Olympiacos ONEX may have been defeated by Apeldoorn in the Netherlands, in the second match of the two teams in the round of 32 of the CEV Cup, but they won the two sets they needed and qualified for the round of 16.

The "red and white" needed to win two sets at the home of the Dutch Apeldoorn to secure qualification to the next phase, which they achieved without any problems, despite the fact that in the end they suffered a 3-2 defeat.

The Piraeus team entered the match focused and took control, winning the first set 25-16. In the second set, despite the greater resistance of the home team, Olympiacos showed composure at crucial points and won it 26-24, a result that "sealed" its qualification, with the remaining sets being procedural in nature.

In the next phase of the competition, Olympiacos will face Karlovy Vary from the Czech Republic, which qualified for the "16" after two victories against Milonas.

The first match against Karlovy Vary will be held at "M. Merkouri" in Rentis, while the rematch is scheduled in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic.

The match

With a dominant block and Perin as the protagonist at the start, the "red and white" did not need more than 20 minutes to take a 0-1 lead, winning the first set 25-16 and recording six blocks.

The second set proved to be more demanding, with the hosts increasing the pressure and reaching a double bowl set (24-22). There, however, Antonis Vourderis' team took advantage of Apeldoorn's mistakes, got crucial points against Perin and with a decisive block by Pitakoudis, they "ran" a 4-0 series, reaching 24-26 and 0-2, which gave them the qualification.

After securing qualification, the game became a procedural affair for Olympiacos, without this meaning that Apeldoorn gave up the effort. The Dutch showed determination and competitive ego, claiming everything they could until the end. The third set evolved into another balanced battle, with the home team increasing their performance from the middle onwards. Apeldoorn led several times by two and three points, reaching 22-20, but Olympiacos reacted and tied the game at 24-24, claiming another “clean” victory. Ultimately, the home team took the next two points and won the set 26-24, reducing the deficit to 2-1.

It is worth noting that from the point where the score became 0-2, Apeldoorn continued with its basic formation, unlike Olympiacos who proceeded to rotation, having already “locked” their qualification. In the fourth set, the Dutch took advantage of this situation, fully imposed their rhythm and comfortably prevailed with 25-12, bringing the game to a draw (2-2) and leading the match to a tie break. In the fifth and decisive set, Apeldoorn entered better and maintained an early lead, reaching +4 (9-5). Olympiacos reacted, reduced the difference and equalized at crucial points, even managing to take the lead for the first time with 12-11. The set turned into a real thriller, with both teams going point by point until 13-13. The “red and white” team reached the match point first, but the home team responded, took their own chance and finally closed the tie break with 16-14, winning the prestigious victory with 3-2 sets, with the qualification however belonging to Olympiacos.

Ο Ολυμπιακός ONEX μπορεί να ηττήθηκε με 3-2 σετ από την Άπελντοορν στην Ολλανδία, στο πλαίσιο του δεύτερου αγώνα των δύο ομάδων στη φάση των «32» του CEV Cup, ωστόσο κατέκτησε τα δύο σετ που χρειαζόταν και προκρίθηκε στους «16».

Οι «ερυθρόλευκοι» χρειάζονταν να κατακτήσουν δύο σετ στην έδρα της ολλανδικής Άπελντοορν για να εξασφαλίσουν την πρόκριση στην επόμενη φάση, κάτι που πέτυχαν χωρίς πρόβλημα, παρά το γεγονός ότι στο τέλος γνώρισαν την ήττα με 3-2 σετ.

Η ομάδα του Πειραιά μπήκε συγκεντρωμένα στον αγώνα και πήρε τον έλεγχο, κατακτώντας το πρώτο σετ με 25-16. Στο δεύτερο σετ, παρά τη μεγαλύτερη αντίσταση των γηπεδούχων, ο Ολυμπιακός έδειξε ψυχραιμία στα κρίσιμα σημεία και το κατέκτησε με 26-24, αποτέλεσμα που του «σφράγισε» την πρόκριση, με τα υπόλοιπα σετ να έχουν διαδικαστικό χαρακτήρα.

Στην επόμενη φάση της διοργάνωσης, ο Ολυμπιακός θα τεθεί αντιμέτωπος με την Καρλοβάρσκο από την Τσεχία, η οποία προκρίθηκε στους «16» μετά από δύο νίκες απέναντι στον Μίλωνα.

Η πρώτη αναμέτρηση με την Καρλοβάρσκο θα διεξαχθεί στο «Μ. Μερκούρη» του Ρέντη, ενώ ο επαναληπτικός αγώνας είναι προγραμματισμένος στο Κάρλοβι Βάρι της Τσεχίας.

Το ματς

Με κυριαρχία στο μπλοκ και πρωταγωνιστή τον Πέριν στο ξεκίνημα, οι «ερυθρόλευκοι» δεν χρειάστηκαν περισσότερο από 20 λεπτά για να προηγηθούν με 0-1, παίρνοντας το πρώτο σετ με 25-16 και καταγράφοντας έξι μπλοκ.

Το δεύτερο σετ αποδείχθηκε πιο απαιτητικό, με τους γηπεδούχους να ανεβάζουν την πίεση και να φτάνουν σε διπλό σετ μπολ (24-22). Εκεί, όμως, η ομάδα του Αντώνη Βουρδέρη εκμεταλλεύτηκε τα λάθη της Άπελντοορν, πήρε κρίσιμους πόντους στην κόντρα με τον Πέριν και με καθοριστικό μπλοκ του Πιτακούδη «έτρεξε» σερί 4-0, φτάνοντας στο 24-26 και στο 0-2 που έδωσε την πρόκριση.

Μετά την εξασφάλιση της πρόκρισης, το παιχνίδι απέκτησε διαδικαστικό χαρακτήρα για τον Ολυμπιακό, χωρίς αυτό να σημαίνει ότι η Άπελντοορν εγκατέλειψε την προσπάθεια. Οι Ολλανδοί έδειξαν διάθεση και αγωνιστικό εγωισμό, διεκδικώντας ό,τι μπορούσαν μέχρι το τέλος. Το τρίτο σετ εξελίχθηκε σε μια ακόμη ισορροπημένη μάχη, με τους γηπεδούχους να ανεβάζουν την απόδοσή τους από τα μέσα και μετά. Η Άπελντοορν προηγήθηκε αρκετές φορές με διαφορές δύο και τριών πόντων, φτάνοντας στο 22-20, όμως ο Ολυμπιακός αντέδρασε και ισοφάρισε σε 24-24, διεκδικώντας μία ακόμη «καθαρή» νίκη. Τελικά, οι γηπεδούχοι πήραν τους δύο επόμενους πόντους και κατέκτησαν το σετ με 26-24, μειώνοντας σε 2-1.

Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι από το σημείο που το σκορ έγινε 0-2, η Άπελντοορν συνέχισε με το βασικό της σχήμα, σε αντίθεση με τον Ολυμπιακό που προχώρησε σε ροτέισον, έχοντας ήδη «κλειδώσει» την πρόκριση. Στο τέταρτο σετ, οι Ολλανδοί εκμεταλλεύτηκαν αυτή την κατάσταση, επέβαλαν πλήρως τον ρυθμό τους και επικράτησαν άνετα με 25-12, φέρνοντας το παιχνίδι στα ίσα (2-2) και οδηγώντας το ματς στο tie break.

Στο πέμπτο και καθοριστικό σετ, η Άπελντοορν μπήκε καλύτερα και διατήρησε προβάδισμα από νωρίς, φτάνοντας στο +4 (9-5). Ο Ολυμπιακός αντέδρασε, μείωσε τη διαφορά και ισοφάρισε σε κρίσιμα σημεία, καταφέρνοντας μάλιστα να προηγηθεί για πρώτη φορά με 12-11. Το σετ εξελίχθηκε σε πραγματικό θρίλερ, με τις δύο ομάδες να πηγαίνουν πόντο-πόντο έως το 13-13. Οι «ερυθρόλευκοι» έφτασαν πρώτοι σε match ball, όμως οι γηπεδούχοι απάντησαν, πήραν τη δική τους ευκαιρία και τελικά έκλεισαν το tie break με 16-14, κατακτώντας τη νίκη γοήτρου με 3-2 σετ, με την πρόκριση ωστόσο να ανήκει στον Ολυμπιακό.
