Sakkari was defeated by Mira Andreeva in 2-0 sets (6-0, 6-4) and her appearance at the Australian Open in the second round of the Grand Slam was completed.
Maria Sakkari bowed to the superiority of the in-form Mira Andreeva (No. 7 in the world ranking), as she was defeated in 2-0 sets and was eliminated from the continuation of the Australian Open, after a match that lasted 67 minutes.
The Greek tennis player did not manage to resist in the first set, as Andreeva conquered it furiously and without losing a game (6-0) with the set lasting 27 minutes.
In the second set, Sakkari fought for the upset and responded to the Russian's break, tying the score at 2-2. The two went hand in hand in the set until the eighth game (4-4), with Andreeva breaking Sakkari's serve again (5-4) and prevailing in the end with a hold.
Andreeva's next opponent is Romanian Elena Rouze (No.79 in the world rankings).

Η Μαρία Σάκκαρη υποκλίθηκε στην ανωτερότητα της φορμαρισμένης Μίρα Αντρέεβα (Νο. 7 της παγκόσμιας κατάταξης), καθώς ηττήθηκε με 2-0 σετ και αποκλείστηκε από τη συνέχεια του Australian Open, μετά από έναν αγώνα που διήρκησε 67 λεπτά.
Η Ελληνίδα τενίστρια δεν κατάφερε να αντισταθεί στο πρώτο σετ, καθώς η Αντρέεβα το κατέκτησε φουριόζα και δίχως να χάσει κάποιο game (6-0) με το σετ να διαρκεί 27 λεπτά.
Στο δεύτερο σετ η Σάκκαρη πάλεψε για την ανατροπή και απάντησε στο break της Ρωσίδας ισοφαρίζοντας σε 2-2. Οι δυο τους πήγαν χέρι – χέρι στο σετ μέχρι και το όγδοο game (4-4), με την Αντρέεβα να σπάει ξανά το σερβίς της Σάκκαρη (5-4) και να επικρατεί στο τέλος με hold.
Επόμενος αντίπαλος για την Αντρέεβα, η Ρουμάνα Έλενα Ρούζε (Νο.79 της παγκόσμιας κατάταξης).
