Γιοβάνοβιτς: «Εύκολη η απόφαση να παραμείνω στην Εθνική – Υψηλές οι προσδοκίες όλων»

Jovanovic: “The decision to stay with the National Team was easy – Everyone’s expectations are high”

Ivan Jovanovic spoke about the extension of his contract with the National Team, the motivation given to him by the internationals and the need for everyone to live up to the high expectations.

Ivan Jovanovic referred to his collaboration with the Hellenic Football Federation and Makis Gagatsis, emphasizing that the signing of a new contract that will keep him on the bench of the “blue and white” team until 2028 is also the result of the good collaboration he has with everyone in the Greek Football Federation.

At the same time, he also referred to the efforts of his internationals in the upcoming 2026 World Cup and Euro 2028 qualifying phases, as well as the Nations League, with our National Team participating in the A League.

"Every game of the National Team is an official match. Let's keep our mentality, the way of playing and the mood as in the previous matches," he said about the upcoming matches with Slovakia and Bulgaria in the Pancretio.

In detail:

"It is a continuation of the discussion we had with Mr. Gagatsis about 10 months ago and I am particularly happy that I will remain in the National Team until the 2028 European Championship.

The reason is that I have excellent cooperation with the president and the administration of the EPO, but also with the staff of the Federation. And much more with the footballers. In the cooperation I had with them in the games we played, they gave everyone the right to have high expectations of ourselves.

We have the World Cup qualifiers ahead of us, we also have the Elite Group regarding the Nations League and the Euro qualifiers. So certainly the behavior of the players, the perception, the way of thinking about the National team and the expectations they generate themselves, give us all great motivation. And for me it was a very easy decision to remain in this position after 2026.

After 13 years we return to Crete. Over time it has been an important factor in the development of football in Greece.

We are happy to play the two matches in Crete. We hope that people will come to the stadium. Every National team game is an official match. Let's keep our mentality, the way of playing and the mood like in the previous matches. The players are coming from the finale of a difficult season, but they are here in great spirits and we will do normal preparation for the two games. This period is important for us, because the important games are starting...".

Ο Ιβάν Γιοβάνοβιτς μίλησε για την επέκταση του συμβολαίου του με την Εθνική ομάδα, για τα κίνητρα που του έδωσαν οι διεθνείς και για την ανάγκη όλοι ν’ ανταποκριθούν στις υψηλές προσδοκίες.

Ο Ιβάν Γιοβάνοβιτς αναφέρθηκε στο κομμάτι της συνεργασίας του με την ΕΠΟ και τον Μάκη Γκαγκάτση τονίζοντας η υπογραφή νέου συμβολαίου που θα τον κρατήσει στον πάγκο της «γαλανόλευκης» μέχρι και το 2028, είναι αποτέλεσμα και της σωστής συνεργασίας που έχει με όλους στην ελληνική ποδοσφαιρική ομοσπονδία.

Παράλληλα, αναφέρθηκε και στις προσπάθειες των διεθνών του στις φάσεις των προκριματικών του Μουντιάλ του 2026 και του Euro του 2028 που θα έρθουν, όπως επίσης και του Nations League, με την Εθνική μας να δίνει το «παρών» στην A League.

«Κάθε παιχνίδι της Εθνικής είναι επίσημο ματς. Να κρατήσουμε τη νοοτροπία μας, τον τρόπο παιχνιδιού και τη διάθεση όπως στα προηγούμενα ματς» είπε για τα προσεχή ματς με τις Σλοβακία και Βουλγαρία στο Παγκρήτιο.

Αναλυτικά:

«Είναι μια συνέχεια της συζήτησης που κάναμε με τον κ.Γκαγκάτση πριν από περίπου 10 μήνες και είμαι ιδιαίτερα χαρούμενος που θα παραμείνω στην Εθνική ομάδα μέχρι και το Ευρωπαϊκό του 2028.

Ο λόγος είναι ότι έχω άριστη συνεργασία με τον πρόεδρο και τη διοίκηση της ΕΠΟ, αλλά και με το προσωπικό της Ομοσπονδίας. Και πολύ περισσότερο με τους ποδοσφαιριστές. Στη συνεργασία που είχα μαζί τους στα παιχνίδια που δώσαμε, έδωσαν σε όλους δικαίωμα να έχουμε όλοι υψηλές προσδοκίες από τον εαυτό μας.

Έχουμε μπροστά μας τα προκριματικά για το Παγκόσμιο Κύπελλο, έχουμε και το Elite Group όσον αφορά στο Nations League και τα προκριματικά του Euro. Άρα σίγουρα η συμπεριφορά των παικτών, η αντίληψη, ο τρόπος σκέψης για την Εθνική ομάδα και οι προσδοκίες που γεννούν οι ίδιοι, δίνουν σε όλους μας μεγάλα κίνητρα. Και για εμένα ήταν πολύ εύκολη απόφαση να παραμείνω και μετά το 2026 σε αυτό το πόστο.

Μετά από 13 χρόνια επιστρέφουμε στην Κρήτη. Διαχρονικά εκεί είναι σημαντικός παράγοντας στην εξέλιξη του ποδοσφαίρου στην Ελλάδα.

Χαιρόμαστε που θα δώσουμε τα δυο ματς στην Κρήτη. Ελπίζουμε να έρθει ο κόσμος στο γήπεδο. Κάθε παιχνίδι της Εθνικής είναι επίσημο ματς. Να κρατήσουμε τη νοοτροπία μας, τον τρόπο παιχνιδιού και τη διάθεση όπως στα προηγούμενα ματς. Οι παίκτες προέρχονται από το φινάλε μιας επίπονης σεζόν, αλλά είναι εδώ με μεγάλη διάθεση και θα κάνουμε φυσιολογική προετοιμασία για τα δύο παιχνίδια. Είναι σημαντική η περίοδος αυτή για εμάς, γιατί αρχίζουν και τα σημαντικά παιχνίδια…».
