Paqueta: Case closed but reprimanded for failing to cooperate with authorities
Paqueta's case over the match-fixing scandal has been closed, with him cleared but cautioned for failing to cooperate with the investigation.
According to Ben Jacobs, Lucas Paqueta's case has been closed, but the West Ham midfielder has been cautioned for his conduct during the investigation.
An independent regulatory panel has found two breaches of FA Regulation F3, as Paqueta failed to fully answer questions and provide all necessary information during an investigation into alleged breaches of betting rules. The player has repeatedly stated that he would not comment on two separate interviews.
The committee also considered imposing a fine, but decided that it was not appropriate, as Paqueta acted on the advice of his lawyers, had no legal training and a limited understanding of the English language. In addition, it was considered that he had lost out financially on a potential transfer to Manchester City and had suffered psychological pressure from this investigation.
If the charges against him had been proven, his career would have certainly been over because his case was particularly serious and could lead to his lifelong ban from football.

Η υπόθεση του Πακέτα για τις στημένες κίτρινες έκλεισε οριστικά, με τον ίδιο να αθωώνεται αλλά να λαμβάνει προειδοποίηση λόγω περιορισμένης συνεργασίας στην έρευνα.
Σύμφωνα με τον Μπεν Τζέικομπς, η υπόθεση του Λούκας Πακετά έκλεισε οριστικά, ωστόσο ο Βραζιλιάνος μέσος της Γουέστ Χαμ έλαβε προειδοποίηση για τη συμπεριφορά του κατά τη διάρκεια της έρευνας.
Μία ανεξάρτητη ρυθμιστική επιτροπή διαπίστωσε δύο παραβάσεις του Κανονισμού F3 της FA, καθώς ο Πακετά δεν απάντησε πλήρως σε ερωτήσεις και δεν παρείχε όλες τις απαραίτητες πληροφορίες κατά τη διάρκεια της έρευνας για υποτιθέμενες παραβάσεις στοιχηματικών κανόνων. Σημειώνεται ότι ο παίκτης δήλωσε επανειλημμένα ότι δε θα έκανε κανένα σχόλιο σε δύο ανακρίσεις που του έγιναν.
Η επιτροπή εξέτασε και την επιβολή προστίμου, αλλά αποφάσισε ότι δεν ήταν σκόπιμο, καθώς ο Πακετά ενήργησε σύμφωνα με τις συμβουλές των δικηγόρων του, δεν είχε νομική εκπαίδευση και περιορισμένη κατανόηση της αγγλικής γλώσσας. Επιπλέον, κρίθηκε ότι είχε χάσει οικονομικά από πιθανή μεταγραφή στη Μάντσεστερ Σίτι και είχε υποστεί ψυχολογική πίεση από την έρευνα αυτή.
Εάν οι κατηγορίες που του αποδίδονταν είχαν αποδειχθεί, η καριέρα του θα είχε σίγουρα τελειώσει επειδή η υπόθεσή του ήταν ιδιαίτερα σοβαρή και θα μπορούσε να οδηγήσει στον δια βίου αποκλεισμό του από το ποδόσφαιρο.
