Unstoppable Malaga, broke out in the 4th period and prevailed 83-67 over Galatasaray in the final of the Final Four of the Basketball Champions League, winning the trophy for the second consecutive year.

Malaga is the absolute boss of the Basketball Champions League. The Spanish team shocked, crushed Galatasaray 83-67 in the final of the Final Four of the BCL at the SUNEL Arena and defended their title from last year, making it back to back.

Malaga thus became the second team in the history of the competition with two consecutive victories, after Burgos in the 2020-2021 two-year period. This was the 6th title for the Spaniards in all competitions in the last three years.

The MVP

It is unfair to single out a player from this team that is the jewel of European basketball. However, Kendrick Perry rightfully wins the award, since in addition to finishing the game with 13 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals, he was the one who scored both big three-pointers in the 4th period that sealed the victory.

The statistic that stood out

Malaga had 8 players who scored between 6 and 14 points, in further proof of the team's absolute balance, the best in the history of the competition.

The match

The game started with the teams locked and Galatasaray taking a small lead with 4-0. However, Malaga reacted and ran a 10-0 run, taking a 4-10 lead, while later increasing the lead to 7 points (6-13 and 10-17), closing the first period with 13-19.

At the beginning of the second period, Malaga continued in the same pattern and increased the lead to 11 points (13-24). However, Galatasaray reacted at that point and thanks to a partial score of 13-2, tied the score at 26-26. However, Malaga eventually managed to go to the locker room with the upper hand in the match thanks to consecutive baskets by Perez, with the end of the second period finding them in front with a score of 31-37.

The derby continued in the 3rd period, with Malaga having a slight lead, but Galatasaray staying close to the score. However, Cummings' 4th foul in the 25th minute confused the Turkish team, with Malaga taking advantage of this and escaping with 40-49 and 42-51.

Somewhere there, however, Tyrone Wallace came forward for Galatasaray and, having a role as creator and executor, helped his team reduce the score to 49-53, however, a three-pointer by Kravis made the score 49-56 for Malaga at the end of the third period.

In the fourth period, the scenario did not change, with the Spaniards maintaining a small lead. But then came an outburst from Malaga, which, thanks to an 8-2 run, escaped with a 56-68 lead in the 35th minute.

Galatasaray tried to react. But Malaga gave them no chance. And when in the 38th minute Perry and Kalinowski hit consecutive three-pointers to make the score 63-80, the game was over.

Ασταμάτητη η Μάλαγα, ξέσπασε στην 4η περίοδο και επικράτησε με 83-67 της Γαλατάσαραϊ στον τελικό του Final Four του Basketball Champions League, κατακτώντας το τρόπαιο για δεύτερη συνεχόμενη χρονιά.

Η Μάλαγα είναι το απόλυτο αφεντικό του Basketball Champions League. Συγκλονιστικοί οι Ισπανοί, πάτησαν με 83-67 την Γαλατάσαραϊ στον τελικό του Final Four του BCL στην SUNEL Arena και υπερασπίστηκαν τον περσινό τίτλο τους, κάνοντας το back to back.

Η Μάλαγα έγινε έτσι η δεύτερη ομάδα στην ιστορία της διοργάνωσης με δύο σερί κατακτήσεις, μετά την Μπούργος την διετία 2020-2021. Αυτός, δε, ήταν ο 6ος τίτλος των Ισπανών σε όλες τις διοργανώσεις την τελευταία τριετία.

Ο MVP

Είναι άδικο να ξεχωρίσει κάποιος έναν παίκτη από αυτή την ομάδα-στολίδι του ευρωπαϊκού μπάσκετ. Ο Κέντρικ Πέρι ωστόσο κερδίζει δικαίως το χρίσμα, αφού πέρα από το γεγονός ότι τελείωσε τον αγώνα με 13 πόντους, 4 ριμπάουντ, 3 ασίστ και 2 κλεψίματα, ήταν αυτός που σημείωσε και τα δύο μεγάλα τρίποντα στην 4η περίοδο που κλείδωσαν τη νίκη.

Το στατιστικό που ξεχώρισε

Η Μάλαγα είχε 8 παίκτες που σημείωσαν μεταξύ 6 και 14 πόντων, σε μία ακόμα απόδειξη της απόλυτης ισορροπίας της ομάδας, της καλύτερης στην ιστορία της διοργάνωσης.

Ο αγώνας

Το παιχνίδι ξεκίνησε με τις ομάδες μαγκωμένες και την Γαλατάσαραϊ να παίρνει ένα μικρό προβάδισμα με 4-0. Η Μάλαγα όμως αντέδρασε και έτρεξε ένα σερί 10-0, περνώντας μπροστά με 4-10, ενώ στην συνέχεια ανέβασε την διαφορά στους 7 πόντους (6-13 και 10-17), κλείνοντας την πρώτη περίοδο προηγούμενη με 13-19.

Στο ξεκίνημα της δεύτερης περιόδου η Μάλαγα συνέχισε στο ίδιο μοτίβο και ανέβασε την διαφορά στους 11 πόντους (13-24). Η Γαλατά όμως αντέδρασε σε εκείνο το σημείο και χάρη σε ένα επιμέρους σκορ 13-2 ισοφάρισε σε 26-26. Η Μάλαγα πάντως κατάφερε τελικά να πάει στα αποδυτήρια έχοντας το πάνω χέρι στο ματς χάρη σε συνεχόμενα καλάθια του Πέρεζ, με το φινάλε της δεύτερης περιόδου να την βρίσκει μπροστά στο σκορ με 31-37.

Το ντέρμπι συνεχίστηκε και στην 3η περίοδο, με τη Μάλαγα να έχει ένα ελαφρύ προβάδισμα, αλλά την Γαλατάσαραϊ να μένει κοντά στο σκορ. Το 4ο φάουλ του Κάμινγκς όμως στο 25′ μπέρδεψε την τουρκική ομάδα, με την Μάλαγα να το εκμεταλλεύεται αυτό και να ξεφεύγει με 40-49 και 42-51.

Κάπου εκεί, ωστόσο, βγήκε μπροστά ο Τάιρον Γουάλας για την Γαλατάσαραϊ και έχοντας ρόλο δημιουργού και εκτελεστή βοήθησε την ομάδα του να μειώσει σε 49-53, ωστόσο ένα τρίποντο του Κράβις έκανε το σκορ 49-56 για τη Μάλαγα στο φινάλε της τρίτης περιόδου.

Στην τέταρτη περίοδο το σενάριο δεν άλλαξε, με τους Ισπανούς να διατηρούν ένα μικρό προβάδισμα. Τότε όμως ήρθε ένα ξέσπασμα της Μάλαγα, η οποία χάρη σε ένα επιμέρους σκορ 8-2 ξέφυγε με 56-68 στο 35’.

Η Γαλατάσαραϊ προσπάθησε να αντιδράσει. Η Μάλαγα όμως δεν της άφησε περιθώρια. Και όταν στο 38’ οι Πέρι και Καλινόσκι ευστόχησαν σε διαδοχικά τρίποντα και έκαναν το σκορ 63-80, το παιχνίδι τελείωσε.
