Το US Open και η κορυφή του κόσμου έχουν νέο κάτοχο! Ο Κάρλος Αλκαράθ με εκπληκτικό παιχνίδι στον τελικό του τέταρτου και τελευταίου Grand Slam στη σεζόν, πήρε τη νίκη με 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 επί του Γιανίκ Σίνερ για να φτάσει στα έξι τρόπαια στην καριέρα του σε Major τουρνουά.

Ο περυσινός κάτοχος του US Open διατήρησε το σερβίς του χωρίς ν' απειληθεί και με μειωμένα λάθη σε σχέση με το πρώτο σετ μπόρεσε να φτάσει στην ισοφάριση κατακτώντας το σετ με 6-3.

Αν και ο Σίνερ βρήκε το τρόπο να σταματήσει το σερί του Ισπανού, στο 7ο game ο Αλκαράθ έκλεισε το σετ με 6-1 και πήρε ξανά κεφάλι στο ματς.
