With another impressive game (3 winners), the Greek tennis player reached 5-3, with the Russian winning her first easy game to stay in the set (5-4). But Sakkari finished the set immediately after, closing it with a third love game, with an impressive 12/13 in first serve points won.

Hill's notebook gave solutions to Sakkari who made it 2-0

With the "good morning" Sakkari made a break taking advantage of the 4th of the opportunities she had to break her opponent's serve. For the first time in the match, Rous found herself with a break point and even a triple at 0-40, but Maria played excellently and with five consecutive points she held her serve for 2-0.

The Dutchwoman reduced to 2-1 and soon after made her first break of the match even though she was 30-0 down. She also took a 3-2 lead thanks to an unforced error by Sakkaris on a point that was all hers, but netted.

Before she saved the third break point, however, she had a heated argument with the umpire about a serve being called out, telling her she was looking at the wrong mark. Despite the intensity of the moment (she didn't even go to greet the referee), she didn't lose her composure and took the game and the victory.

Η Μαρία Σάκκαρη επέστρεψε στις καλές εμφανίσεις, κέρδισε με 6-4, 6-4 την Αράντσα Ρους και συνεχίζει στον τρίτο γύρο της Μαδρίτης.

Η Μαρία Σάκκαρη χωρίς ιδιαίτερα προβλήματα, πέρασε στον τρίτο γύρο της Μαδρίτης.

Η Αράντσα Ρους της έβαλε δύσκολα μόνο στα μισά του δεύτερου σετ, με την Ελληνίδα τενίστρια να κάνει το καλύτερό της ματς ίσως το τελευταίο δίμηνο και να κερδίζει με 2-0 σετ (6-4, 6-4 σε 1 ώρα και 35 λεπτά).

Η Μαρία παρά το γεμάτο πρώτο σετ, ήταν εντυπωσιακή καθώς έχασε μόνο 4 πόντους και τους τρεις από αυτούς από δικά της λάθη (δύο διπλά στο σερβίς του πρώτου γκέιμ που σέρβιρε και ένα αβίαστο στα μισά του σετ), ενώ η δική της πίεση ήταν αυτή που έφερε το break το οποίο της έδωσε και τον απόλυτο έλεγχο. Επί της ουσίας το 6-4 ίσως να... αδικεί και την εμφάνισή της που ήταν εξαιρετική.

Στο δεύτερο, όπου χρειάστηκε να αντιδράσει το έκανε. Μία στο 0-40 που ήταν τριπλό break point για την Ολλανδέζα και άλλη μία μετά το προβάδισμα που πήρε η αντίπαλός της με 3-2 καθώς έκανε break στο 3-3 (το... χαρτάκι του Τομ Χιλ με οδηγίες φαίνεται πως έπαιξε τον ρόλο του). Εφτασε εύκολα στο 5-3 και στη νίκη εν τέλει, περιμένωντας μία εκ των Βέκιτς και Μασάροβα στον τρίτο γύρο.

Τα έκανε όλα σωστά η Σάκκαρη και έφτασε στο 1-0

Η Ρους ξεκίνησε με το δεξί τα service game της στο ματς, με την Σάκκαρη ωστόσο να ισοφαρίζει σε 1-1, παρά τα δύο διπλά λάθη που έκανε στο σερβίς. Η Ολλανδέζα διατήρησε το προβάδισμα κυρίως χάρη στο σερβίς της και τις χαμένες επιστροφές σε δύο περιπτώσεις της Μαρίας.

Αφού η Σάκκαρη κράτησε το σερβίς της, έφτασε και στο πρώτο break του ματς, το οποίο ήρθε χάρη στα εξαιρετικά της χτυπήματα, τα οποία ανάγκασαν σε συνεχόμενα λάθη την αντίπαλό της από την baseline.

Μετά από ένα άνετο 4-2 (love game) βρήκε εκ νέου break point,ωστόσο η λόμπα της ήταν εκτός βασικής γραμμής, με την Ρους να καταφέρνει τελικά να κρατήσει το σερβίς της και να μειώνει σε 4-3.

Με ένα ακόμη εντυπωσιακό game (3 winners) η Ελληνίδα τενίστρια έφτασε στο 5-3, με την Ρους να κερδίζει το πρώτο της εύκολο game για να μείνει στο σετ (5-4). Η Σάκκαρη όμως τελείωσε το σετ αμέσως μετά, κλείνοντάς το με τρίτο love game, με το εντυπωσιακό 12/13 σε κερδισμένους πόντους από πρώτο σερβίς.

Το σημειωματάριο του Χιλ έδωσε λύσεις στην Σάκκαρη που έκανε το 2-0

Με το «καλημέρα» η Σάκκαρη έκανε break αξιοποιώντας την 4η από τις ευκαιρίες που είχε για να σπάσει το σερβίς της αντιπάλου της. Η Ρους για πρώτη φορά στο ματς βρέθηκε με break point και μάλιστα τριπλό στο 0-40, όμως η Μαρία έπαιξε εξαιρετικά και με πέντε συνεχόμενους πόντους κράτησε το σερβίς της για το 2-0.

Η Ολλανδέζα μείωσε σε 2-1 και αμέσως μετά έκανε το πρώτο της break στο ματς αν και ήταν 30-0 κάτω. Πήρε και προβάδισμα με 3-2 χάρη σε ένα αχρείαστο λάθος της Σάκκαρη σε έναν πόντο που ήταν όλος δικός της, αλλά σημάδεψε φιλέ.

Στο change ο Τομ Χιλ έδωσε ένα... σημειωματάριο στην Σάκκαρη προκειμένου να αλλάξει ορισμένα πράγματα. Με δύο άσους ισοφάρισε σε 3-3 και ακολούθησε το break με την βοήθεια του φιλέ (και λάθος της Ρους μαζί) για να πάρει εκ νέου το προβάδισμα με 4-3 και δικό της σερβίς.

Στο 5-3 η Ρους μείωσε, αλλά η Σάκκαρη έκλεισε το παιχνίδι στο δικό της σερβίς αμέσως μετά με... περιπέτεια, αφού το δικό της match point έγινε break point (τρεις φορές μάλιστα) για την Ρους, αλλά έβγαλε αντίδραση και το τελείωσε.

Πριν γλιτώσει το τρίτο break point ωστόσο, είχε έναν έντονο διάλογο με την διαιτητή για ένα σερβίς της το οποίο δόθηκε άουτ, λέγοντάς της πως κοιτούσε λάθος σημάδι. Παρά την ένταση της στιγμής (δεν πήγε να χαιρετήσει την διαιτητή μάλιστα), δεν έχασε την αυτοσυγκέντρωσή της και πήρε το game και τη νίκη.
