Stefanos Tsitsipas was defeated by Borna Coric in 2-1 sets and was out of the quarter-finals at the Vienna Open.

Stefanos Tsitsipas could not advance to the Vienna Open, after two hours and 43 minutes he lost to Borna Coric 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(4) and was eliminated from the quarterfinals of the tournament.

In a game decided on a 3rd set tie break, Coric was more composed at the crucial point, cruising to his 3rd overall win in four games against the Greek player, whom he also beat in the Cincinnati Masters final in August.

Tsitsipas vanguard with the 5th opportunity

Tsitsipas took the opening game and immediately after wasted three break opportunities (1-1).

Tsitsipas made it 3-2 with a love game, Tsoric responded with the same coin (3-3), with Tsitsipas leading 5-4. In the 10th game, the 24-year-old Greek led 0-40, but Tsorits "erased" the three set points, just like in the 4th, in the first Tsitsipas advantage, but not in the next one, with the set closing at 6-4.

The decisive break and 1-1

The 2nd set followed the same pattern, with Tsitsipas starting with a love game, leading 2-0, Coric returning (2-2) and the battle continuing.

Coric erased a new break point in the 6th game (3-3), with Tsitsipas holding the lead (4-3). The Croat equalized 4-4 and finding a break led 5-4 and took the set 6-4 with a love game.

Lose on tie break

The battle culminated in the 3rd set. Tsitsipas again at 1-0, with successive love games it became 2-1 and Tsorits equalized 2-2.

In the 5th game, Tsitsipas found himself at 0-40, but he stayed alive (40-40), but with a mistake in the drop shot, he gave Tsorits the opportunity to make the break (3-2).

But he reacted, on the 3rd opportunity he responded with a break (3-3) and, holding his serve, went ahead 4-3.

From there the players holding their serve led the set to the tie break. There, Coric achieved a mini break for 3-2, holding his serve to go to 5-2, Tsitsipas reduced to 5-4, but the Croatian with the first match point secured the victory-qualification.

Ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς ηττήθηκε από τον Μπόρνα Τσόριτς με 2-1 σετ και έμεινε εκτός της προημιτελικής φάση στο Όπεν της Βιέννης.

Ο Στέφανος Τσιτσιπάς δεν μπόρεσε να προχωρήσει στο Όπεν της Βιέννης, έπειτα από δύο ώρες και 43 λεπτά γνώρισε την ήττα από τον Μπόρνα Τσόριτς με 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(4) και αποκλείστηκε από τα προημιτελικά του τουρνουά.

Σε ένα παιχίδι που κρίθηκε στο tie break του 3ου σετ, ο Τσόριτς ήταν πιο ψύχραιμο στο κρίσιμο σημείο, φθάνοντας στην 3η συνολικά νίκη του σε τέσσερα παιχνίδια απέναντι στον Έλληνα παίκτη, τον οποίο τον Αύγουστο νίκησε και στον τελικό του Masters στο Σινσινάτι.

Πρωτοπορία Τσιτσιπά με την 5η ευκαιρία

Ο Τσιτσιπάς πήρε το εναρκτήριο game και αμέσως μετά σπατάλησε τρεις ευκαιρίες για break (1-1).

Με love game ο Τσιτσιπάς έκανε το 3-2, ο Τσόριτς απάντησε με το ίδιο νόμισμα (3-3), με τον Τσιτσιπά να προηγείται με 5-4. Στο 10ο game o 24χρονος Έλληνας προηγήθηκε 0-40, όμως ο Τσόριτς «έσβησε» τα τρία set points, όπως και το 4ο, στο πρώτο αβαντάζ Τσιτσιπά, όχι όμως και στο επόμενο, με το σετ να κλείνει στο 6-4.

Το καθοριστικό break και το 1-1

Στο ίδιο μοτίβο κύλησε και το 2ο σετ, με τον Τσιτσιπά να ξεκινά με love game, να προηγείται 2-0, τον Τσόριτς να επιστρέφει (2-2) και η μάχη να συνεχίζεται.

Ο Τσόριτς έσβησε νέο πόντο για break στο 6ο game (3-3), με τον Τσιτσιπά να κρατά το προβάδισμα (4-3). Ο Κροάτης ισοφάρισε 4-4 και βρίσκοντας break προηγήθηκε 5-4 και με love game πήρε το σετ με 6-4.

Ήττα στο tie break

Η μάχη κορυφώθηκε στο 3ο σετ. Ξανά στο 1-0 ο Τσιτσιπάς, με διαδοχικά love games έγινε το 2-1 και τον Τσόριτς να ισοφαρίζει 2-2.

Στο 5ο game ο Τσιτσιπάς βρέθηκε στο 0-40, αλλά έμεινε ζωντανός (40-40), όμως με λάθος στο drop shot έδωσε την ευκαιρία στον Τσόριτς να κάνει το break (3-2).

Όμως έβγαλε αντίδραση, με την 3η ευκαιρία απάντησε με break (3-3) και κρατώντας το σερβίς του, προσπέρασε 4-3.

Από εκεί και έπειτα οι παίκτες κρατώντας το σερβίς τους, οδήγησαν το σετ στο τάι μπρέικ. Εκεί ο Τσόριτς πέτυχε mini break για το 3-2, κρατώντας τα σερβίς του πήγε στο 5-2, ο Τσιτσιπάς μείωσε σε 5-4, αλλά ο Κροάτης με το πρώτο match point εξασφάλισε τη νίκη-πρόκριση.
