Κανονικά συμμετέχει στην αποστολή της εθνικής Βελγίου για το Μουντιάλ ο Ρομέλου Λουκάκου, παρά την αγωνία που υπήρξε εξαιτίας του νέου τραυματισμού που είχε αποκομίσει.

Μπορεί τα τελευταία 24ωρα να μην υπήρχε μεγάλη αισιοδοξία για την συμμετοχή του Βέλγου επιθετικού στην ομάδα που θα ταξιδέψει στο Κατάρ για το Μουντιάλ, ωστόσο ο Λουκάκου έκανε τελικά την ανατροπή και βρέθηκε κανονικά στις επιλογές του Ρομπέρτο Μαρτίνεθ. Ωστόσο είναι άγνωστο αν θα καταφέρει να αγωνιστεί κανονικά από την πρεμιέρα.

Από κει δεν έλειψε ούτε ο Εντέν Αζάρ, παρ' ότι φέτος έχει αγωνιστεί μόλις σε έξι παιχνίδια για την Ρεάλ Μαδρίτης και συνολικά για 229 αγωνιστικά λεπτά. Παρόντες και οι υπόλοιποι μεγάλοι σταρ της ομάδας, Ντε Μπρούινε, Καράσκο, Τίλεμανς και Κουρτουά.

Μάλιστα, οι Βέλγοι επέλεξαν και κάποιους παίκτες που θα είναι «alert» για να ενσωματωθούν στην αποστολή σε περίπτωση που υπάρξει κάποια απώλεια μέχρι την έναρξη της διοργάνωσης. Αυτοί είναι οι Μπριάν Ενέν, Αλεσίς Σαλεμάκερς, Ντόντι Λουκεμπάκιο και Τζέισον Ντεναγιέρ.
