Panathinaikos AKTOR was defeated 85-83 by Fenerbahce, with Wade Baldwin scoring the winning basket on the exhale in a spectacular scuffle, before chaos broke out on the glass floor of the Telekom Center Athens.

Panathinaikos AKTOR and Fenerbahce gave us all the battle we were waiting for at the Telekom Center Athens on Friday night (13/2). The battle that was worth seeing between the last two EuroLeague champions. In the finale, it was Sarunas Jasikevicius' team that smiled, prevailing 85-83, thanks to Wade Baldwin's winning buzzer-beater.

After the final whistle, chaos broke out on the glass floor, with Matthias Lesor becoming enraged by the celebrations of Fenerbahce's American guard.

The Greens thus fell to 16-12 (9-5 home and 7-7 away), while the Turkish club rose to 20-7 (11-3 home and 9-4 away), remaining at the top of the standings.

MVP

Tarik Biberovic finished the game with 26 points on 6/7 three-pointers, but Wade Baldwin became Fenerbahce's MVP after making the game-winning shot.

The stats that stood out

Fenerbahce entered the game with 6/10 three-pointers in the first period, but in the second they had 2/8. At the end of the game, Jasikevicius' team had 13/30 three-pointers and Panathinaikos 6/17.

The match

Panathinaikos entered the match with Grant, Nan, Osman, Juancho, Farid and led 10-9 at 5’30”. Biberovic and Meli with three three-pointers made it 12-20 at 7’30”, while the quarter ended at 19-25 after a long shot by Hernangomez and Nan with 6 points.

Shorts entered the match and immediately started helping with the scoring, offering 8 points in 9’15”, but Juancho was even more important, reaching the double (12 points, 9 rebounds) at 18’12” that he played in the first half, playing a lot in the fifth. The Greens were ahead by as much as 6 points (42-36) at 1’12” before the break, but Meli and Biberovic, who had 16 points, reduced it to 42-41 (20′).

In the 25′ the Greens had built a small lead again (55-48), with Rogavopoulos scoring 5 consecutive points. Baldwin and De Colo made it 58-54 in the 28′, taking advantage of some mistakes and some misplaced attempts by the home team.

Jasikevitsius’ team ran 3-14 in individual games from 30′ to 33′ to overtake by 5 points (65-70), with Biberovic at 24. Panathinaikos managed to bring the match to a close tied at 35′, with Nan and Slouka. Bitim and Sloukas exchanged three-pointers for 76-76 at 36′. The greens captain missed two chances to give his team the lead, Meli made a mistake, but Horton-Tucker blocked Nan.

De Colo scored for 76-78, but Nan made 2/2 shots for 78-78 at 38’05”, winning a foul from the French guard. Juancho stole from Bieberovic, but Baldwin stopped Grant high and then won a foul from Nan. The American guard of the Turks did not make a mistake from the charity stripe and scored 78-80 with 53.1″ to go.

In the next phase, 10″ later, Grant was charged with an offensive foul, but Nunn managed to steal the rebound and throw the ball to Baldwin, to give the clover new possession. He also took the offense, but without finding a target, before fouling Horton-Tucker with 15.5″ remaining in the final. He made 2/2 and the score became 78-82. Juancho made a very long three-pointer for 81-82 in 9.9″.

Grant fouled Jatunen in 8.5″. The Finn made 1/2 shots and Shorts tied the score at 83-83 in 2.5″, after an impressive gallop. But Baldwin spoke last, making the winning buzzer-beater.

Ο Παναθηναϊκός AKTOR ηττήθηκε με 85-83 από τη Φενέρμπαχτσε, με τον Γουέιντ Μπάλντουιν να βάζει νικητήριο καλάθι στην εκπνοή σε μια θεαματική ματσάρα, πριν ξεσπάσει χάος στο glass floor του Telekom Center Athens.

Παναθηναϊκός AKTOR και Φενέρμπαχτσε χάρισαν σε όλους μας τη μάχη που περίμεναμε στο Telekom Center Athens το βράδυ της Παρασκευής (13/2). Τη μάχη που άξιζε να δούμε ανάμεσα στις δύο τελευταίες πρωταθλήτριες της EuroLeague. Στο φινάλε ήταν η ομάδα του Σαρούνας Γιασικεβιτσιους που χαμογέλασε, επικρατώντας με 85-83, χάρη στο buzzer-beater νίκης του Γουέντ Μπάλντουιν.

Μετά το σφύριγμα της λήξης ξέσπασε χάος glass floor, με τον Ματίας Λεσόρ να γίνεται έξαλλος από τους πανηγυρισμούς του Αμερικανού γκαρντ της Φενέρ.

Οι πράσινοι έπεσαν έτσι στο 16-12 (9-5 εντός και 7-7 εκτός έδρας), ενώ ο τουρκικός σύλλογος ανέβηκε στο 20-7 (11-3 εντός και 9-4 εκτός έδρας), παραμένοντας στην κορυφή της βαθμολογίας. 

Ο MVP

Ο Ταρίκ Μπιμπέροβιτς έκλεισε το ματς με 26 πόντους από 6/7 τρίποντα, όμως ο Γουέιντ Μπάλντουιν έγινε ο MVP της Φενέρμπαχτσε, αφού έβαλε το σουτ της νίκης.

Τα στατιστικά που ξεχώρισαν

Η Φενέρμπαχτσε μπήκε στο ματς με 6/10 τρίποντα στην πρώτη περίοδο, όμως στην δεύτερη είχε 2/8. Στο τέλος του ματς, η ομάδα του Γιασικεβίτσιους είχε 13/30 τρίποντα και ο Παναθηναϊκός 6/17.

Ο αγώνας

Ο Παναθηναϊκός μπήκε στο ματς με Γκραντ, Ναν, Όσμαν, Χουάντσο, Φαρίντ και προηγήθηκε με 10-9 στο 5’30”. Μπιμπέροβιτς και Μέλι με τρία τρίποντα έγραψαν το 12-20 στο 7’30”, ενώ το δεκάλεπτο έκλεισε στο 19-25 μετά από μακρινό σουτ του Ερνανγκόμεθ και τον Ναν στους 6 πόντους.

Ο Σορτς μπήκε στο ματς κι άρχισε να βοηθάει αμέσως στο σκοράρισμα, προσφέροντας 8 πόντους σε 9’15”, όμως ο Χουάντσο ήταν ακόμα πιο σημαντικός, αγγίζοντας το double (12 πόντοι, 9 ριμπάουντ) σε 18’12” που αγωνίστηκε στο πρώτο μέρος, παίζοντας αρκετή ώρα και στο πέντε. Οι πράσινοι βρέθηκαν μπροστά έως και με 6 πόντους (42-36) στα 1’12” πριν την ανάπαυλα, αλλά ο Μέλι και ο Μπιμπέροβιτς, που είχε 16 πόντους, μείωσαν σε 42-41 (20′).

Στο 25′ οι πράσινοι είχαν χτίσει ξανά ένα μικρό προβάδισμα (55-48), με τον Ρογκαβόπουλο να βάζει 5 συνεχόμενους πόντους. Μπάλντουιν και Ντε Κολό έγραψαν το 58-54 στο 28′, εκμεταλλευόμενοι κάποια λάθη και κάποιες άστοχες προσπάθειες των γηπεδούχων.

Η ομάδα του Γιασικεβίτστιους έτρεξε επιμέρους 3-14 από το 30′ έως το 33′ για να προσπεράσει με 5 πόντους (65-70), έχοντας τον Μπιμπέροβιτς στους 24. Ο Παναθηναϊκός κατάφερε να φέρει το ματς στα ίσια στο 35′, με τον Ναν και τον Σλούκα. Μπιτίμ και Σλούκας αντάλλαξαν τρίποντα για το 76-76 στο 36′. Ο αρχηγός των πρασίνων έχασε δύο ευκαιρίες για να δώσει προβάδισμα στην ομάδα του, ο Μέλι έκανε λάθος, αλλά ο Χόρτον-Τάκερ μπλόκαρε τον Ναν.

Ο Ντε Κολό σκόραρε για το 76-78, όμως ο Ναν έβαλε 2/2 βολές για το 78-78 στο 38’05”, κερδίζοντας φάουλ από τον Γάλλο γκαρντ. Ο Χουάντσο έκλεψε από τον Μπιμπέροβιτς, αλλά ο Μπάλντουιν σταμάτησε ψηλά τον Γκραντ κι ακολούθως κέρδισε φάουλ από τον Ναν. Ο Αμερικανός γκαρντ των Τούρκων δεν λάθεψε από τη γραμμή της φιλανθρωπίας και πέτυχε το 78-80 με 53.1″ για το τέλος.

Στην επόμενη φάση, δηλαδή 10″ αργότερα, ο Γκραντ χρεώθηκε με επιθετικό φάουλ, όμως ο Ναν κατάφερε να κλέψει στην επαναφορά και να πετάξει την μπάλα πάνω στον Μπάλντουιν, για να δώσει νέα κατοχή στο τριφύλλι. Ο ίδιος πήρε και την επίθεση, χωρίς όμως να βρει στόχο, πριν κάνει φάουλ στον Χόρτον-Τάκερ με 15.5″ να απομένουν για το φινάλε. Εκείνος έβαλε 2/2 και το σκορ έγινε 78-82. Ο Χουάντσο έβαλε ένα πολύ μεγάλο τρίποντο για το 81-82 στα 9.9″.

Ο Γκραντ έκανε φάουλ στον Γιάντουνεν στα 8.5″. Ο Φινλανδός έβαλε 1/2 βολές και ο Σορτς ισοφάρισε σε 83-83 στα 2.5″, μετά από εντυπωσιακό καλπασμό. Όμως ο Μπάλντουιν μίλησε τελευταίος, βάζοντας buzzer-beater νίκης.
