Super League 2 with two groups - The "exception" and the system

What decisions were made at the Super League 2 Board of Directors for the new championship.

Important decisions were made at the Super League 2 Board of Directors. Regarding the format, if the participating teams are from 19 to 21, the system of conducting with two groups will be maintained, while if there are 18, there will be a single championship.

Since the teams are 21, as provided for in the initial announcement, they will be divided as follows: Eleven (11) teams in Group A (POT Iraklis, PAS Giannina, Makedonikos, Kampaniakos, PAOK B, Niki Volou, Anagennisi Karditsas, Kavala, Nestos Chrysoupolis, PAS Lamia, Asteras Aktor B) and ten (10) teams in Group B (Athens Kallithea, Egaleo, Hellas Syrou, Ilioupoli, Kalamata, Markos, Olympiacos B, Panargiakos, Panionios, Chania).

The teams ranked 1-4 will compete in the playoffs and the teams ranked 5-10 in the play-outs. The 11th team in Group A will be directly relegated. The champions of each group are promoted from the play off/play out and four from each group are relegated. The deadline for submitting the fee and registering for participation in the championship, for the 2025-2026 season, is Monday, July 7, 2025 at 2:30 p.m.

If the teams that will finally register for participation by the deadline are:

-Twenty (20), they will compete in two groups where the two champions are promoted and 8 are relegated.

-Nineteen (19), they will compete in two groups where the two champions are promoted and 7 are relegated.

Eighteen (18), they will compete in one group where the two first are promoted and 6 are relegated.

Athens Kallithea, Markos and Olympiacos B’ were registered as new members in the category, while the submission of legalization documents is expected from the teams Nestos Chrysoupolis, PAS Lamia, Anagennisi Karditsas and Hellas Syrou and the implementation of the decisions of the Arbitration Court concerning PAE Panargeakos and PAE Panachaiki is pending.

The draw for the new championship was set for September 1st, while it was decided almost unanimously (only Iraklis abstained) to award the television rights and find a name for the company PERCAPITA S.A. (a company owned by Vardinoyannis, which will undertake to find a contract for all 9 teams in Super League 1).

Ποιες αποφάσεις λήφθηκαν στο ΔΣ της Super League 2 για το νέο πρωτάθλημα.

Σημαντικές αποφάσεις λήφθηκαν στο Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο της Super League 2. Όσον αφορά στο format, αν οι συμμετέχουσες ομάδες είναι από 19 ως 21, θα διατηρηθεί το σύστημα διεξαγωγής με δύο ομίλους, ενώ αν είναι 18, θα υπάρχει ένα ενιαίο πρωτάθλημα.

Εφόσον οι ομάδες είναι 21, όπως προβλέπεται στην αρχική προκήρυξη, θα χωριστούν ως εξής: Έντεκα (11) ομάδες στον Α’ Όμιλο (ΠΟΤ Ηρακλής, ΠΑΣ Γιάννινα, Μακεδονικός, Καμπανιακός, ΠΑΟΚ Β, Νίκη Βόλου, Αναγέννηση Καρδίτσας, Καβάλα, Νέστος Χρυσούπολης, ΠΑΣ Λαμία, Asteras Aktor B) και δέκα (10) ομάδες στον Β’ Όμιλο (Athens Kallithea, Αιγάλεω, Ελλάς Σύρου, Ηλιούπολη, Καλαμάτα, Μαρκό, Ολυμπιακός Β, Παναργειακός, Πανιώνιος, Χανιά).

Στα πλέι οφ θα αγωνιστούν οι ομάδες στις θέσεις 1-4 και στα play out οι ομάδες στις θέσεις 5-10. Η 11η ομάδα του Α’ Ομίλου θα υποβιβάζεται απευθείας. Από τα play off/ play out προβιβάζονται οι πρωταθλητές κάθε ομίλου και υποβιβάζονται τέσσερις από κάθε όμιλο. Καταληκτική ημερομηνία κατάθεσης του παράβολου και της δήλωσης συμμετοχής στο πρωτάθλημα, αγωνιστικής περιόδου 2025-2026, ορίζεται η Δευτέρα 7 Ιουλίου 2025 και ώρα 14:30.

Αν εντέλει οι ομάδες που θα δηλώσουν συμμετοχή έως την καταληκτική ημερομηνία είναι:

-Είκοσι (20), θα αγωνιστούν σε δυο ομίλους όπου προβιβάζονται οι δυο πρωταθλητές και υποβιβάζονται 8.

-Δεκαεννέα (19), θα αγωνιστούν σε δυο ομίλους όπου προβιβάζονται οι δυο πρωταθλητές και υποβιβάζονται 7.

Δεκαοκτώ (18), θα αγωνιστούν σε έναν όμιλο όπου προβιβάζονται οι δυο πρώτοι και υποβιβάζονται 6.

Ως νέα μέλη στην κατηγορία εγγράφηκαν Athens Kallithea, Μαρκό και Ολυμπιακός Β’, ενώ αναμένεται η υποβολή νομιμοποιητικών από τις ομάδες Νέστος Χρυσούπολης, ΠΑΣ Λαμία, Αναγέννηση Καρδίτσας και Ελλάς Σύρου και εκκρεμεί η εφαρμογή των αποφάσεων του Διαιτητικού Δικαστηρίου που αφορούν στις ΠΑΕ Παναργειακός και ΠΑΕ Παναχαϊκή.

Η κλήρωση του νέου πρωταθλήματος ορίστηκε για την 1η Σεπτεμβρίου, ενώ αποφασίστηκε σχεδόν ομόφωνα (μειοψήφησε μόνο ο Ηρακλής) η ανάθεση των τηλεοπτικών δικαιωμάτων και εξεύρεση ονοματοδοσίας στην εταιρεία PERCAPITA Α.Ε (εταιρεία συμφερόντων Βαρδινογιάννη, που θα αναλάβει να βρει συμβόλαιο και στις 9 ομάδες της Super League 1).
