Angelopoulos on SUNEL Arena: "We are now investing in the spectator experience - The idea is unique worldwide"

Makis Angelopoulos spoke about the investments that have been made, and those that will be made, in "SUNEL Arena".

On Monday, May 26, the inauguration of the Legends Suites of "SUNEL Arena" took place for AEK Betsson.

In this context, the administrative leader of the Union, Makis Angelopoulos, gave a press conference in the "Phaedon Konstantoudakis" hall and spoke about the great progress at the team's headquarters but also about what is... coming.

It is recalled that the VIP Suites have been named after the members of the emblematic starting five of the "Queen" of 1968 (Georgos Americanos, George Trontzos, Christos Zoupas, Stelios Vasiliadis, Aias Larentzakis), the late George Moschos, Minas Gekkos, as well as the Union's top coach, Dragan Sakota.

In detail, what Makis Angelopoulos said:

"When we play, we will tell our story. You all remember the line from the movie. This line is the motto that governs the entire team. Most importantly, because it connects the past with the present and the future. We have taken important actions to highlight history. We did activities for the first Final 4 that the team participated in in 1966, we made a film about the 1968 epic. We retired the jersey with the name of George Americanos, George Trontzos. The veterans' hall is named after Nikos Babanikolos.

This administration honors history. This team had significant gaps. There was no consistency and continuity in terms of competition. Another reason was that there was no connection with history and there were gaps. Another reason was the lack of a stadium. In its 100-year history, AEK has played in 16 different stadiums, officially. This created a problem in connecting people with the team. The investments we are making are important, as we gave the names of the suites to the history of AEK, as there is a connection between the past and the present and the future. We do not forget this.

We have completed the infrastructure part of the stadium and will emphasize the experience part, the appearance part. It was important to complete the infrastructure. Now we will invest in the spectator experience part by creating a destination centered on basketball on and off the court. A family destination will be a unique idea worldwide. We thank Sunel for supporting this effort. The best is yet to come.”

SUNEL Group CEO, Konstantinos Zygouras, added: “Sunel Arena is changing and evolving. For us at Sunel Group, the redevelopment of this stadium is more than just a project. The renovation of the VP suites was not a simple upgrade of the spaces, but an act of honor towards AEK and the people who were on the court. The renovated suites bear the names of the team’s legends.

The 1968 team is a golden page in Greek sports and is the foundation of recognition in sports. The new suites will be put into operation from the new season and will not only be for matches, but also for other events on the field. We are proud of our work, even symbolically, which will be connected to the legacy of these people. They left an imprint of ethos, dedication and greatness. "

Ο Μάκης Αγγελόπουλος μίλησε για τις επενδύσεις που έγιναν, αλλά και γι' αυτές που θα γίνουν, στη «SUNEL Arena».

Τη Δευτέρα 26 Μαΐου πραγματοποιήθηκαν για την ΑΕΚ Betsson τα εγκαίνια των Legends Suites της «SUNEL Arena».

Στο πλαίσιο αυτό, ο διοικητικός ηγέτης της Ένωσης, Μάκης Αγγελόπουλος, παραχώρησε συνέντευξη Τύπου στην αίθουσα «Φαίδων Κωνσταντουδάκης» και μίλησε για τη μεγάλη πρόοδο στην έδρα της ομάδας αλλά και γι' αυτά που... έρχονται.

Υπενθυμίζεται, ότι οι VIP Σουίτες έχουν πάρει τα ονόματα των μελών της εμβληματικής βασικής πεντάδας της «Βασίλισσας», του 1968 (Γιώργος Αμερικάνος, Γιώργος Τρόντζος, Χρήστος Ζούπας, Στέλιος Βασιλειάδης, Αίας Λαρεντζάκης), του αείμνηστου Γιώργου Μόσχου, του Μηνά Γκέκου, καθώς και του κορυφαίου προπονητή της Ένωσης, Ντράγκαν Σάκοτα.

Αναλυτικά τα όσα είπε ο Μάκης Αγγελόπουλος:

«Όταν παίζουμε θα λέμε την ιστορία μας. Θυμάστε όλοι την ατάκα από την ταινία. Αυτή η ατάκα είναι το μότο που διέπει όλη την ομάδα. Το πιο σημαντικό γιατί συνδέει το παρελθόν με το παρόν και το μέλλον. Έχουμε κάνει σημαντικές δράσεις για να αναδείξουμε την ιστορία. Κάναμε δράσεις για το πρώτο Final 4 που μετείχε η ομάδα το 1966, κάναμε ταινία για το έπος του 1968. Αποσύραμε τη φανέλα με το όνομα του Γιώργου Αμερικάνου, του Γιώργου Τρόντζου. Η αίθουσα παλαιμάχων έχει το όνομα του Νίκου Μπαμπανικολού.

Αυτή η διοίκηση τιμάει την ιστορία. Αυτή η ομάδα είχε σημαντικά κενά. Δεν υπήρχε συνέπεια και συνέχεια αγωνιστικά. Ένας ακόμα λόγος ήταν πως δεν υπήρχε σύνδεση με την ιστορία και υπήρχαν κενά. Ένας άλλος λόγος ήταν η έλλειψη του γηπέδου. Στα 100 χρόνια η ιστορία της η ΑΕΚ αγωνίστηκε σε 16 διαφορετικά γήπεδα, επίσημα. Αυτό δημιούργησε πρόβλημα στο να συνδεθεί ο κόσμος με την ομάδα. Οι επενδύσεις που κάνουμε είναι σημαντικό πως δώσαμε τα ονόματα των σουιτών στην ιστορία της ΑΕΚ, καθώς υπάρχει σύνδεση του παρελθόντος με το παρόν και το μέλλον. Δεν το ξεχνάμε αυτό.

Έχουμε ολοκληρώσει το κομμάτι υποδομών στο γήπεδο και θα δώσουμε έμφαση στο κομμάτι της εμπειρίας, στο κομμάτι του φαίνεσθαι. Ήταν σημαντικό να ολοκληρώσουμε τις υποδομές. Πλέον θα επενδύσουμε στο κομμάτι της εμπειρίας των θεατών με τη δημιουργία ενός προορισμού με κέντρο το μπάσκετ εντός και εκτός γηπέδου. Ένας οικογενειακός προορισμός θα είναι σαν ιδέα μοναδικός παγκόσμια. Ευχαριστούμε τη Sunel που στηρίζει αυτή την προσπάθεια. Τα καλύτερα έρχονται».

Ο CEO της SUNEL Group, Κωνσταντίνος Ζυγούρας, πρόσθεσε: «Η Sunel Arena αλλάζει και εξελίσσεται. Για εμάς στον όμιλο Sunel η ανάπλαση αυτού του γηπέδου είναι κάτι παραπάνω από εάν έργο. Η ανακαίνιση των VP σουιτών δεν ήταν μια απλή αναβάθμιση των χώρων, αλλά μια πράξη τιμής προς την ΑΕΚ και τους ανθρώπους που βρέθηκαν στο γήπεδο. Οι ανακαινισμένες σουίτες φέρνουν το όνομα θρύλων της ομάδας.

Η ομάδα του 1968 είναι μια χρυσή σελίδα στον ελληνικό αθλητισμό και είναι το θεμέλιο αναγνώρισης στον αθλητισμό. Οι νέες σουίτες θα τεθούν σε λειτουργία από τη νέα σεζόν και δεν θα είναι μόνο για τους αγώνες, αλλά και για άλλες εκδηλώσεις στο γήπεδο. Είμαστε υπερήφανοι για το έργο μας, έστω και συμβολικά, που θα συνδεθεί με την παρακαταθήκη των ανθρώπων αυτών. Άφησαν αποτύπωμα ήθους, αφοσίωσης και μεγαλείου».
