Panionios Betsson put on an excellent performance and defeated Eskimo 3-0 in a packed “Andreas Varikas”, easily securing their place in the quarterfinals of the CEV Challenge Cup.

Dragan Nesic’s team had already laid a solid foundation for qualification from the first match in Seville, where they had won 3-0, and in Nea Smyrni they completed the job by winning the sets they needed to “seal” their place in the last eight of the competition with ease.

Despite the absence of captain Ioanna Karelia, who remained out due to an injury she sustained in the previous European game, Panionios put on a serious and focused performance and took the victory.

In the next phase, Panionios Betsson will face Olympiada Neapolis, which qualified by eliminating Ostrava with two wins (3-0, 3-2).

The match

The "Historic" entered the first set with an impressive pace and built a significant difference early on, leading 20-12. Despite the counterattack of Eskimo, which tied the score at 23-23 and put pressure on the finale, the team from Nea Smyrni showed character and took the set 26-24.

The second set was more balanced, with the two teams keeping up with the score for most of its duration. However, Panionios Betsson was more decisive at crucial points and with a series of points at the end "cleaned up" the set 25-17, sealing the big qualification and continuing its European journey.

In the third set, with confidence soaring, Panionios came in just as dynamically and quickly took the lead with 6-2 and 12-5. Eskimo tried to react, but the “blue-reds” did not allow the reversal, opened the gap again (18-11, 22-14) and reached the final 25-16, completing the match with an emphatic 3-0 set.

Ο Πανιώνιος Betsson παρουσίασε εξαιρετικό πρόσωπο και επικράτησε με 3-0 σετ της Εσκίμο στο κατάμεστο «Ανδρέας Βαρίκας», εξασφαλίζοντας με άνεση την πρόκριση στα προημιτελικά του CEV Challenge Cup.

Η ομάδα του Ντράγκαν Νέσιτς είχε ήδη βάλει γερές βάσεις πρόκρισης από τον πρώτο αγώνα στη Σεβίλλη, όπου είχε επικρατήσει με 3-0 σετ, και στη Νέα Σμύρνη ολοκλήρωσε τη δουλειά κατακτώντας τα σετ που χρειαζόταν για να «σφραγίσει» την πρόκριση στην οκτάδα της διοργάνωσης με άνεση.

Παρά την απουσία της αρχηγού, Ιωάννας Καρέλια, η οποία παρέμεινε εκτός λόγω τραυματισμού που αποκόμισε στο προηγούμενο ευρωπαϊκό παιχνίδι, ο Πανιώνιος παρουσίασε σοβαρό και συγκεντρωμένο πρόσωπο και πήρε τη νίκη.

Στην επόμενη φάση, ο Πανιώνιος Betsson θα βρει απέναντί του την Ολυμπιάδα Νεάπολης, η οποία πήρε την πρόκριση αποκλείοντας την Οστράβα με δύο νίκες (3-0, 3-2).

Στο τρίτο σετ, με την αυτοπεποίθηση στα ύψη, ο Πανιώνιος μπήκε εξίσου δυναμικά και προηγήθηκε γρήγορα με 6-2 και 12-5. Η Εσκίμο προσπάθησε να αντιδράσει, όμως οι «κυανέρυθρες» δεν επέτρεψαν την ανατροπή, άνοιξαν ξανά τη διαφορά (18-11, 22-14) και έφτασαν στο τελικό 25-16, ολοκληρώνοντας τον αγώνα με εμφατικό 3-0 σετ.
