F1 - Buriram Testing: Bezzecchi Fastest with New Track Record

Aprilia's Marco Bezzecchi was the star of the MotoGP testing in Buriram, Thailand, recording the fastest time.

The finale of the 2026 MotoGP winter testing in Buriram was intense, a record and a clear message of power from Aprilia. Marco Bezzecchi in the last minutes of the process achieved a time of 1:28.668 and broke the absolute track record, closing the winter season for the Italian team in the most emphatically way.

The Italian's effort came 20 minutes before the chequered flag, with the factory RS-GP showing excellent stability and performance at the absolute limit.

New record and upset at the top

Bezeki "dethroned" world champion Marc Marquez, who until then held the top spot with a 1:28.836.

The Italian's 1:28.668 was even faster than the official track record (1:28.700), set by Peko Banyaia on his way to pole position at the 2024 Thailand Grand Prix.

In the final minutes, Aprilia "locked in" the 1-2, as Trackhouse's Raul Fernandez moved up to second with a 1:28.765, leaving Marquez in 3rd place in the standings.

Fall and medical centre for Marquez

Marquez was in control for much of the day, but in the finale he crashed at Turn 3 — his third of the three-day event. The Spaniard made a precautionary visit to the medical centre, although it was not clear whether the visit was directly related to the crash or to stomach problems that had been bothering him all weekend. However, he returned to the track in the final hour of the session, finishing the day in third place. His team-mate, Bagnaia, finished fourth, confirming Ducati's consistent performance throughout the test. Alex Marquez finished fifth on Gresini, despite crashing late in the session.

Pedro Acosta was the fastest KTM rider in sixth, with Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Gianandonio of VR46 finishing seventh and ninth respectively, with Jorge Martin in eighth on an Aprilia. Joan Mir rounded out the top ten on the factory Honda.

Yamaha in trouble

Yamaha continued to struggle. Jack Miller, on the best of the V4-powered M1s, was 16th, more than a second off the top.

Ducati test rider Michele Pirro, who replaced the injured Fermin Aldeguer at Gresini, rounded out the standings.

Ready for the premiere

MotoGP teams now turn their attention to the start of the season. The first race of the 2026 season will be held in Buriram on March 1st and based on what the test showed, Aprilia has already sent a clear message.

Το φινάλε των χειμερινών δοκιμών του MotoGP για το 2026 στη Μπουριράμ είχε ένταση, ρεκόρ και ξεκάθαρο μήνυμα ισχύος από την Aprilia. Ο Μάρκο Μπεζέκι στα τελευταία λεπτά της διαδικασίας πέτυχε χρόνο 1:28,668 και κατέρριψε το απόλυτο ρεκόρ της πίστας, κλείνοντας με τον πιο εμφατικό τρόπο την χειμερινή περίοδο για την ιταλική ομάδα.

Η προσπάθεια του Ιταλού ήρθε 20 λεπτά πριν από την καρό σημαία, με την εργοστασιακή RS-GP να δείχνει εξαιρετική σταθερότητα και απόδοση στο απόλυτο όριο.

Νέο ρεκόρ και ανατροπή στην κορυφή

Ο Μπεζέκι «εκθρόνισε» τον παγκόσμιο πρωταθλητή Μαρκ Μάρκεθ, ο οποίος μέχρι εκείνη τη στιγμή κρατούσε την πρώτη θέση με 1:28.836.

Το 1:28,668 του Ιταλού ήταν ταχύτερο ακόμη και από το επίσημο ρεκόρ πίστας (1:28,700), που είχε σημειώσει ο Πέκο Μπανιάια στον δρόμο προς την pole position στο Grand Prix Ταϊλάνδης 2024.

Στα τελευταία λεπτά, η Aprilia «κλείδωσε» το 1-2, καθώς ο Ραούλ Φερνάντεθ της Trackhouse ανέβηκε δεύτερος με 1:28.765, αφήνοντας τον Μάρκεθ 3ο στην κατάταξη.

Πτώση και ιατρικό κέντρο για τον Μάρκεθ

Ο Μάρκεθ είχε τον έλεγχο για μεγάλο μέρος της ημέρας, όμως στο φινάλε είχε πτώση στη Στροφή 3 — την τρίτη του για το τριήμερο. Ο Ισπανός επισκέφθηκε προληπτικά το ιατρικό κέντρο, χωρίς να έχει διευκρινιστεί αν η επίσκεψη σχετιζόταν άμεσα με την πτώση ή με στομαχικές ενοχλήσεις που τον ταλαιπωρούσαν όλο το Σαββατοκύριακο. Παρόλα αυτά, επέστρεψε στην πίστα την τελευταία ώρα της διαδικασίας, ολοκληρώνοντας την ημέρα στην τρίτη θέση. Ο team-mate του, Μπανιάια, ολοκλήρωσε τέταρτος, επιβεβαιώνοντας τη σταθερή εικόνα της Ducati στο σύνολο των δοκιμών. Ο Άλεξ Μάρκεθ ολοκλήρωσε πέμπτος με τη Gresini, παρότι είχε πτώση αργά στη διαδικασία.

Ο Πέδρο Ακόστα ήταν ο ταχύτερος αναβάτης της KTM στην έκτη θέση, με τους Φράνκο Μορμπιντέλι και Φάμπιο Ντι Τζιαναντόνιο της VR46 να τερματίζουν έβδομος και ένατος αντίστοιχα, με τον Χόρχε Μαρτίν να παρεμβάλλεται όγδοος με Aprilia. Τη δεκάδα έκλεισε ο Τζοαν Μιρ με την εργοστασιακή Honda.

Προβληματισμός για Yamaha

Η Yamaha συνέχισε να αντιμετωπίζει δυσκολίες. Ο Τζακ Μίλερ, στην καλύτερη από τις V4-powered M1, κατετάγη 16ος, πάνω από ένα δευτερόλεπτο μακριά από την κορυφή.

Την κατάταξη έκλεισε ο δοκιμαστής της Ducati, Μικέλε Πίρο, ο οποίος αντικατέστησε τον τραυματία Φερμίν Αλντεγκέρ στη Gresini.

Έτοιμοι για την πρεμιέρα

Πλέον οι ομάδες του MotoGP στρέφουν την προσοχή τους στο ξεκίνημα της χρονιάς. Ο πρώτος αγώνας της σεζόν 2026 θα διεξαχθεί στο Μπουριράμ την 1η Μαρτίου και με βάση όσα έδειξε το τεστ, η Aprilia έχει ήδη στείλει ξεκάθαρο μήνυμα.
