Monaco ready for type "A" license in Euroleague

Monaco is close to obtaining a permanent contract in the Euroleague.

After this year's amazing run with Vasilis Spanoulis on the bench, where they reached the final of the competition, now Monaco seems to be ready to become... permanent in the Euroleague.

According to "bebasket.fr", Monaco is expected to receive a type "A" license, joining the "club" of teams that have a permanent contract with the Euroleague.

In fact, Monaco's General Manager, Oleksiy Yefimov, confirmed the news, while the final decision is expected to be made in a video conference on Tuesday (27/5). In his statements to Equipe, the Ukrainian emphasized: "As the president (Alexey Fedorychev) says, we are not here because they did us a favor, but because we deserve to belong to this league."

It is worth noting that the same publication reports that the possible increase in the number of Euroleague teams to 20, the destination of the next Final Four and the possible granting of a wild card for one year in Paris will be discussed in this teleconference.

Κοντά στο να αποκτήσει μόνιμο συμβόλαιο στη Euroleague βρίσκεται η Μονακό.

Μετά και τη φετινή εκπληκτική της πορεία με τον Βασίλη Σπανούλη στον πάγκο, όπου έφτασε μέχρι τον τελικό της διοργάνωσης, τώρα η Μονακό φαίνεται πως είναι έτοιμη για να γίνει... μόνιμη στη Euroleague.

Σύμφωνα με το «bebasket.fr», η Μονακό αναμένεται να λάβει άδεια τύπου «Α», μπαίνοντας στο «κλαμπ» των ομάδων που έχουν μόνιμο συμβόλαιο με τη Euroleague.

Μάλιστα, ο Γενικός Διευθυντής της Μονακό, Ολέκσι Γεφίμοφ, επιβεβαίωσε την είδηση, ενώ η οριστική απόφαση αναμένεται να ληφθεί σε τηλεδιάσκεψη την Τρίτη (27/5). Σε δηλώσεις του στην Equipe, ο Ουκρανός τόνισε: «Όπως λέει και ο πρόεδρος (Αλεξέι Φεντόριτσεφ), δεν είμαστε εδώ επειδή μας έκαναν χάρη, αλλά επειδή αξίζουμε να ανήκουμε σε αυτή τη λίγκα».

Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι το ίδιο δημοσίευμα αναφέρει πως στην εν λόγω τηλεδιάσκεψη θα συζητηθεί η πιθανή αύξηση των ομάδων της Euroleague σε 20, ο προορισμός του επόμενου Final Four και η πιθανή χορήγηση wild card για έναν χρόνο στην Παρί.
