AEK - Volos 1-0

AEK maintained its unbeaten streak for the 13th match, as with... Franji Piero's underground header, it defeated Volos 1-0 and caught Olympiacos at the top with 13 points.

In general, the match did not claim "quality laurels", with AEK in control, but Volos was well-read and made it difficult for them to develop, especially in the first half, where there were not many chances. With Penrice as the starter, Enosias was constantly pressing from the sides and looking for Jovic-Pierro, in order to "warm them up" in view of Celje. The first big moment came from Eliasson's feet in the 18th minute, with Jovic's header going wide of the post. In the 32nd minute, Volos also threatened, when Strakosha blocked Dzokas' shot, while until the two teams went to the locker room, no other moment was dangerous.

A marking by Penrice on Soria did not deprive the experienced right-back of participation in the second half, while despite the bad image, Marko Nikolic did not proceed with corrective moves. Siambanis was ready every time AEK stepped into his area, but the "yellow and black" did not have good finishes either. Finally, the solution came in the 55th minute, as for the first time AEK quickly counterattacked through Mandalos, Eliasson from the right turned accurately for Piero who opened the score with a header... a fish (1-0)! In fact, the crowd adored the Haitian forward who seems to be in good "moon"!

The introduction of Joao Mario helped the home team move the ball, with the Portuguese replacing Jovic who, once again, failed to find the goal he was looking for. Thus, in the 69th minute, Joao Mario and in the 70th minute, Koita threatened from good points, but the second goal that would have relieved the tension did not come. The substitutions did not favor the pace of the match, but Kutesa and Piero "touched" the 2-0 with nice shots in the 86th minute and 89th minute, respectively, especially the Haitian forward who saw his effort hit the post. The last shot from Joao Mario in the first minute of injury time was blocked by Siambanis and the final score at the "OPAP Arena" was 1-0.

Το αήττητο σερί της για 13ο ματς κράτησε η ΑΕΚ, που με την... υπόγεια κεφαλιά του Φραντζί Πιερό νίκησε 1-0 τον Βόλο και έπιασε τον Ολυμπιακό στην κορυφή με 13 βαθμούς.

Σε γενικές γραμμές, ο αγώνας δεν διεκδικούσε «δάφνες ποιότητας», με την ΑΕΚ να έχει τα ηνία, όμως ο Βόλος ήταν καλά διαβασμένος και δυσκόλεψε την ανάπτυξη της, ειδικά στο πρώτο ημίχρονο, όπου δεν σημειώθηκαν πολλές ευκαιρίες. Με τον Πενράις βασικό, η Ένωση πίεζε διαρκώς από τα πλάγια και αναζητούσε τους Γιόβιτς-Πιερό, ώστε να τους «ζεστάνει» ενόψει Τσέλιε. Από τα πόδια του Ελίασον προήλθε η πρώτη μεγάλη στιγμή στο 18', με την κεφαλιά του Γιόβιτς να περνά δίπλα από το δοκάρι. Στο 32' απείλησαν και οι Βολιώτες, όταν ο Στρακόσα μπλόκαρε το σουτ του Τζόκα, ενώ μέχρι να πάνε οι δυο ομάδες στα αποδυτήρια, καμία άλλη στιγμή δεν ήταν επικίνδυνη.

Ένα μαρκάρισμα του Πενράις στον Σόρια δεν στέρησε τη συμμετοχή του έμπειρου δεξιού οπισθοφύλακα στο β' μέρος, ενώ παρά την κακή εικόνα, ο Μάρκο Νίκολιτς δεν προχώρησε σε διορθωτικές κινήσεις. Ο Σιαμπάνης ήταν έτοιμος κάθε φορά που η ΑΕΚ πατούσε την περιοχή του, όμως και οι «κιτρινόμαυροι» δεν είχαν καλά τελειώματα. Τελικά, η λύση ήλθε στο 55', καθώς για πρώτη φορά η ΑΕΚ αντεπιτέθηκε γρήγορα μέσω του Μάνταλου, ο Ελίασον από τα δεξιά γύρισε με ακρίβεια για τον Πιερό που με κεφαλιά... ψαράκι άνοιξε το σκορ (1-0)! Μάλιστα, ο κόσμος αποθέωσε τον Αϊτινό φορ που δείχνει σε καλό «φεγγάρι»!

Η είσοδος του Ζοάο Μάριο βοήθησε τους γηπεδούχους στην κυκλοφορία της μπάλας, με τον Πορτογάλο να αντικαθιστά τον Γιόβιτς που, ξανά, δεν βρήκε το γκολ που ψάχνει. Έτσι, στο 69' ο Ζοάο Μάριο και στο 70' ο Κοϊτά απείλησαν από καλά σημεία, όμως δεν ήλθε το δεύτερο τέρμα που θα απέβαλε το άγχος. Οι αλλαγές δεν ευνόησαν τον ρυθμό του αγώνα, όμως ο Κουτέσα και ο Πιερό «άγγιξαν» με ωραία σουτ το 2-0 στο 86' και το 89', αντίστοιχα, ειδικά ο Αϊτινός φορ που είδε την προσπάθεια του να καταλήγει στο δοκάρι. Τελευταίο σουτ από τον Ζοάο Μάριο στο πρώτο λεπτό των καθυστερήσεων για να μπλοκάρει ο Σιαμπάνης και το 1-0 να είναι το τελικό σκορ στην «OPAP Arena».
