Sevilla to appeal to CAS over Matias Almeyda's punishment
Sevilla is willing to do everything to reduce Matias Almeyda's punishment, with the Andalusian club preparing to appeal to CAS.
Matias Almeyda was severely punished for what happened in Sevilla's match against Alaves last week, as he was given a seven-match ban.
The Andalusian club, however, is willing to support its coach until the end and is doing everything it can to reduce the punishment of the former AEK coach, after the rejection of the Appeals Committee, which on Friday (20/02) ruled that none of the arguments presented by the club's legal team were convincing enough and thus did not proceed with the suspension of the sentence.

Now, as reported by the Spanish newspaper "Marca", Sevilla will initially appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and will try to secure a temporary suspension of the punishment for the remaining matches, starting with the derby against Betis at "La Cartuja" on Sunday, March 1, while after that, only the regular courts will remain.
We remind you that the club already stated in a press release, when the seven-match penalty for the Argentine coach was made official, that it "respects the sports legal bodies and their decisions, but will use all available means to defend its legal rights and those of its coach".
“Sevilla, after being informed of the seven-match ban imposed by the Competition Committee on our coach, Matias Almeida, for his dismissal in the match against Alaves, wishes to state the following:
Its full support for our coach in the face of a penalty that we consider excessive. That it shares the regret and apology that the coach himself expressed after the match for his reaction. That the club’s legal department will exhaust all available means to appeal a sanction that it considers disproportionate, both in terms of the number of matches and the characterization of the events. Sevilla FC respects the sports bodies and their decisions, but will use all the means at its disposal to defend its legal rights and those of its coach.”

Η Σεβίλλη είναι διατεθιμένη να κάνει τα πάντα ώστε να μειώσει την ποινή του Ματίας Αλμέιδα, με τον σύλλογο από την Ανδαλουσία να ετοιμάζεται να προσφυγει στο CAS.
Ο Ματίας Αλμέιδα τιμωρήθηκε αυστηρά για τα όσα διαδραματίστηκαν στον αγώνα της Σεβίλλης κόντρα στην Αλαβές την προηγούμενη εβδομάδα, καθώς του επιβλήθηκε ποινή αποκλεισμού επτά αγώνων.
Ο σύλλογος απο την Ανδαλουσία όμως, είναι διατεθιμένος να στηρίξει μέχρι τέλους τον προπονητή του και κάνει ότι μπορεί, ώστε να μειωθεί η τιμωρία του πρώην τεχνικού της ΑΕΚ, μετά και από την απόρριψη της Επιτροπής Εφέσεων, η οποία την Παρασκευή (20/02) έκρινε πως κανένα από τα επιχειρήματα που παρουσίασε η νομική ομάδα του συλλόγου δεν ήταν αρκετά πειστικό και έτσι δεν προχώρησε στην αναστολή της ποινής.

Τώρα, όπως αναφέρει δημοσίευμα της ισπανικής εφημερίδας «Marca», η Σεβίλλη θα προσφύγει αρχικά στο Διαιτητικό Αθλητικό Δικαστήριο (CAS) και θα προσπαθήσει να εξασφαλίσει προσωρινή αναστολή της τιμωρίας για τους υπόλοιπους αγώνες, αρχής γενομένης από το ντέρμπι εναντίον της Μπέτις στο «Λα Καρτούχα» την Κυριακή 1 Μαρτίου, ενώ μετά και από αυτό, θα απομείνουν μόνο τα τακτικά δικαστήρια.
Θυμίζουμε ότι ο σύλλογος δήλωσε ήδη σε δελτίο τύπου, όταν επισημοποιήθηκε η ποινή επτά αγωνιστικών στον Αργεντίνο προπονητή, ότι «σέβεται τα αθλητικά νομικά όργανα και τις αποφάσεις τους, αλλά θα χρησιμοποιήσει όλα τα διαθέσιμα μέσα για να υπερασπιστεί τα νόμιμα δικαιώματά του και αυτά του προπονητή του».
«Η Σεβίλλη, μετά την ενημέρωση για την τιμωρία επτά αγωνιστικών που επέβαλε η Επιτροπή Αγώνων στον προπονητή μας, Ματίας Αλμέιδα, για την αποβολή του στον αγώνα με την Αλαβές, επιθυμεί να δηλώσει τα εξής:
Την απόλυτη υποστήριξή της στον προπονητή μας απέναντι σε μια ποινή που θεωρούμε υπερβολική. Ότι συμμερίζεται τη λύπη και τη συγγνώμη που εξέφρασε ο ίδιος ο προπονητής μετά τον αγώνα για την αντίδρασή του. Ότι το νομικό τμήμα του συλλόγου θα εξαντλήσει όλα τα διαθέσιμα μέσα για να ασκήσει έφεση κατά μιας κύρωσης που θεωρεί δυσανάλογη, τόσο ως προς τον αριθμό των αγωνιστικών όσο και ως προς τον χαρακτηρισμό των γεγονότων. Η Σεβίλλη FC σέβεται τους αθλητικούς φορείς και τις αποφάσεις τους, αλλά θα χρησιμοποιήσει όλα τα μέσα που διαθέτει για να υπερασπιστεί τα νόμιμα δικαιώματά της και αυτά του προπονητή της».
