο 20-22.
Πήγε να ξεφύγει η Βίρτους, το μάζεψε κατευθείαν η Βαλένθια
Με την έναρξη της δεύτερης περιόδου οι γηπεδούχοι «έτρεξαν» σερί 4-0 και πέρασαν και πάλι μπροστά με 24-22 με τον Έντουαρντς (8π.), με τον Ρέιβερς (13π.) όμως να έχει κέφια και στο 13' να διαμορφώνει το 24-26. Σε τρομερή μέρα ήταν και ο Έντουαρντς (12π., 6/8 διπ.), όμως που αρχικά με δύσκολο καλάθι και στη συνέχεια με ασίστ στον Νιανγκ (8π.) να δίνει το προβάδισμα εκ νέου στη Βίρτους στο 15' με 32-28. Ο Άλστον στο 16' με 3/3 βολές διαμόρφωσε το 35-30, με τον Βιλντόζα στο 17' να πηγαίνει την ιταλική ομάδα για πρώτη φορά στους 7 (37-30). Ποιος ανέλαβε δράση για τη Βαλένθια; Φυσικά ο Ρέιβερς (19π.), που με 5 σερί πόντους, και τη βοήθεια του Μοντέρο, έφερε τους φιλοξενούμενους στον πόντο (39-38) στο 18'. Ο Μουρ μάλιστα στο 19' πήγε το σερί στο 7-0 κι έβαλε εκ νέου τους Ισπανούς μπροστά με 39-40, με το ημίχρονο να λήγει στο 43-44 με ένα απίθανο buzzer beater τρίποντο του Κοστέλο.
Ισπανικές βάσεις για το διπλό
Η τρίτη περίοδος ξεκίνησε με τον μεγάλο πρωταγωνιστή τους, τον Ρέιβερς, να φτάνει τους 21 πόντους και να κάνει το 43-46, με τον Μοντέρο στο 22' να διαμορφώνει το 43-48 και το επιμέρους της Βαλένθια να είναι πλέον 15-4! Ο Έντουαρντς (19π.) ήταν η σίγουρη λύση της Βίρτους και μαζί με τον Άλστον μείωσαν σε 53-55 στο 24', με τον Μπαντιό στο 25' με τρίποντο να γράφει το 53-58. Η ομάδα του Μαρτίνεθ ξεκίνησε να επιβάλλει τον ρυθμό της, με τον Μπαντιό (13π.) να γίνεται παράγοντας του ματς και τον Ντε Λα Ρέα στο 27' με τρίποντο να στέλνει τη Βαλένθια για πρώτη φορά στο +9 (57-66). Η διψήφια διαφορά ήρθε δια χειρός Τόμπσον (61-71), με το δεκάλεπτο να ολοκληρώνεται στο 63-71.
Πέρασε από την Μπολόνια και βλέπει αβαντάζ η Βαλένθια!
Το καλάθι και φάουλ του ασταμάτητου Ρέιβερς (29π.) στην εκκίνηση της τέταρτης περιόδου έκανε το 63-74 και τη Βίρτους να δυσκολεύεται πλέον αρκετά να ακολουθήσει τον ρυθμό της ισπανικής ομάδας και να μένει κι από λύσεις. To τρίποντο του Βιλντόζα στο 34' έδειξε σημάδια ζωής για τους γηπεδούχους και μείωσε σε 70-78, με τον Έντουαρντς με 2/2 βολές στο 35' να διαμορφώνει το 72-78. Ρέιβερς (31π.) όμως και Μπαντιό (15π.) έφεραν και πάλι τη διαφορά στους 10 (72-82) στο 36' και κράτησαν την απόσταση ασφαλείας. Το τελειωτικό χτύπημα στη Βίρτους έδωσε ο Πουέρτο, που στο 37' έκανε το 74-88 και έριξε τίτλους τέλους στην αναμέτρηση, με το 81-94 να δίνει την πολύτιμη νίκη στη Βαλένθια.
