Τι κι αν πέταξε στα σκουπίδια το πρώτο ημίχρονο, η ΑΕΚ στην επανάληψη ήταν τρομερή και λύγισε την Μπανταλόνα με 87-84 για να κάνει το 1-0 στη σειρά των προημιτελικών του BCL.

Της αρέσουν τα δύσκολα της Ένωσης, αφού στη συνήθη τακτική της φέτος άφησε να χαθεί και πάλι το πρώτο μέρος, με την ομάδα του Ντράγκαν Σάκοτα να είναι εντυπωσιακή και να γυρίζει το -13 της ανάπαυλας.

Μεγάλος πρωταγωνιστής για την Ένωση ήταν ο ΡαϊΚουάν Γκρέι, που έπαιξε για 38:41 λεπτά και είχε double-double με 14 πόντους 4/9 διπ., 6/6 βολές) και 10 ριμπάουντ. Στους 23 ο εξαιρετικός Φρανκ Μπάρτλεϊ (7/17 εντός πεδιάς) και στους 19 ο Τζέιμς Νάναλι (5/6 διπ.). Στους 11 ο κομβικός Δημήτρης Φλιώνης (3/3 διπ., 1/1 τριπ., 4/4 βολές, 4 ασ.).

Από την πλευρά της Μπανταλόνα, πρώτος σκόρερ ήταν ο Κάμερον Χαντ με 16 πόντους (4/6 διπ., 5/5 βολές), με τον Ρίκι Ρούμπιο να μετράει άλλους 13 (3/6 διπ., 6 ασ., 4 ριμπ.). Από 12 είχαν οι Χένρι Ντρελ (3/4 διπ., 2/3 τριπ.) και Τζαμπάρι Πάρκερ (4/7 διπ.).

Με σερί 8-0 στο φινάλε στο προβάδισμα η Μπανταλόνα

Η Μπανταλόνα μπήκε καλύτερα στο παιχνίδι και με τους Ρούμπιο και Άλεν στα 43" προηγήθηκε με 0-4, με τον Πάρκερ στο 3' να γράφει το 2-8, την ίδια στιγμή που η ΑΕΚ είχε ήδη 2 λάθη. Χαραλαμπόπουλος και Γκρέι στο 5' έφεραν την Ένωση στον πόντο (9-10), με τον Μπάρτλεϊ στο 6' να δίνει το προβάδισμα στην ομάδα του Σάκοτα με 11-10. Ο Αμερικανός άσος (5π.) πήρε μπροστά και το 6' με τρίποντο έκανε το 14-12, με τον Ρούζιτς (6π.) στο 7' με 4 σερί πόντους να απαντά για το 14-16. Ντρελ και Χάνγκα μάλιστα με δύο «κολλητά» τρίποντα έγραψαν το 16-22 στο 9', με τον Ντρελ και πάλι στο φινάλε του δεκαλέπτου να γράφει το 16-24 για το ισπανικό 8-0 σερί.

Προσπάθησε να επιστρέψει η ΑΕΚ, απάντησαν άμεσα οι Ισπανοί

Ο Ντρελ (8π.) με την εκκίνηση της δεύτερης περιόδου πήγε το επιμέρους σκορ στο 11-0 για το 16-27 και την πρώτη διψήφια διαφορά του ματς, με την ΑΕΚ να βιάζεται στην επίθεση και να πληγώνεται από τα 5 επιθετικά ριμπάουντ της Μπανταλόνα. Ο Χαντ στο 14' πήγε τους φιλοξενούμενους στο +12 (19-31), με την Ένωση κάπου εκεί να αφυπνίζεται, να ανεβάζει την πίεση στην άμυνα και στο 16' να κατεβάζει τη διαφορά στους 6 (27-33) με πρωταγωνιστές τους Γκρέι και Νάναλι. Η Μπανταλόνα όμως με τρίποντο του Πάρκερ (7π., 2/2 τριπ.) και τον Χάκασον και πάλι από την περιφέρεια ανέβασε και πάλι τη διαφορά σε διψήφια τιμή στο 18' (32-43), με τον Ντρελ με φόλοου-κάρφωμα στο 19' να κάνει το 32-45, την Μπανταλόνα να πηγαίνει στα αποδυτήρια με το 34-47. 

Με επιμέρους 30-14 έφερε τούμπα το ματς η Ένωση!

Εντελώς διαφορετική η εικόνα στην τρίτη περίοδο, με την ΑΕΚ δείχνει διαφορετικό πρόσωπο και να γυρίζει υπέρ της το μομέντουμ της αναμέτρησης. Η επιχείρηση κάλυψη της διαφοράς ξεκίνησε από τους Φλιώνη, Μπάρτλεϊ και Γκρέι, με την Ένωση να μειώνει αρχικά σε 41-47 στο 23' και με τον Μπάρτλεϊ να έχει βρει ρυθμό πλέον να φέρνει το παιχνίδι στα ίσα στο 26' (49-49).Το ματς πλέον παιζόταν σε διαφορετικό τέμπο, που βόλευε ξεκάθαρα την ομάδα του Σάκοτα, με την Μπανταλόνα να βρίσκει λύση με το τρίποντο του Χάνγκα στο 28' για το 53-57, με την ΑΕΚ να απαντά με επιμέρους 8-2 και με τις 2/2 βολές του Γκρέι (14π.) να περνάει μπροστά στο 30' με 61-59 και τους γηπεδούχους να μπαίνουν στην τελική ευθεία του ματς με το υπέρ τους 64-61, έχοντας επιμέρους 30-14!

Στα δύσκολα έβγαλε ποιότητα κι έκανε το 1-0 η ΑΕΚ

Η έναρξη της τέταρτης περιόδου ήταν πραγματική... μάχη, με την Μπανταλόνα ξεκινάει καλύτερα και με τον Πάρκερ στο 32' να περνάει και μπροστά με 66-69. Οι Ισπανοί έβρισκαν μεγάλα σουτ, με το ένα εξ αυτών στο 34' να γράφει το 68-72 με τον Κραγκ από τα 8 μέτρα. Η Μπανταλόνα κρατούσε το προβάδισμα, με τον Χαντ να μπαίνει κι αυτός στην επιθετική εξίσωση και με 2/2 βολές να κάνει το 70-74 στο 35'. Ο Κραγκ και πάλι με τρίποντο στο 36' διαμόρφωσε το 72-77, με τον Νάναλι στο 37' να μειώνει σε 74-77. Ο Χαντ (13π.)  απάντησε άμεσα για το 74-79, με τους Νάναλι και Μπάρτλεϊ (21π.) με σερί 4-0 να φέρνουν το ματς στον πόντο (78-79). Ο Νάναλι (17π.) με πολύ δύσκολο σουτ στα 1:45 έβαλε μπροστά την ΑΕΚ με 81-79, με τον Χαντ στο 1:18 με τρίποντο να κάνει το 81-82. Ο Φλιώνη στα 42" να βάζει και πάλι μπροστά την Ένωση με 83-82. Χάνγκα και Πάρκερ αστόχησαν στη συνέχεια, με τον Νάναλι στα 12" με 2/2 βολές να κάνει το 85-82. Ο Ρούμπιο στα 10" είχε 1/2 για το 85-83, με τον Μπάρτλεϊ και πάλι με τον ίδιο τρόπο στα 8" να γράφει το 87-83, με τον Πάρκερ να αστοχεί και πάλι σε τρίποντο, τον Ρούμπιο να παίρνει το επιθετικό ριμπάουντ, να βάζει την πρώτη, να χάνει τη δεύτερη, αλλά την ΑΕΚ να κάνει το 1-0 με το 87-84.
